Any aspect? How about ALL of them! The society I live in treats animals (obviously aware, if stupid, beings) like soul-less beasts, and forget about plants or incorporeal spirits! Sure there are boatloads of exceptions, but there's plenty people who treat their fellow humans poorly, too Good luck trying to explain your world-view to a devout [major religion] person. It's easier for me to just translate things into technobabble. "How did I know that Harold? Why it was on the internet, of course." "Where did that extra $ come from Joan? An internet auction... What? Oh not that one you use 24/7, a different one."
To sum it up:
Defeats (IMG:
style_emoticons/default/badmood.gif)
- Conversation - lots of trouble doing much more than chitchat or talking about news
- Friends - don't understand or are religiously declined
- Convenience - can't just chuck that wrapper when you know a nature spirit is watching
- Patience - if at first you don't succeed, try again... and again...
- Sanity - infinite ways to get something right or wrong and they're all different
- Time - never seem to have enough of it, especially when trying to do a ritual
- Money - the lion's share mysteriously vanishes to be replaced by unsalable paraphernalia
Victories (IMG:

- Money - not really a problem anymore, can always manage to get enough to pay the latest bill
- Confidence - knowing you can affect the probability of success is good
- No fear of Death - just talking to someone who's supposed to be "dead" can do wonders
- Open mindedness - your neighbor's conversations with local fairies sounds saner than "I summoned Belial just to get a new car"
- Comfort - servitor! more wine and change that dirge to a samba
- Calmness - no need to worry about that trial when you can see how it ends
