Just a newb question. I've a friend (group of friends, actually) coming under prolonged attack from an individual magician. She has boasted of using all paradigms, including the Necronomicon. My friend is considering using the Nec seals of certain spirits for household protection.
My question is: I think there are some preperatory rites or actions that need be taken prior to doing this. Is that correct. And do they make good protection for a household or an individual? Any advice or help would be appreciated, since I do not want to see her run into problems.
Thanks.
First of all, it's important to verify that these friends are in fact under magickal attack. It's certainly a possibility, but it is not, for instance, the sort of thing a teenager angry about her stolen boyfriend can typically pull off.
Second, people who use multiple paradigms for magick are good at molding their own psyches and working within their own sphere - usually to their own detriment but sometimes effectively - but typically not good at manifesting change in other people's spheres. It's kind of like using silly string to pierce a glass bubble. Of course, if your friends are also extremely loose in their own sense of paradigm, then it's not entirely impossible in that right.
Third, in the past to ah, 'get rid of' troublesome people who believed in magick, especially the overly dramatic individuals who love to be involved in magickal combat at pretty much all times, all I did was tell them I was out for them. That was enough to keep them busy for a long time, and suddenly every negative thing that happened in their life became 'an attack'. IN a sense, it was, but it was the simplest kind of attack - using their own innate natures against them by pressing just the right button.
It's best to divine about these sorts of things, preferably by every means available, and then comparing the results. Or, having multiple people do for instance tarot readings on the matter, and comparing results. It's far too easy for one individual with only the basic grasp of tarot that the vast majority of readers can be said to have, to interpret the cards that come up in whatever way that suits their purposes. The symbolism of the cards is, after all, fairly flexible if that symbolism is not an integral part of your paradigm in the first place.
Then, only after lots of said divination, then, I would not suggest the necronomicon for protection unless your friends intend to follow that path. The necronomicon current seems to be effective, sometimes drastically so, and that's enticing, however dropping it and going back to it, and my own case and that of others I have dealt with, is often a recipe for disaster. It is a path that is for a priestly class of practitioners, not people who just use it occasionally for some temporary goal.
This is part of the reason I am skeptical about your friends' adversary using the necronomicon current in addition to 'all paradigms' whatever that means. The type of person who will say that sort of thing is probably not much of a bother to worry about. The kinds of magicians that you don't want to piss off are the kind who are entirely devoted to their singular path, very good at one thing. A person who spreads themselves over multiple paths may have developed some ability, but is typically not nearly as developed as someone who is devoted to a single tradition of practice.
Lighting a white candle, burning some sage, sprinkling some sea salt around the border of the house while saying some heartfelt prayers will probably suffice. Heartfelt prayers, not some scrap of liturgy they lifted from this grimoire or that. To whatever they believe to be the highest power, nothing less deserves a prayer in the first place.
I would suggest more specific techniques but don't know the capabilities of your friends.
