Hi Thorn
I don't believe that runes can be used quite as you are suggesting. You don't project a rune's power like you would a ray gun. You read about things like that in works of fiction. But there is a difference between fiction and reality. The runes are patterns of energy that you can access through specific means. The closest I can think of is doing runic meditations and galdar in which your holding the rune in your mind while chanting causes a radiation of that energy. But it isn't something that you can do on the fly while pursuing a fleeing enemy or whomever. There are also runic charms and bindrunes that once set up require no more preparation, but do not allow for fine control. I'm not expert on runes however, more an intermediate. Perhaps someone else might be able to comment more clearly.
Thanks for the reply. I'm having a little trouble explaining exactly what I mean, exactly. Think about when you're writing a rune on something, say a protection rune or a healing symbol, or whatever, and then put energy into it to empower it and whatnot. The fact is, you don't actually need the ink part of the rune, it's just giving you something to focus the power on. What I'm suggesting is more like that, you're visualizing the rune on something, or a person or whatever, and projecting power into it. Using the symbol as a sort of catalyst. Anyway, thank you for your thoughts and any others are appreciated. Cheers.
