I was wondering if anyone has ever tried working with rune projection, as in projecting forward the power and visualization of a rune for whatever purpose. For instance, you could use a protection rune projected around you to form a shield, or maybe use the Thorn rune (Thurisaz) as a weapon. Maybe projecting the ice rune for physical cold, or to slow something or someone down. I'm just curious to see if anyone's had any experience with this, because it sounds like it could have some interesting possibilities. Thanks:)

This is a totally realistic notion, but you can't use a rune or runes for anything but as a metaphorical weapon. Imagine throwing a pack of tarot cards at your enemy? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bigwink.gif)

The runes make fine protection so long as the full meanings of each rune is known and understood. Bit like getting to know your gun and being able to strip and reassemble it in the dark. Anyways. When using Sorcery with Runes as a weapon, YOU as the Sorcerer must assume that your enemy is also a Sorcerer and maybe a more powerful one than you are, and that he, with the cunning of an advanced wizard can turn your ammunition back on yourself.

Hagalaz is a good example. It means hail and destructive forces. But if you are intent on destroying your enemy, the metaphysical projection is to force your enemy into introspection, that is assuming YOU are right in the defensive. If you are not correct you are stuffed becasue the runes only know the RIGHT way.

Okay. Back to Hagalaz. You are aiming the metaphysical rune MEANING at your enemy (all the while considering that he can turn it back on you), but with all INTENT and PURPOSE send the ammunition of interpretation at your enemy, meaning that you are bombarding him with the force of Hagalaz which, if he was a sorcerer worth his salt would make him look at what is hitting him and get the message.

Which takes me back to the full meaning of Hagalaz and what your ammunition consists of. Hagalaz is a destructive natural force which clears away all the detrius and spurious growth withing the self. Once that has all been cleared, new strong and true growth may be allowed although there might be some forces which are present and encourage changes on outlook. That is the ammunition you send.
