I spent my weekend in a cold basement with a magickian – Lon Milo Duquette, in fact, about thirty of us endured this dark, cold place and as we listened and participated in the workshop, it turned into a place of wonder, a place of vision and hope even, although it didn’t get any warmer.

We listened to brief histories of the Goetic and Enochian systems, we worked experientially: chanting Enochian calls, scrying the aethyrs from TEX to NIA, examining Goetic sigils and briefly starting to design our own triangles and circles as a preparation for the time when some will want to summon a favoured Goetic daemon or others of us will want to improve on our own magickal workings.

At ‘story time’, although most of us had read Lon’s My Life with the Spirits and the well-known Chapter 16: Evocation of Orobas, we wanted to hear it from the horses mouth so to speak and sat silently rapt as it entered our consciousness for the second and in some cases third or more times - it is one of my favourite stories from adulthood and I was happy to enjoy it yet again; move over Ms Rowling, we had the real thing going down there.

Tired and happy, we came away with handouts, a Sigillum Dei Aemeth fridge magnet, signed books or indeed, anything we could get Lon to sign and memories of a weekend that will inspire us, maybe for years to come.

If anyone is interested in receiving mailings to keep up to date with Lon’s workshops and events, join the list on his website here:

Lon was also having drinks in a pub near to where the workshop was on a Monday night, there was a meeting last night, but I was unable to go and I believe his last one is next Monday.

There were also private events related to the Order for members to attend.

If any of you get the chance to attend any event by him, even if you have to stretch a limited budget, I would do so, he presents very well, he has a clear voice and a great sense of humour as well as being down to earth and inspiring too : )
