Hi there!

The Seventy-second Spirit in order is named Andromalius. He
is an Earl, great and mighty, appearing in the form of a man
holding a great serpent in his hand. His office is to bring back both
a thief, and the stolen goods; to discover all wickedness, and
underhanded dealings; and to punish all thieves and other wicked
people; and also to discover hidden treasures. He rules over 36
Legions of Spirits.

I was metal detecting in the U.K over Christmas without much luck so decided to see if the Goetia would make any difference.

I copied Andromalius's sigil onto paper and carried it in my back pocket whilst metal detecting.

I told him I wanted to find some gold (IMG:style_emoticons/default/greedy.gif) , to which he replied 'o.k, no problem'. I told him I would give him fame in return, meaning a post like this.

I went into the field he told me to and literally within minutes found my first bit of gold (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dance2.gif) , merely a pen top tho. I told him then that I wanted a ring. He again said o.k and told me that i should have said so in the first place.

An hour later, lo' and behold I dug up my first gold ring!! It is fairly old band ring with roses and ivy across it, very nice indeed.

After asking him if he could help me find a big lump of gold, he kinda got a bit annoyed at me reminding me that he had done what I had asked of him, which I agreed.

I kept the Sigil in my back pocket and a few days later I found a silver ring after asking for one.

So, all in all he responded extremely well, to which I am thankful.

However, later in that day a big argument happened which involved a family member. This argument ended up unveiling a few underhand thoughts etc that I'm not going to go into further. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/06.gif)

Maybe I should have told him that I only required help with finding treasure, not discovering underhand/dishonest dealings. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/doh.gif)

I am now left with his Sigil. How do I dispose of it in a respectful manner without hurting Andromalius?

Thanks in Advance

Luna

Always giving the license to depart along with some form of banishing ritual is simply good magical safety. After all, you wear your seatbelt every time you get in a car, right? Think about it this way--from their point of view, a formal dismissal is basically letting them punch out the time clock at the end of the day. It frees them up to go do other things. Should you need to summon them again, you can always specify something along the lines of, 'Come back when I call you, even if I don't do a full-dress ritual.' They'll usually comply. But yeah, make sure the sign of Solomon is on the back of the sigil. Goetic entities are a random and wily lot, and the seal does help to keep them honest and compliant. Andromalius seems to be one of the most honest and cheerful of the 72, but I'd still follow basic protocols.

As for discovering underhanded dealings, I've found with the spirits the old adage 'in for a penny, in for a pound' is very much true. Many times those auxiliary 'benefits' may seem like a PITA at the time they kick in but often make life much easier in the long run, as they're usually stuff you'd need to deal with anyway. Problems usually are best killed when they're young. So this is something you might want to keep in mind as well. If they become bothersome, call him back and tell him that the help was appreciated, but inappropriate at this time, so you'd really like it if he could stick to the given commands for the time being. If he feels he needs to solve something on your behalf you can tell him to give you some sort of sign or warning first so you have at least a rough idea of when/how things will hit the fan.

As for what to do with the sigil, you can hang on to it or you can burn it. If you summoned him for a one-off deal it may be better to burn it. If you want to keep him in your service for a while, you can remake the seal from something more permanent then burn the paper one as it's no longer necessary. It's ultimately your call.

On the whole, though, it sounds like everything went well. There's more than one way to summon an entity, and it sounds like you hit on a method that works for you. Good luck with everything, and keep us posted in case anything else interesting develops.
