Calling All Metal Lovers!, Lets talk some music eh? Options

I was organizing my files and came to the realization of how much music can influence the mind and assemble like-minded individuals. Heavy metal (especially) has slowly cultivated a new aeon of its own, infatuating young minds and the like. Heavy Metal has been known to have the most occult-related lyrics from all other genres of music, so it will be interesting to see how many metal appreciators there are in these occult forums, and exactly what bands you're interested in.

Cradle of Filth is not black metal, nor is Dimmu Borgir. It strikes me that many of the users here simply listen to "gateway metal" which is basically (and I hate to say this) designed for fourteen year old boys with sensitive ears.

I don't get too high-strung on where bands are pigeon holed. If it sounds good to me it is good (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
I do believe though that there are bands out there that "entice" you deeper into the metal scene, mainly the mainstream crap like Trivium (IMG:style_emoticons/default/00000041.gif) or Killswitch engage (IMG:style_emoticons/default/00000042.gif) but if you choose to settle with that level of metal... cool, I mean, where does it change from being "gateway metal" to actual metal. Who are the real deal and who are the pretenders?
