am not well-versed in Arabic demonology.
That being said, my limited understanding of the subject (derived from Sura 72 of the Koran, and discussions with random Muslims) is that the Djinn are like people in most respects. They have families, they live in homes, they choose to be faithful or not at will, etc. It is a general term for intelligent spirits, very similar to the Latin concept of household gods.
What might be called "demons" in Western lore are in the Koran more precisely identified as those djinn who were in allegiance to Iblis, who would serve God but who would not willingly serve Adam.
Actually my birth religion is moslem, yet i am not a moslem but more of an Osirian, actually I have some knowledge about Arabic Jinn,Jinn is said to be like humans, they have families as you said, they have dwelling places and some of them are Evil some are Good, some they usually feed on blood ,bones and human shit, they live in unpopulated areas, that is Forrests, deserts and unpopulated houses, some hate humans and see them as inferior race, some like humans and help them.
Jinn in Islamic tradition are made from Fire, they wear clothes as humans do,some of them, the ones that dissobayed God they have disfigured animal shapes,as in the Goetia, some have the body of a toad three heads that of a ram,Toad, and human, some of them have very beautiful appearance.
Jinn in Islam were created long before humans, they reached technology and magick powers that is very advanced,my personal opinion is Jinn are created of elements, there are water demons, fire demons, air and earth.Thee demons live in a dimention paralel to ours probably the nearest to us,that explains their constant manifestations in our world.
But my question is are Jinn and Demons are the same thing or Different..?
