What are sigals and what are they used for? And can someone give me an example of them what they look like? And can they be used to help with Astral Projection?

I was just wondering these things cause i have recently started practicing Astral Projection. And im trying to find if anything that could help with this. Any help would be appreciated thanks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blablabla.gif). Or anything that could help with this process not just sigals anything really. Or to help me with scrying i have been also practicing this kinda new to magic so there it is thank you.

A sigil is merely statement of intent that has been 'sigilized' so as to link the original desire to a form that you can work magic on without associating it with the original intent.

....

Basically, you take a desire, sigilize it (monograms/mantras being two of the most popular methods), charge it, fire and forget about it.

Here's an explanation of creating sigils as explained by the wonderful Grant Morrison:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayj-TwrQTVg

This describes the monogram approach fairly. The mantra approach has the same first step, but then instead of creating a visual representation, you re-arrange the letters and sounds into a mantra that 'sounds sufficiently magical' and doesn't remind you of the original intent.

Easy explanations for sigils can be found elsewhere on the youtubes, as well.

A further (and very thorough) explanation of sigilization is found in Phil Hine's book Condensed Chaos.

Hope that helps.
