When I have an ego, she says to be humble. When I am humble, she says to have an ego. It's a sort of dance. wield both, humility and the indomitable self, one in each hand, and find the course of action/being which expresses both in unison.
You screwed up? People screw up. Things greater than people screw up too. deities aren't fragile. nor are they surprised by anything you might do. Own up to your shame. But do not be owned by shame. If you have regrets, then don't mope about it to a deity. If you are grieved by your own actions, then bear your grief, and do better. A deity knows what you're feeling already, don't drag them into a psychodrama about it. Just steel your will, become stronger, and do it right. Don't say "i'm sorry", don't say anything, just get up, and become greater than you were yesterday. Don't even do a penance, just become greater, and do better. You're a team. If you let the team down, nothing needs to be said by either party. all of the ramifications and emotional subtleties are 'understood'. show up to practice early and get better. You are by nature imperfect, overwhelm your nature with tenacity.
maybe anyway... deities vary. mine wants mighty progeny, not perfect progeny.
