Hi All. So, I have recently had a kind of breakthrough experience and realized that I want to move to Portland, where my closest spiritual family is, because of them and for other reasons relating to wanting to continue to explore rather than settle my feet in the red Georgia clay.
I have, in this endeavor, begun to plan my trip which will begin approximately August 31st.
On the way, I have a particularly ambitious project in mind.
Last summer, I buried a crystal at a place of power, an ancient ceremonial site that is still cared for and maintained in north georgia. I spent time meditating there, and I linked the crystals on the fly, as it were. Very crudely, and the link is very weak, but I do get the same vibe by placing my awareness into the linked crystal during meditation. I dowsed with a pendulum for the appropriate burial point.
Well, it got me thinking about making a much stronger link by carving seven crystals - six with the same sigil on each of six faces, and a seventh with one face bearing a sigil from each of the others. I've done something like this with other applications before, creating sympathetic links between two things in a variety of ways. These I'll carve and then blood, much like carving runes. Then I'd like to take each of the six crystals to places of power across the US and bury them there, making the seventh into a kind of link/receptacle through which those energies can be accessed.
So far the one linked crystal I have created has a tendency to simply take me into the solemn reverie that I felt at the mounds in north GA. Very quiet, but also a sensation of... biding, I guess, waiting for something. A kind of calm anticipation that, in terms of utility, I have found is an excellent precursor state to ritual work. Going into that state using the crystal is extremely easy. Just closing my eyes and kind of moving into and through it along the philotic line is like getting warm by stepping into hot water - your mind just goes there, your energy makes a natural shift.
So I want to do the same thing with much greater places of power. However, finding a decent list of them is proving to be kind of difficult. I wonder if anyone has put any significant study into the subject of North American Places of Power, vortexes, etc., and if you'd mind helping me with either links or suggestions. I'm going to try and take a route that at least goes through new mexico, because there are some sites in general there that I've always wanted to see. I will also, I think, swing by the grand canyon because, I mean, it's a cross country tour. Why not?
I have the freedom to take a winding path from one corner to the other, and plan on taking my time and enjoying the journey as well as creating links to six of these places.
The purpose, is to have access to those places and their states remotely and easily in a talismanic sense, and to be able to use the same sigils for the creation of sympathetic links to other talismans as well.
I am looking currently, and will continue to. But my main difficulty is that although there are some lists of places, there is very little discussion on the actual nature of the places. That is to say, on the tone of the power there.
peace

QUOTE(Vagrant Dreamer @ May 21 2013, 07:09 PM) That is a very helpful list, I may visit the temple in Sedona when I am there. Do you happen to have a map of the dragon veins (different than ley lines?) in the us? Or knowledge of where they run in the southern half of the country?
I never had a good grasp of what a Ley Line was, but a mountain dragon’s lairs (misremembered the name before) is a spot in a formation of mountains or hills that collects earthly qi. The highest peak of a mountainous or hilly formation is Dragon's head, the main line of hills or mountains represents the spine, the branch ranges extending from the main trunk represent the legs, and smaller spurs and escarpments extending from the branch ranges represent claws. From the head follow the ridge until it ends in either flat ground, another dragon, or large body of water. That distance is the dragon. The most concentrated spot of earth energy is the lair. You can find them in any mountain or hill chain, though some or better than others. I played around with google maps a few years back and found promising sites rather quickly, they just involved a lot of hiking. I will see if I can remember or find the big ones again for you. The lower part of the Rockies had one near Aspen, Co I think, also Missouri but it has been a while. The following is for your amusement, it is all the criteria I could remember or find about mountain dragon’s and their lairs. High ranges with jagged peaks and steep rocky slopes are the most powerful dragons but wild and restless. Medium ranges with rounded but defined peaks and gentle forested slopes are modest of energy, stable and nourishing. Low ranges with small peaks and eroded slopes should be avoided. A formation where the peaks get higher and higher, one after the other, as they recede into the background; it will have strongest type of Qi. When it has an undulating landscape is auspicious, but not as powerful, providing it still has abundant in trees or grass, access to water, and are magnificent in appearance. The mountains or hills that decrease in progression, contain grotesque shapes, have scattered formations, or appear skinny and lean to one side, that are barren, dry, or sandy are the most undesirable type of mountain formation. Mountains are flat of the same height, barren, lack color, or ugly are inauspicious too. Mountainous regions that contain steep ragged ridges or fast moving water or jagged rock formations are inauspicious. You find the places with the highest concentration of energy on dragons the same way you locate a dragon by looking for a place that is either "at odds with the flow" of energy in areas that are largely "moving with the flow" of energy, or vice versa. Auspicious sites are ones that are a well-protected, such as a hollow, or be surrounded by green mountains with lush foliage, relatively large and flat in other wise mountainous terrain containing a protrusion of earth, ideally, high in the mountains with lots of sunlight and near curving or still water, surrounded by ridges or hills on three sides; or flat land in front as viewed from the north looking south, with some type of protrusion in the back and mountains positioned on both sides of the site for protection; or where a longer "embracing" mountain range on both sides of the site; or hidden between two tall mountain peaks. Every range has its own power site but there is only one “trunk site” that commands all the others for many miles around and in therefore the most desirable. A Trunk Site usually exists only within a long primary mountain range that has many branches, and has travelled over several hundred miles from its place of origin. A group of mountains that look like a "pair of scissors," generally exposes the Trunk Site. It will be located between the inner most pair of scissor "legs," near the vertex. A group of branch mountains that form into the image of a "pair of scissors," generally tell you its a Branch Site. This post has been edited by fatherjhon: May 24 2013, 06:13 PM

Cosmic consciousness is devoid of diversity; yet the universe of diversity exists in notion.... We contemplate that reality in which everything exists, to which everything belongs, from which everything has emerged, which is the cause of everything and which is everything.... The light of [this] self-knowledge alone illumines all experiences. It shines by its own light. This inner light appears to be outside and to illumine external objects.

Fascinating! I cross a couple of mountain ranges on my way and intend to camp at least a couple of nights during the trip. Ley Lines are specifically the lines along which sacred sites are built, from ancient locales to more modern churches, etc., although the tradition of building on them hasn't been practiced popularly for some time. I believe it realistically began when there were very few such places, but smaller temples, etc., would be build on a line between two others; often natural landmarks were used for these things, and it might have even been primarily a matter of navigation from one place to another using visible landmarks rather than relying on ye olde GPS in the skye. There are some more new age theories about how ley lines are currents of mystical energy... but if such things occur I believe it is more from the cumulative intention to travel between two places than from any natural occurrence. However, it is one aspect of a general study regarding the paths of the earth's 'nervous system' as it were, and it is generally believed that where these lines converge or cross, are places where this power gathers. You have my gratitude. peace
