If you have never held an object of power like a properly made wand or staff, then it's hard to describe exactly why this is such a delightful project for me. I have wanted to get these woods for such a long time, and was overjoyed to find a contact who could source them for me the way that I need them to be.

The next big project coming up are these wands - I have acquired the materials to make 2 Yew Wands, 1 Ebony Wand, and then three less expensive wands in Walnut, Olivewood, and Maple.

The less pricey wands are absolutely reasonable tools for magical practice, all three woods have strong traditions surrounding their use. The Yew and Ebony are the prize, though - I am actually making one of each to keep for myself.

If you don't know already, Yew is the wood associated with the dead, it is credited with magic related to everlasting life, necromancy, etc. It is the only kind of tree that left in the right conditions, will legitimately live forever. This piece of wood is very very old, collected without killing the tree.

The ebony is considered one of the most magical woods as well, traditionally a wood associated with protection and exorcism. Mine will be a silver wire wrapped handle and a cadeucus like double spiral engraved with the 110th and 111th psalms.

They are posted on the site for presale now, and i can take custom orders for some kinds of wood. I decided to go after this project when I was offered the yew at a decent price, the other woods are from wood suppliers. I have plans to make staves as well, but that's a little while off as the wood is pricey at those volumes.
