Recently i've been exchanging e-mails with a guy who happened to ask some good questions, initially about reiki but then slowly moving into other topics. Since they were questions I've not specifically answered before, and because he wanted so much detail in my responses, they became quite lengthy. So, after the third or fourth e-mail now, I thought I'd go ahead and put together all the questions and my dissertations and post them up here as hopefully another random bit of resource for anyone interested. You may wanna get a cup of coffee. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yawn.gif)

I found minimal amounts on reiki, but am
interested in hearing what you had to say about it. If I remember correctly
it dealt with energies between the two bodies.

As you've probably managed to find, reiki is 'universal life force energy' but that is rarely properly defined. I have come to view reiki as the energy that all living things have to be whole, to grow, to follow the flow of life in the world. This is why reiki has the effect that it has, that of speeding up healing, on both the physical level and the psychological/spiritual level, and why it appears to have an 'intelligence' - it's often said that reiki 'knows' where to go. I personally am an animist, so it is easy for me to accept that an energy can be intelligence, however, from a different point of view, one can view the current of life in the world just as one would view a river - the river flows around the hills, and always to the ocean - is it intelligent, or is this simply the manifestation of physical laws which create a 'path' of behavior for the river? the same is true of reiki, life force flows along a particular current on the basis of both physical and metaphysical laws. What is broken seeks to be whole, what is inexperienced seeks experience, what is newborn seeks to grow.

All of existence is made of light, descending from the first and brightest light at the beginning of creation. Light as a particular quality, actually all waveforms do, which is to carry information. If two waves are in resonance, they may share information, so that each contains the sum of the other. When a much higher frequency of light is introduced to a waveform or group of waveforms of a lower frequency, if they are in resonance, they will average out, so that the lower frequencies rise, and the the higher frequencies descend - apparently, anyway, in reality they do not change, but achieve cohesion, and the information between them all becomes spread between them, resulting in a new waveform which is of an average frequency.

Reiki is an extremely high frequency of light, so high that it transcends material existence all together. When it is introduced to a low frequency, or material, environment, it creates cohesion amongst the other waveforms there. This cohesion in the body leads to better communication between cells, and even between quanta at the subatomic level. That is why reiki is considered particularly useful for recovering from cancer, or dealing with viral infections such as HIV - both cases have to do with breakdown in communcation between cells in the body.

Because the frequency of reiki is higher than the typical frequency of an individual's emotional, mental, and astral bodies, it tends to create cohesion between the various 'lower' bodies of the individual as well, resulting in a clearing of negative energies in those component bodies.

There are different levels
of reiki master... how many different ones? And what do they mean? Also,
if 'energy is neither created nor distroyed', then does the energy in reiki
flow both ways, or from master to recipient? I guess, what happens to you
during and at the end of a session?

Well, everything that works, works on principles. it's easy to look at the result and think that it comes out of no where.

Traditionally there is only Level 1 reiki, which is called reiki for Self, and is focused on self-healing and meditation, inner exploration, etc.; Reiki 2, which is healing for others, the point where, traditionally, an initiate begins doing reiki sessions for others, and then there is the Reiki Master level, which is reiki to pass on, hence masters give attunements.

There are a lot of newer systems of reiki, and other systems having a similar structure, goal, and theory, and they may or may not be valid. In my opinion, the transmission of energy in and of itself is a very basic human trait that we take for granted as just 'human behavior' which is seen largely only on the surface. But any psychologist will tell you a person with lots of social interaction will be psychologically healthier than someone with none, on average. This is not just human behavior, it has to do with the flow of energy between living beings, and that flow of energy is perhaps 80% of the reasoning behind all human interaction. Understanding that flow of energy is a great key to understanding the human condition, and opening up the mystery of culture.

What differentiates reiki, etc., from the basic human talent for this energetic exchange, is that reiki is an energy much higher in frequency that the energy we normally pass around. It does not originate within the individual, in as much as anything is separate in the first place - you could say it comes from within, and also above, the practitioner.

The axiom that 'energy is neither created nor destroyed' is a bit outdated. We know at this point that a particle can exist, and then not exist, and then exist again. It is impossible to determine of the particle simple 'skips' into another portion of the universe and then back, but that is one explanation that has been offered up, one researcher suggested it pops back and forth between two points exactly the same distance from the center of the physical universe, on exactly the opposite vector from it. In any case, energy within a particular plane is never created or destroyed, only changed. however, there are many different levels, or planes, of energy, each 'band' similar in constitution to the visible light spectrum. In fact, the visible light spectrum is perfectly suited to the analogy, because while there is light below that spectrum and above it, in theoretically infinite degrees, we can only perceive a narrow band with our eyes. Reiki is, as I said, light that is such a high frequency that transcends space and even time. Therefore, reiki flows from one level of existence to another, or rather, is modulated into a harmonic frequency by the human energy system, which is another very complex subject. Suffice to say that, each of the seven chakras are associated with colors on the spectrum, because the originators of that school of thought witnessed that each chakra had a particular range of vibration that represented everything from the most basic of experiences to the most heightened experience. We recieve 'divine' energy into the crown, which is resonant (hopefully) with that 'divine' energy, energy or light high above the 'material' world. The chakras are energy processing centers in the body, though modulators is a better term - the crown modulates the divine light into a frequency harmonic with the third eye, which in turn modulates it for the throat chakras, and so on down to the root, which modulates the energy and passes it into the ground through the feet. The reverse process also happens, and that exchange of energy between 'heaven' and 'earth' is the fundamental principle which becomes the basis for all spirituality and religion in human culture. Which is a very general term, perhaps I would qualify it to say the majority of deity based religions, although personally I believe that it forms the basis for the very concept of religion and spirituality - religion adds morality, while spirituality adds something more like philosophy to the equation.

So, essentially, the exchange is there, it's just very subtle, and involves higher bandwidths of energy than we can normally observe directly - although that's no impossible by any means, to the human consciousness and brain, though the brain is far more advanced than the equipment we construct to get an 'objective' look. The practitioner is not drained of his own energy, at least as long as he's doing it right.

Which brings us to what happens for the practitioner - in this case me - after a session. During a reiki session I have trained my mind, through meditation, to be completely still, in order to embody totally the intention to apply reiki to healing. My own energy must be calm and still in order to allow reiki to pass through my crown, down into my heart chakra and then out along the channels of the arms and through the palms into the recipient. So, during a session I am totally at peace, and the current allows a focus of concentration that is very subtle and quieting in and of itself. At first it is simply peaceful, then it is warm, and then it is a gentle vibration extending from the chest and into the arms and hands. Recipients typically feel heat, but not always. Though a practitioner's hands may feel warm to them, that is not a guarantee that the recipient will feel heat, the same goes for any other sensation. it is easy to think these sensations are physical, but in reality they are not, they are purely energetic, which is why a client in a session can be very hot all over, but not sweat, as happens often and is one of the more popular 'signs' of a good reiki session, though truthfully it just depends on the individual recipient - no practitioner has a constant and regular reaction in their patients, because they don't do anything except act as a clear channel, which can take practice. You could say what they are actively doing nothing.

Afterwards the sense of calm persists the longest, and when reiki is no longer being applied to an external point, the 'current' tapers off and in the meantime flows into the system of the individual. it's a bit like radiation, it has a sort of half life and usually for a few hours after a session I will personally feel very contemplative, usually have a burst of creativity, very often feel comfortable just sitting down and being for a little while, no need for entertainment or distraction, or any activity at all except what is necessary, which is easy to do with a greater sense of purpose and appreciation for the task(s) at hand. It's a great time to clean house, for me.

Sometimes, as with my own practice early on, nearly six years ago now, I would feel anxious and drained a little afterwards. This comes when the practitioner is, rather than remaining still and empty inside, thinking about the client, how the healing should take place, hoping that there will be a miracle of some sort to prove to himself how amazing reiki is so that he can finally believe in what he's doing. Or he's wandering in his mind. If his energy is not still, reiki will carry it away, in a sense, into the client, out into the imagination, into the wants and needs of the practitioners own personal life, etc. I think this is natural for initiates just starting out, and in a way is part of the adjustment process that can follow the attunements for several years to come. By the time it is over, though, the initiate has transformed internally, viewing the world and himself completely differently. Such has been my experience, at least, and that of all of my own associates, who all came from the same lineage, i.e., teacher as I did. The best way to judge a 'real deal' reiki practitioner, is how good you feel when you are around them, or talking to them. The more reiki moves through them, the greater cohesion their own light has, and over time it starts to shine out around them and people are lifted into better cohesion just by being around them - though it's not always obvious at first. This is also another fundamental principle of human nature, and a formative principle of spirituality in human culture, as well as a principle beneath 'charisma'.

As to what else I have to offer, it's easier for me to answer questions. I couldn't possibly just write down everything I think/know about energy work or even just reiki. At a point, reiki blends at the edges into everything else about energy work because ultimately reiki is just a particular bandwidth of light, and while that light has certain properties, the function itself is more universal than just that. Reiki, in effect, works like every other energy, but with it's own frequency and therefore, properties. You might have heard of some research involving the frequency of molecules, for instance. All molecules are ultimately made of the same basic three principle forms of materialized energy, those that make up atoms, and every combination of atoms results in a molecule which has a perfectly unique frequency. If that frequency is translated into another kind of waveform by use of the fourier transformation equations, for instance into sound, and then exposed to a substance (typically organic as it is the most reactive) just the sound alone will cause a reaction similar, sometimes identical, to the reaction that takes place when the molecule itself is present. It is the frequency that determines the properties, the substance itself is just a carrier. Chemical reactions are thought to be based on the interaction of these frequencies as well, and at the moment there is research being conducted to further understand how those frequencies interact when transformed into sound, electricity, light, etc. Fourier transformations, if you are not familiar, are equations used to translate one type of waveform into another - soundwaves, lightwaves, electricity wave, they are all similar in principle, but different in activity. Imagine healing diseases by introducing a frequency of light that would render the molecular structure of a virus or infecting bacteria inert! The light would be of a very high frequency, and would be undetectable by the human eye, high enough of frequency to pass through matter...

So during a session, do you actually touch the recipient? Or do your hands,
essentially, float over top of the recipients body? You said that it can be
considered that you are 'actively doing nothing', except acting as the
channel for the energy, so I didn't know.

Also, where does one normally practice? Much as a massage therapist can
practice anywhere quiet, so long as they have their table, I didn't know if
the same applied to a reiki master.

it isn't necessary to touch the recipient during a session, but I normally do. These days I practice reiki in line with the sacred intimate philosophy of body work, which is naturally geared towards physical connection. However, typically it isn't necessary. My teacher suggested that it was actually more effective not to touch the client, as the energy is then directed into the subtle bodies that surround the physical body, where the energy system can more efficiently utilize it. I've done it both ways, and haven't heard of any significant difference to support that idea.

However, it isn't actually necessary for the recipient to even be in the same room, although it is arguably more effective that way. Studies done with non-biased observers have shown that healings are just as effective whether or not the individual knows they are the subject of a healing, however individuals who received hands on healing - reiki and other forms - in person, on average show slightly higher rates of recovery from surgery and autoimmune diseases, as well as some kinds of cancer. Why some kinds and not others, it's difficult to say as I don't know enough about the various kinds of cancers that occur.

My personal take on it, when I am doing a session, I focus my attention initially on the physical sensation of my hands on the recipient's body as a catalyst for initiating the flow of reiki - not entirely necessary, as I can initiate that flow without any physical trigger, but it helps me get into the mood of healing. My own philosophy on healing is also somewhat tribal in nature, an I believe that the removal of clothing and the physical contact between the healer and the recipient is a powerful element of the process, as it represents the removal of barriers and separation between the two, allowing a more complete merger. That's not traditional reiki philosophy per say, but I adopted a handful of other philosophies on energetic healing over the course of my study and practice.

As I said, it's possible to do reiki at a distance. Traditionally, it is explained that reiki simply travels in a straight line to the recipient, regardless of time or space. Personally, I have a different theory, based more on what we are starting to understand about the nature of the quantum reality. Some time ago theorists established what they decided is the smallest possible physical dimension, named the planck length - it is the width of a single quanta, and is at the moment entirely theoretical - it was necessary to develop this calculation in order to apply what little quantum math we have in any effective way in relevence to the larger physical dimensions. Well, beyond this minimum length, the laws of time and space break down, and this is why we have so many questions about that level of reality - it confounds traditional mathematics altogether and creates an entirely new field of math. Well, one of the very promising theories regarding the nature of reality beneath this dimension, is the Quantum Potential Field. As I said, time and space are meaningless at this level, and this is a leading explanation for the interaction of particles at great distances - opposite ends of the earth, and given that, very likely opposite ends of the universe as well. There's even a few supporters of the theory that because of the nature of this QPF, particles can even interact across time. Well, to put it in a nutshell, this QPF is the basis of what is being called the Holographic Theory of Reality - if you are a reader, the book 'The Field' is an excellent primer on the theories between Holographic Reality and Healing, which draw some very promising conclusions and highlight some of the research that's been done over the past forty years or so - which posits that all information is spread holographically across the universe - that if you were to sample the QPF at any one point, you could extract information relevant to any other point in the universe. Because information must be stored to be accessed, the idea is that we are able to influence this field by our very existence, much less our intention and consciousness. So in my opinion, reiki is capable of crossing time and space due to this field. If I create a resonance of healing in my 'sector' towards someone else, wherever that person is, they recieve that resonance via the medium of the QPF. Since they are the target, and I focus on their existence, my association with them, a picture, etc., I have a sort of 'address' in the form of their resonance signature - every person has a very specific and unique resonance created possibly by their consciousness, possibly by the unique number and formation of the molecules that make up the physical body - there are so many possibilities to explain that that I will need another five years of education to have a more specific theory. However, given that we know now that an individual molecule has a unique resonance, I tend to lean towards that theory, except that it suggests a fluctuation as the molecules of the body are regularly changed out - no person would hold a steady resonance for any length of time, when experience tells me that a person's resonance only changes slowly over a period of time, usually trackable along a series of psychological breakthroughs and the accumulation of trauma and peak experiences.

As to where to practice, theories abound - I was taught that the space used for reiki should be cleansed and consecrated before a session, but that otherwise the social status of the place of work is irrelavent. I typically use a bedroom - if it is the recipient's bedroom, it's already attuned to their energy, so there is little interference; if it's my room, then I'm able to adjust the energy to the recipient, and the atmosphere there is permanently adjusted towards healing and energy work because of the regular use of the room. In my own opinion, a formal reiki session shouldn't be held in any kind of common room, because the room accumulates energetic resonance from everyone that spends time there, and it's intended to be an upbeat, social, nexus of activity. The bedroom is where we sleep, recover, gather energy, etc., so it's an ideal location. The next best place is a meditation room or place of worship, but few people have a specific space in their homes set aside for that purpose. I do, however, typicaly perform a consecration and purification ritual each time before a session, even for massage. Anything would do, I use what is called the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram, being a practicing magician, simply because it is a ritual I have been using for years and cultivates the proper state of mind and atmosphere necessary to 'banish' any negative energies in the immediate environment. My teacher recited the lord's prayer and rang a silver bell seven times. A know another practitioner who recites the Gayatri Mantra 108 times, and yet another who simply lights a stick of sandalwood incense and annoints the four corners of the room with olive oil.

It's very refreshing to talk at length about the subject, so feel free to keep asking. Of course, most of what I know and feel about reiki is based on experience and my own contemplation - the available material is very basic, although for a very thorough book on the subject of energetic healing all together is Barbara Brennen's "Hands of Light". Actually, if you could get in touch with Mrs. Brennen herself, I'm sure she would be delighted to give her account of reiki as well, and as a source, she's far more 'accredited'.

So changing rooms doesn't have a huge affect, but the normal energy levels
for that room do? And what you were saying about the QPF, that the energy can cross space and
time just by you thinking about the person (either the relationship, etc). So does that mean that you could concentrate your energy
towards someone you know, and where they would be a day later and they would
feel the energy at that time the following day? If you choose a bedroom because it's natural energy is relaxation, why would
one consecrate the room? Wouldn't you want the energy to remain as it was?
Why wouldn't a commonly active room be ok, in this case, so long as the room
was consecrated? What's involved in the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the
Pentagram, if you don't mind me asking?

The energetic state of the room is mutable, regardless, except in cases of extremely high density energy, which it would take more than a simple ritual to address - thing hauntings, 'cursed' places, etc. Also, the state of the energy in a room becomes impressed on the gross physical matter there so that a room that is repeatedly maintained at a high frequency and even density will be easier to balance and will expedite the function of reiki or any other energy work in that room. Let me explain all that...

Energy is a curious thing... when it comes to subtle energy, that is, energy of a nature so fine that common scientific equipment can't detect it in any significant range - which is to say that there is equipment which theoretically does detect this energy, but there are so many possible variables involved at that level that few are willing to concede that it is subtle energy in the sense that we talk about it here - there are three descriptors that describe the consistency of energy - Frequency; and Density. Density affects the movement of energy, and Frequency determines the 'properties' of the energy. Dense spots of energy have gravity, exactly the same thing as normal gravity, but the fine nature of this energy (think of matter itself as extremely low frequency, high density energy; we know that atoms and molecules emit an energy that can be measured by frequency remember; and we know that ultimately atoms are made up of what? Particles of energy) emits a gravity that is also superfine, affecting essentially only energy in the same bandwidth, although there is also the theory of the morphogenic field, which suggest that the cumulative effect of this subtle gravity does help shape the physical world. Just like with matter, gravity between densities can inhibit or expedite the alteration of the frequency of the energy in a particular area.

When the density is 'spread smooth' so that the entire space contains the same 'density' of energy, then the frequency can be adjusted up or down. The person doing the smoothing, becomes naturally attuned to the room in the process - imagine yourself, specifically your subtle body, as being a density of energy in a sea of it - and therefore the movement and changes of their own energy have greater influence on the space. This attunement happens because you are not really separate from the space around you, you are simply of a different density. That subtle energy of the space smooths out, making the individual the spot of highest density in a larger field, and therefore, the greatest influence on the local field of subtle gravity. The two densities pull on one another, and their frequencies average out. If the density of the energy in a space is clumped together, in a constant state of shifting which causes currents of energy that function just as the currents in the ocean do, which is to say, by the same principles of pressure, caused by the densities pulling on one another. The movement of any energy in the room will be affected by this chaotic state of energy, and so, any reiki done in such a room will be less effective as the current created in the field of the practitioner, who's own subtle body is being pulled this way and that by the differing densities, will not flow smoothly, and the frequency will be pulled up and down as well, so that the energy is disjointed in a way. There would be probably no very bad consequences, but clients do sometimes get jittery or nervous, when reiki should be very relaxing.

So, when the frequencies average out, reiki comes through the practitioner, and not only is it's frequency barely disturbed, but it radiates out as the even density of the room pulls it outwards in all directions. Think of a hot cup of coffee surrounded by an cing of ice cubes. The ice cubes are far slower molecules, while those of the coffee are moving really fast - the energy moving them, passes from the high vibration - hi frequency - area, to the lower, and the ice cubes warm up, and melt. It's the same energy, a sort of higher bandwidth of kinetic energy if you will, moved around by a higher bandwidth of electro magnetic energy. If you think about it, it's really common sense - while we only experience a range of various types of vibrations, we know that the light spectrum (the EM spectrum) the sound spectrum, etc., and we know that there is more above and below it. In fact, we assume that the spectrum ultimately knows no ultimate limit - it could extend in both directions indefinitely. If these same physical forces we're familiar with all have higher bandwidths, then it stands to reason those bandwidths have interactions on their 'level' in a related fashion to those on this level, but, naturally, less divisive owing to the higher level of cohesion between all waveforms of such a high frequency. Everything that gets hot enough ultimately melts, vaporizes, and mixes together, no?

So this is why the state of energy in a room is important. A lot of this probably sounds like what you'd call 'psuedo science' and lacking as I do equations, etc., granted that they would be meaningless to you anyway probably, and from one perspective it is. A lot of what I know, I draw from eastern philosophies which have always had plenty to say about the interactions of subtle energies, and coupling that with a long time experiential study and observation of how I feel, how clients feel, what sort of differences in the way I do it, how I think, what I visualize or feel around me during a session, all as sort of the process of learning how to really do a reiki session - which is really not something they can teach you, since just the attunements and the philosophy and mechanics are just the external part, which is easy to teach about. I spent a lot of time, and still do, spending attention on what the 'mood' of a room is - like when you walk in on what is obviously a very emotional situation, or a better example could be walking through a long abandoned building - and learning how that mood corresponds to what's going on in the room, where the 'feeling' comes from, how being in one part of a room or situation can feel different than being in another context to it, etc. So when we talk about how energy moves, it's on a subtle scale that's almost inconcievable, only because we are immersed in this sea of energy that impacts every part of our existence so constantly that we simply take it for granted as just the fabric of reality, the way things are.

So, in conclusion, changing rooms could have an effect depending on the room, and the normal energy levels and patterns for that room - patterns as in common placement of dense spots in that room (places where people sit, any place that attracts attention like a tv or speakers, a painting, or perhaps some antiques or sentimental items, a resident ghost constitutes a density) - are why there is an effect, and so consequently, of greater technical concern, while the former is of greater philosophical concern. "What is this room for?"

You don't appear to have misunderstood. Now, as to whether you would feel it - yes, but you'd have to be paying attention. A lot of people thing of energy as having some kind of very physical effect - arcing electricity off their fingers, a sudden pulse of 'electrical' force through the spine and body; and these things are possible. The human body does produce electrical currents, and certainly if the energy flowing along the channels is dense enough and of a high enough frequency, it will pull on those electromagnetic impulses in the body, but this is of the quality of what the tantricists' parashakti, or kundalini - the governing energy of creation that is of such a fine nature, of such a high vibration that it interpenetrates all existence. This energy then, bridges the gaps between all levels of energy, being coherent - remember we spoke of light waves and coherency before? If I haven't I will next round - with all frequencies. Think of it as a number so high that every number beneath it is a factor of it. Litterally an inconcievable number that defies all reason and logic. Like the number 0, of which the hindu's are credited with creating.

I mention this because it also explains why and maybe to a degree the basics of how, such energetic communication is possible over limitless dimensions of time and space. Time is harder to explain, but observable effects are there to show us it can and does happen. But, first about being able to pay attention to the right things.

Energy, then, is typically not a very gross feeling of warmth, vibration of the limbs, etc., though these things can show the presence of energy, those feelings are a reaction, not the observation itself. Just like some people can see better, because the path from the cornea to the brain is just better tuned, some people will have more prominent reactions to energetic changes, based on path from their subtle bodies to their physical one. However, that doesn't mean only some people can sense and 'see' energy - everyone can and does.

The secret to it is really found right in our daily use of context with the word Energy - we say a day when we are lethargic, slow to cheer, kind of disconnected with everything, especially after a heartbreak, as having low energy, and moments of elation, creativity, vitality, etc., as having high energy. Those moments are governed by the interactions of frequencies of energy in your subtle body that in turn affect the movement of energy in your physical body. Think of the channels known as meridians or nadis, which move energy around the body, in a system that includes the chakras and accupuncture points, along currents of particularly dense subtle energy. The same principles that apply to the interactions of energy in a room, apply to the interaction amongst your subtle bodies, which are anchored to the gravity of your physical body. Being superdense, in terms of energy, the body has gravity that pulls on subtle energy in the order of a difference between the gravity of the sun and the gravity of the moon. The earth and moon tug on one another - the gravity of the sun holds the various planets and asteroids in orbit around itself. This cocoon of subtle energy is the aura, composed of the various grades of subtle material, each determined by a higher order of bandwidth successively towards the level at which there is no variation in density, at the level of Kundalini Parashakti, I mentioned before.

The changes of frequency in these subtle bodies cause all reactions in our bodies. Emotions, thoughts, bursts of creativity, bursts of physical energy, epiphanies, etc., when the frequency is high we call it abundance, when it is low, we call it depletion. Really the relative 'amount' of energy in the subtle bodies is a constant. THe higher the density is, the more easily a high frequency can be sustained, while the lower it is, the more prone to shifting up and down it is.

So, when we receive energy, any number of things might happen to us. We have to pay attention, not for a sensation, but for a change. Some kind of positive change. There is a mechanic to which change will come first, but it's different for different people. So, for instance, when reiki is done for an HIV patient, the physical body itself may not be the first place that change takes place. In negotiating densities (if they are extreme and disparate throughout the body they are called energy blockages, so called because the subtle gravity of such spots, typically at a low frequency, causes the energy currents around it to warp), it may need to overcome some density in the astral body, the mental body, or the emotional body. That is why most practitioners suggest using a combination of therapies to overcome serious diseases - traditional medicine, herbal medicine, something physical; psychological therapy to help along the mental and perhaps emotional bodies; being active and social regularly to immerse oneself in high energy places and situations; an so on, so that those blockages will dispense faster, and ultimately allow the physical body to function properly, and more importantly, allow Reiki energy to permeate the physical body more thoroughly, which is the condition at which miracles occur.

The changes that occur in each level of the body can be mixed, positive and negative, in any given place, but in really social places are often sort of averaged out, so that each body will experience a similar direction of change. By paying attention to the various reactions of the subtle bodies - again, tracked by paying attention to one's emotional state, mental state ( i.e., the quality of one's thoughts, the abundance of them, the creativity in them, any moments of epiphany or the sudden coherence between discrete concepts, etc.), physical state of energy (nervous, calm, warm, cold, any subtle vibrations), the subtle sounds in the ear (the ringing that is basically constant if you stop and listen to 'nothing'), even a subtle kind of olfactory sensation - one becomes more attentive and therefore sensitized to a mix of particular sensations that are beneath and typically accurately precede the physical changes of our body and especially our emotions.

So, yes you would feel it, but you'd have to be paying attention. For this reason, recipients are often asked to choose a period of meditation during the day that a distance session is to take place, so that at least for some period that day, they will have time to allow the energy of their subtle bodies to become more malleable and evened out, so that the energy coming to them through the field can have a more pronounced effect. There would be an effect regardless, but the energy is kept in motion by the daily living, and so will not be as noticeable to the recipient, unless they happen to be very sensitive, and attentive to their state of energy.

The energy of a room for relaxation doesn't necessarily need to be consecrated, and the session is typically done on a place that has the greatest density of energy in the room - the place of rest like a bed or massage table - however, each successive consecration will run a sort of 'groove' in the room, so that energy has more of a tendancy to stay that way, and so will become increasingly more effective, to the point that some places instantly change your state of energy just by walking into them at all, even casually. If you go to some temples of very focused and ritualized faiths, like cathedral, hindu temples, buddhist sanctuaries, etc., you can experience this first hand, sacred places feel unmistakably sacred, and that's why - your vibration and consistency of density is lifted up and you become suddenly more coherent with something huge and of such a high vibration that you feel connected to something bigger, even for just the time that you're there.

So, there is a benefit, and it is cumulative, hence a place is typically chosen specifically for the purpose, and repeated consecrated and used. 'Spot Reiki' is useful and acceptable for general purposes, I dont get up and consecrate the room everytime I do reiki on my jaw for the pain in my wisdom teeth, or on my stomach after I eat a big meal.

By the same token, a commonly used room like the living room, for instance, or especially a tv room, can be consecrated and used, but may not 'hold' the consecration if it's an especially agitated room, or may 'resist' the change in frequency, or keep it low if it's generally kept at a low frequency. Think of the average between to numbers. The lower the lowest number, the lower the average.

Also, the density of energy in a room can be higher than another, which can expedite the movement of energy throughout the session.

Now, the LBRP, or Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram, is a practice of ritual or ceremonial magick, which is something I practice for a number of reasons all centered around my observation of the interaction between the mechanics of will and intention within the subtle bodies, and how those mechanics ultimately interact with the Field at large, many of which we've discussed. The hermetic science, a school of metaphysics, addresses energy with an elemental vocabulary, arranging the order of the various grades of energy, from physical matter to the most subtle grade of energy, into five elements - earth, air, fire, water, and the Akasha - also called Ether, Odyl, and kundalini parashakti. Akasha is the finest of the grades of energy, and is all pervasive, manifesting the other energies ultimately, followed by fire, the essential electric grade of energy, on par with water, the essential magnetic quality of energy. The movement between the two manifests Air, the transient fluctuation of energy, comparably to the wave itself, really a spiral, constantly cycling back and forth. The element of earth is naturally the most gross grade of nature, constituting the physical matter itself, or rather, the quality of Density in energy. So here we have then, the four qualities of all energy, plus an all encompassing substrate of energy in Akasha, sometimes called spirit.

The lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram is so called because it is a ritual that banishes chaotic energy patterns in a space, by addressing each of the qualities of energy and equalizing them, and finally adressing and acknowledging, and therefore attracting, the fifth element of Akasha in order to 'empower' the room. The ritual is based on kabbalistic and hermetic philosophies, combining the elemental equalization with powerful concepts through the use of divine names and the elemental archangels - the beneficent facet of the concepts of each energy personified, in my opinion. Divine names are patterns of sounds that have been used for the purpose of sanctification for so many countless generations that they are deeply rooted into their relelvant attributions, or information really, within the Field, and so when spoken, called to mind, contemplated, and intended as catalysts of change in a local area inherently through their use in an intentional way. What came first, the chicken or the egg? THe same can be wondered about angelic beings and divine names. I'm a philosopher, and suggest they arrived at the same time.

The over all effect is first the equalization of density and frequency in a space, secondly the connection and attunement of the practitioner to the space, and thirdly to establish an intentional presence and consciousness of the space. So that during a session, if I am at peace, clear, empty, and allowing energy to flow, so does the space in my room follow suit, doing as I do by nature of the established rapport with that space.

Understanding how subtle energy moves, is a bit like learning a new language. Everything means something, and that meaning is a symbol of what the energy is doing. Symbols, far more diverse than there are concepts, and capable of creating a single entity out of discrete concepts, are the way that we interpret everything that transcends the physical reality. A wall, by the nature of what it does, causes a particular movement of energy. Windows, televisions, animals, all of them are phsyical forms that bring together various functions of energy into a coherent symbol that acts in the physical, as it those functions act on the subtle level.

Humans are uniquely possessed of so many of the talents to use and manipulate energy, because we are given a particular set up that allows for it. because we have this ability to intend, and will, and thereby create, we became convinced that we are the children of God, made in it's image, whatever it is. But in every system, there are parts that are active, and parts that are passive. There is the electricity, and the metal it passes through. The software, and the hardware. But, using energy, and directing the movement of energy in such a dynamic way, far more dynamic than any other animal and certainly all plants and other gross material patterns, is what we do, maybe even what we're for, as part of a system too vast to comprehend. By understanding the movement of energy and re-learning how to navigate the world by this subtle reality rather than only the material, everything in life becomes more meaningful, more intense, and more importantly, it all makes a lot more sense. it's almost as if tapping into a higher kind of information creates some kind of coherency in consciousness itself, which knits the world together into a reality far more real than it was before, if that could possibly make sense.

Yeah, so I'm always open to discussion and stuff, but I also like to share anything I just happen to accumulate after a while, you know, allow it to see some use beyond maybe it's original purpose.

peace
