Hello,

This is the first time that I have ever been stumped as to how to write an introduction to myself on a forum, so please bare with me, it should be over soon (IMG:style_emoticons/default/13.gif).

My name is Julian, I'm 20 and from Boston, Mass. For as long as I can remember I've had an interest in magic, but until I was about 17 or 18 it remained passive, a sort of fantasy possibility in which so many things were possible. Something to tell stories and make up outlandish tales about, really.

When I was 16 I came across a book by H.P. Lovecraft and fell in love with his works for the sheer horror of his topicality. Over the years I continued to read his stories (more like obsessed, I've spent about $300 on anthologies and analytical books on Lovecraft and his works), and ever so slowly the elements of occultism in his works rekindled, or perhaps stoked the fire, of my interest in magic and the occult to a point where I was mentally ready, but physically unable (I lacked certain freedoms to move about and do as I wished), to start on the journey. Now I am able in all regards, and that's why I'm here.

I realize that Lovecraft's stories are nothing but stories. That the Necronomicon is truly nothing but a literary device which has seeped into popular culture to such an extent that it is considered by many to be a real grimoire (an idea supported by the Simon Necronomicon and so many others out there). I will not be able to summon great dark Gods from the innermost recesses of the universe, or rise the Great Cthulhu.

Yet, I can persue the TRUTH. Which is what I seek. The truth behind life and death, behind Heaven, Hell and everything in between, the ultimate reality. A lofty goal, but one I feel I must persue. And if true reality is anywhere near as blasphemous as that which Lovecraft painted, then I'll be happy with my insanity (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif).

Anyway, that's me, hope it wasn't to dramatic. I'm here to learn.

I also like to write stories and a bit of philosophy every now and then.
