I have edited my introduction to give a better idea of who I am and what I am trying to accomplish.

I am a college student and an aspiring magician I guess you could stay. In college I am a student of psychology, but I am hoping to pursue a career in neuropsychology in the future. My other main area of interest has been Hermetics and Franz Bardon. I feel like I have recently woken up, and now I have a total thirst for knowledge of all kinds.

I guess you could say my "quest" began this summer with my dad buying me two books on meditation to help me try and overcome my ADD/ADHD. The books were "Balancing the Mind", and another which I have forgotten. The book is what first made me aware of study of treatment of psychological problems through meditation at the University of Wisconsin, and is something I also would like to pursue.

As far as my "magical path" goes, I have found the meditation exercises in the book extremely difficult which has been slightly discouraging. I can't seem to hold absence of thought for very long at all. I either consciously think about what I am trying to achieve, or have a slight moment where I slip up and forget what I am doing.

Before the start of all of this I was not religious at all, and I have been out of touch with God for a very long time. My purpose for joining this forum is that I am hoping it will offer some sort of mentorship and encouragement as I begin this journey of 1,000 miles.

Any advice or inspiration would be greatly appreciated.
