Where to start? Well, the contents. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) The book is split into nine chapters: "Symbols of Ancient Civilizations", "Religious Symbols: Western and Middle-Eastern", "Religious Symbols: Eastern", "Esoteric and Magical Symbols", "Symbols From the Natural World", "Animal Symbols", Symbols of Power", "Sacred Architecture", and "Time, Shape, Number and Colour", as well as a brief but very informative introduction to the topic of symbols. As you can see, the book covers a wide range of symbols and cultures, both mystical and mundane - ranging from ceremonial magick to Christianity to heraldry, there is a huge wealth of knowledge contained within this book!

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in symbolism - I personally have found it extremely useful in my magical workings (especially tarot, scrying and solomonic magic) but there is also (as I previously mentioned) a lot of more mundane symbolism included which may be off putting for some people, although I personally found it rather interesting. I don't really know what else to say about it! It's a brilliant book - a great read and a great reference book. My only two criticisms of it though are that it isn't quite as centered on magic as perhaps some people would prefer (although this is down to personal preference I suppose!) and the sigils etc in the ceremonial magic don't have as much of a description about each as I would have liked.

Anyway, in conclusion, this book is a great read, makes an excellent reference book and covers a very wide range of topics within symbolism. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone interested in symbols! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/egypt1.gif)
