The Death Of Steve Irwin. Options

I just found out today that Steve Irwin was killed off the coast of Australia. I know this has nothing to do with the occult or anything, but I have a very strong connection with nature and this guy was one of my heroes. He did so much to teach everyone the beauty of our world. At least he died doing what he lived for. My prayers will be with his family in these days. May he rest in peace. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/Symbols_1911.gif)

I am an Australian, and Steve lived literally up the road from me. He was an incredible human being, and was never any different to the way people saw him in the media. His love of nature and the environment was something that I was always in aww of. Yesterday was a very sad day for all Australians and for many around the world who appreciated the work and the life that he lived. In many ways I believe that he would have felt satisfied that he died doing what he loved. He truly is an inspiration and he will be missed greatly by his fellow Aussies and Queenslanders. He was a true reflection of what life was about and never being afraid to live or be oneself.

Not for killing but for the huge courage and heart they have. It takes balls to do the kind of stuff this guy did. I trust as he crosses over his courage on Earth will be honored in heaven.

He stalked lions. He faced off with poisonous snakes. He wrestled with crocodiles. When the end came for television's beloved "Crocodile Hunter," it was in an encounter with a stingray and its venomous tail barb.

Perhaps it wasn't surprising. Steve Irwin died doing what he loved best, getting too close to one of the dangerous animals he dedicated his life to protecting with an irrepressible, effervescent personality that propelled him to global fame.

The 44-year-old Irwin's heart was pierced by the serrated, poisonous spine of a stingray as he swam with the creature Monday while shooting a new TV show on the Great Barrier Reef, his manager and producer John Stainton said.

Marine experts called the death a freak accident. They said rays reflexively deploy a sharp spine in their tails when frightened, but the venom coating the barb usually just causes a very painful sting for humans.

Freak accident in the eyes of some perhaps....considering that this has only ever been recorded twice as ever being fatal (especially a strike through the heart) I would be inclined to think that Steve has gone exactly the way he wanted to. When I was told of his death the person asked me if I could guess how, naturally I thought that a croc had gotten him or perhaps a snake bite never something this defined and unusual. If Steve had a plan for bowing out of this game it was surely this.

Smasher, I think there is definately a special place for Steve. I feel for his family too especially his beautiful little girl Bindy. They did a special on television here last night on Bindy and I have no doubt that his legacy and the person he was will live on through her. I felt so bad for her now though, for all the pain she is going to have to endure for her loss and I hope that she realises the nessecity for it. It is wonderful to see others touched on the other side of the globe, thankyou.

Well, maybe now people will learn to leave the damn animals alone (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif). Like I told smasher on IM, if you're not going to kill 'em to eat 'em or wear 'em, don't bother 'em.

It is AWFUL news. Steve Irwin was a real fantastic person. Unaffected completely by his fame and fortune. A special person. Me & my famly adored his wildlifeTV programs. The way he put himself at risk all the time with the animals he loved so much was a real show stopper. We unfortunately never managed to see him in his show at the Australia Zoo in Queensland. We went last September hoping to see him in his show. But it is so upsetting in the light of it all.

His family must be devasted. I know the guy was loved by Millions around the world and Australia have lost their No1 icon. It is awful.
