I created my first servitor about a week or so ago with the tast of being a Watcher. I only gave him this task so it would be something simple for my first attempt, and i had the source come from my energy supply. I gave it an current unlimited date to be around until i felt fit. I wanna know how I can tell if I have correctly done the creation, I haven't to yet tried to speak with him through meditation, but I have seen slight open-eyed visions of him while i glance at windows (somewhat like him on the window looking out to me) I'm not sure if its in my head, or if thats his way of showing me he is here. Also, is it fine to use myself as an energy source for him? (since he is created from my own energy, I thought it would be fine) Finally, is it alright to give it an unlimited time, and just banish it whenever I feel is fine? (as long as I don't keep it around forever)

Servitors are generally really powerful in the first 2 weeks. I'm not sure why, but since it's taking your personal energy, you should notice that it'll be taking plenty of energy from you, and that it's very easy to see (which is why you see it looking at you). Eventually, they figure out how to moderate their energy usage and get the most out of small amounts of energy. It's as if they're over-eager to do what you ask of them in the beginning but since they're young they don't always get something done right the first time, so they take more juice and try again, etc.
If you're very nice to your servitor and treat it nicely, meaning you say good morning, and good night, and think about it regularly or actively try to communicate with it and tell it to rest in it's home (if it has one) while it doesn't have a task to do, then it shouldn't turn on you. Giving food offerings will also help establish a loving relationship.
I don't really understand why so many mage's try to force their will on servitors and punish them for not doing something, etc. I'm not surprised to read about when they try to kill their master. Simply asking nicely is enough to get a task done quickly and easily. I have 2 that I've taken under my wing as familiars and have not had any problems. They seem to be very loyal and a great help with healing and various tasks I set for them, especially manipulating the weather. I wouldn't regret having to destroy them if I felt they were messing with me or were simply behaving badly, but for now I feel safe with them.

QUOTE(Theft @ Oct 30 2006, 12:46 AM) I guess that would bring me to another question then. After already having a servitor created, would I be able to change its task to something else? I am no expert one the subject, but from my own experiences: If you create a servitor and give it a specific task than it should be destroyed after the said task it done. Instead of having to "reprogram" the energy of the old one, it would be much easier and perhaps more effective to simply create a new one who will not having any "old programing" (ie emotions, ideas, and tasks willed into it by the magickian) effectings its actions. On the other hand, if your aim is to create a concious spirit who will be able to provide an array of tasks/relationships with the magickian than read the above post made by altpath. If this is the route which you want to go than it will be necessary to devote a good deal of time and work into it. At any rate, kudos to you on your first servitor! QUOTE(Sekmeth @ Nov 2 2006, 01:21 PM) Donnow, but it have the impression that it still tries to contact me, nothin negative though. The thing that worries me is since it's possible destruction, are my emotions. There is a lot of anger and aggressiveness... Maybe I can use them to make a new baby ? Like altpath said, ritual destruction of its material "body" can go a long way in removing its energetic "body", certainly with this as a specific ritual intent . . . (my practice doesn't include generic banishing as a specific method of ending the servitor . . . maybe making me less accessable . . . but not ending it). But this is certainly the point where specific, even ritual, re-absorbtion of the servitor can help. Not only to you energetically eliminate its energy/spiritual body and in the process give it "someplace" to rest (ie, back into your energy body) . . . but psychologically you substantiate its useful end. Its a basic process of giving closure. I can imagine that, at least psychologically, even after you intend that your servitor is simply "dead" due to it completing is function or simply from lack of attention . . . the fact that you continue to think about it, continues to give it energy (or creates new thoughtforms that are "similar" to the original servitor). Reabsorbing completes its useful life-cycle, provides you with a sense of closure and returns the energetic "mass" to it appropriate source. emotion (anger, joy, sadness . . . ) are natural things. Its your job to balance and equalize these attenuations. But don't split them off from yourself to perform functions and then leave them out there to do as they will . . . this is how personal demons can be formed. Welcome them back to their source, appriciate what they've done for you as a seperate entity and what they can do for you as a reintegrated part of the whole (the All in a microcosmic sense). You can use them do do anything you want . . . in the real "truth" (I Know Nothing), you are using them anyway . . . split off or reintegrated, appriciated or ignored. Theft, I can only speak for myself. I could create multiple critters, for multiple purposes or for a concerted effort toward a single intent. I tend to (for my own lack of mental discipline) create one . . . then a short time (whatever), create others as I "see" how the work is progressing. I find, two's company . . three's a crowd. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) But your work is yours. And you have to judge your need, attention and energy available. Plus . . . you might find that you don't need more after all. (divinition can help in these kinds of matters too . . . invest time and effort in a pendulum. I've only started this kind of divining in the last year, and its nice to have a simple, straight forward method . . . although a simple I Ching approach (yin/yang or di-gram) can serve too). Theft . . . there are some threads already on Tarot, so I won't replay any of that (a search will bare it out). I tend to use the Thoth deck these days (with Duquetts book), but thats just now, later is then (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) For the I Ching . . . I use both Wilhelm/Baynes I Ching and R. L. Wing's books. But I can't honestly tell you if they are the best . . . just the ones I use. (there are some good web sites too). The I Ching is one of those areas though, that can get as deep as one wants . . . its a rabbit hole of Alice proportions, which is great . . . but can get distracting too. Kinjo has a doc on the pendulum . . . seems as good as any. But, the pend is so simple, it really doesn't take much documentation to use . . . just practice, like any other occult pursuit.
