Donald Tyson: 'portable Magick' Anyone Had Any Results?, Tarot Options

Okay since dedicating myself to the Tarot for a few months I decided to purchase Donald Tyson's book 'Portable Magic: Tarot is the only tool you need. Basically there is a set of rituals, but one of the practices in the book which I am currently working on is to establish a psychic connection with another person.
The ritual is done via the astral in which you project yourself into the card or what is known as your 'significator'. Apprently you do not need to have a high level or projection but just to be able to see the physical and astral world and hold it in your mind. It works on using another significator as the other person and using the imagination to get a connection as displayed in the book. I haven't had much results with this however it deffinitly works, just im not doing it right. Would anyone be able to identify where I might be going wrong? I consider myself new to Magick and I thought someone might be able to identify a reoccuring flaw in someones technique that might be applied to me, or even better if anyone has worked this kind of system before and established results. If so, how long did it take and what happened?

Have you learned to read Tarot and perform divinations? A rudimentary understanding of the aforementioned is probably suggested before attempting ritual-magick with The Tarot.
