What do you do for fun??

I'm tired of coming home from work, slumping on the sofa and picking the best of crap TV to watch, any ideas how to occupy myself and kill time???

pursue the arts, sing, dance, create, use your imagination, meditate, excrete bad energy, take apart, put together, create edible brews....cook, plant flowers, or just plants in general, feel their lifeforce, learn from an animal companion you may have, conisder getting another, or one if you have none, observe the weather, bask in the sunshine, feel the fury of a rain storm, tap on your desk, i duno its endless, just open your mind, try smokin weed hell! play with your energy wheels on your body, sing in the shower....ok lol im done you get the idea ^^

much love

turn off the tv (mind control) and pick up a xbox 360 (expanding the mind)

required play: (almost all are mature games with realistic gore and violence - i don't know what is on the ps3 as i develop on 360)
bioshock (plasmids are the visualization of psionics, will and determination, entropy)
mass effect (exopolitics/extraterrestrial entities, duty and mentalism)
blacksite (introduction to odd mixtures of creatures, and true evil and true forgiveness)
jumper (crappy game based on the movie, but 'jumping' as teleportation visualization)
legendary (introduction to legendary creatures and interacting with them - too bad you have to kill them)

breakthroughs:
being able to visualize things and succeed much easier because you already have an image in your head
blurring the line between reality and fantasy, and life and death, and fiction and non-fiction
finally seeing re-spawning as reincarnation
re-wiring of the brain by repeatedly imprinting images on the subconscious
finding that death and killing in the game is just as real as deathand killing in reality
remembering past life experiences to avoid the same problem this time
destruction of the ego by getting your ass kicked repeatedly by my and other's variable-rich ai constructs
growing patience by grinding through a hardcore level multiple times until you make it (my current lessoning in farcry2)
recognising that dark is the other side of light, and by combining dark with light you become whole again

lately i'm recognising the 'eternal soul'/hga/'higher self'/etc as you operating your character, like the soul is not in the body, the body is merely the physically pseudo-podded portion of the soul (a'la the seven woods as fragments of the sacred tree), and acceptance of the soul intentionally creates a 'split mind' existence - we can connect momentarily to the wholeness of our real existence (resolving the split/crossing the abyss, but it fades since we are on something resembling dial-up, and what we need is dsl (a chemical, like maybe dmt?))

garden....walk in the rain. (no lightning though)

meditating, dance...just dance by yourself, alone, for fun, and don't you dare be embarrassed (you don't have to be good)
who the hell is watching anyway?

sing.

go to a poetry slam. learn how to draw something or paint.

if you don't have a dog, get one. walk him or her everyday, and PLAY with him or her. you obviously don't play enough.

get a second job. no reason being bored, when you can make more money instead.

take a class, learn another language. (and then USE it)

go on a trip somewhere. out of state is REQUIRED.

exercise. i guarantee, things will get less boring when you feel good about yourself and you feel healthy.

if you are addicted to something. quit the addiction. and then distract yourself with a better habit.

go outside with a trashbag, and clean up the neighborhood. pick up trash.

take a nap on the grass in the sun where there isn't a lot of foot traffic. and if you do this, make a picnic for yourself: fresh strawberries or cherries. wear suntan lotion and read love poetry to yourself. read it and mean it. do this alone. love yourself sincerely.

go for a bike ride, learn how to kayak or canoe, roller blade, or hike a trail.

go to a small library, spend the entire day there with a stack of books or
deposit yourself in the oldest ugliest and most comfy/smelly chair you can find...and read for an hour and a half.

put on some comfortable clothes. light a scented candle, roll up your sleeves, and cook from scratch to some calming music. clean as you go, so you don't have to clean up afterward then buy a nice bottle of wine and eat by yourself in the candlelight. chew. take your time. you deserve a feast. you deserve to be spoiled. take a bubble bath to some nice music and go to bed early. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) you know what to do from there!

perform/express yourself in a random public space; if you play guitar or sing or dance or do poetry...perform it where a lot of people can see and marvel at your spontaneity. trust me...people love it. you love it. its a confidence booster.
public spaces can include: coffee shop, mall entrance, a square, a open air market, a trail, down town sidewalk,...etc. etc.
if you are really brave, put a hat down and see people offer change up to your entertainment. talk to people who approach you. you will make friends and learn some things you didn't know (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Save up some money for a plane/cruise ticket to Europe. Pack a few things, go and back pack around Europe, act like a gypsy, make money anyway you can, meet people and experiment/explore with them and never say no. . .

I shoot people.....

Well on Grand theft auto that is. I like to play video games. Although being a poor white boy, I can't afford the newer stuff (I'm stuck with a used PS2 I bought a while back). But some of my friends have xbox 360 and there some cool games on that too. If gaming isn't your style maybe try some good ole Tai Chi or take up martial arts. Maybe take up drawing are some form of art too. Or if you have the money and time maybe go back to school and start taking some classes! Then again maybe you're already doing that.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) i thought surely you'd suggest mixing chemicals acid. *chuckles

just another suggestion....streaking? go buck wild through the neighborhood in your birthday suit! wooo!!! do it sober! woooo! nighttime, adds to the elements of mystery and mischief i guess but if you are a more courageous soul then I, try the day time lol.

classes you can take? bad ideas 101.

for the ps2, the required games would be: (been there, done that before, but just for fun - although the ps2 uses a subset of linux as its os, there is no much ps2 dev work in usa)
black (teaches patience and planning - no reincarnation sucks ghey balls)
killzone (daring to press the envelope, danger, the abyss)
mercenaries (the concept of dangerous places, like the north korean main base like bad astral areas, and the concept of overkill, flying visualization)
star wars battlefront2 (navigating space visualization, patience, visualization of jedi powers)
rogue trooper (a superb class in anger management 101, what you do can hurt you, and the concept of being played)

The best way to kill time, and its absolutely free! is to go to the land of no-time.
Turn the Television off, turn on some tunes, get yourself a drink if you want then just get comfortable and let your fantasies run wild. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/prop.gif)

There is something about occult girls and video games, because I play them a lot too. I like Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (as lame as that sounds), Halo, Mario, Guitar Hero, Grand Theft Auto and some others. . . (IMG:style_emoticons/default/Gigakach_02.gif)

I <3 me my videogames. I'm actually a collector.

Right now I've blown the dust off Phantasy Star Online on the Gamecube. I can now play it and PSO Ep. III online (there are quite a few private servers for it still) as a friend of mine sent me a keyboard adapter so I can now communicate with my fellow players. Always a bonus. I bought the BBA last summer, which was good, as they're scarce now.

Other favourites:

King of Fighters series
Tekken Series
Darkstalkers 2 and 3 (w00 Saturn)
Chessmaster
Clubhouse Games
Neves
Bloody Roar series
Castlevania series
Battlezone
Phoenix
Qix
Space Invaders Extreme

and the list goes on.

I just can't play FPSs on screens larger than a DS, otherwise I get simsick, and games are no fun when the room is spinning and you're seeing double...

mmmmm....the absolute satisfaction of grinding the aqueduct mission in farcry2, in hardcore - builds character! lol

simple, just accept the mission, meet your buddy, then go to the mine and steal the tnt, then blow the safety system, then blow the water pipe, die, repeat

if they don't get you at the mine, they get you at the safety system, or they get you at the pipe, or they get you escaping the area after

i keep getting splatted by a bazillion jeeps (while getting shot) - who the hell programs ai to intentionally run you over if they are in a vehicle? - many kudos to the ubisoft farcry2 team (except for the stupid malaria) - not the best ai in the world, but fantastic - unpredictable is good

Actually, I do. Soul Calibur and Tekken were both done by Namco which is why they use the same or similar engines--Tekken 4 vs. SC 2? I'm just bored with SC 2 and 3 right now.

the trick is, we're not out to impress anybody (at least, speaking for myself - i would never put words in somebody else's mouth) - good conduit for my inner rage

another freaking diamond mine mission (finally actually lived through the last one), this time with an assassination and an escape (probably meaning death by jeep) - this stuff teaches discipline - how come their mortar rounds explode and mine don't??? (all duds i guess) - infuriating cause i wanted to bombard them into red slime

LOL!

I've been collecting them since I was a kid. I got my Atari 2600 for my 5th birthday in 1979, LOOOONG before impressing guys crossed my mind. Thing still works, too. So does my Intellivision, and my NES, SNES, Genesis, etc....

I just don't have any of the current-gen systems beyond the DS. I don't have $400 to shell out on a new unit.

QUOTE(skye-foxe @ May 5 2009, 09:20 AM) *

What do you do for fun??

Make something. Make anything. Something made by hand is something that did not exist before. Is this not a wonder?

*ahem*

Sorry. Attempt at humor = FAIL.

But seriously, for a hobby, you can't beat making things. Making can be a path to meditation if you can empty your mind of everything except the matter at hand. Builds concentration. Can make someone interested in improving a skill. If you make something for your practice of the Art, it's a bonus.

Just remember safety glasses if you start knapping flint, polishing crystals, or running power tools...

As for knitting, just for fun, should you take it up, see how many symbols you can knit into a blanket. I've seen people do that and it's pretty cool.

Rambling,
Hermetic668
