cool stuff, isn't religion just something you belive, or have come to know? isn't religion all of the religions you respect? isn't religion what you'd die for? what you'd live for? i study/take note of practices, stories, and events from norse, celtic, egyptian, greek and so on and so forth, like all religion has something to say...its kinda SWEEEEEET i conisder myself christian for one purpose really, christ was the son of god and gave us a link to heaven that we did not have before, true or not it is what i belive and helps me stay in the light of the universe...it also forces my mind to wander very much which i like to do, a question offten raised is, arn't we all children of god? and if so why arn't we in his light....
its weird huh?

QUOTE(Acid09 @ Jun 8 2009, 09:11 PM) Just to be clear I did not create this test and I agree there are some religions not mentioned - why not throw in Jedism, I mean hey what even is a religion?. But if we wanted to we could list any number of tribal or local religions found around the world. Each group of people have their own belief system. Even similar belief systems are not practiced the same by two different groups of people. Catholics in Ireland do not practice Catholicism exactly the same way as people might in Mexico or Brazile.
But to be fair this is a simple quiz and really for answering only 20 questions it does include a fair share of religions that are not that main stream. I mean liberal quakers? They exist? Bahá'í Faith? I had to look that up! I had no idea that it had anything to do with the Muslim faith. And I took college level classes that covered eastern religions!
Bahaai faith, that's like moslem religion but replace muhammed with bahaa alah....they say that the angel Gabriel made a mistake, and dilivered the quran to muhhamed insted of bahaa alah, supposed he was high then...! (dont mean ill Gabriel, you know I love you). I like the approach of the universal religion more...more of the worship of the creative force behind,Buddha,Yhvh,Alah,Raa,it comes from one source the name is different.. Truth seekers of the world unite..

Very interesting results, and quite unexpected: 1. Neo-Pagan (100%) 2. Unitarian Universalism (95%) 3. New Age (94%) 4. Liberal Quakers (81%) 5. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (78%) 6. Mahayana Buddhism (74%) 7. Reform Judaism (73%) 8. New Thought (71%) 9. Secular Humanism (71%) 10. Scientology (70%) 11. Theravada Buddhism (69%) 12. Sikhism (64%) 13. Taoism (59%) 14. Baha'i Faith (53%) 15. Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist) (53%) 16. Nontheist (53%) 17. Hinduism (48%) 18. Orthodox Quaker (45%) 19. Jainism (43%) 20. Orthodox Judaism (36%) 21. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (34%) 22. Islam (29%) 23. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (28%) 24. Seventh Day Adventist (25%) 25. Eastern Orthodox (23%) 26. Roman Catholic (23%) 27. Jehovah's Witness (4%) Interestingly, I do feel comfortable in a unitarian or liberal quaker setting, in addition to the settings corresponding to my "evil" occult leanings. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/hmm.gif) Great test. Not sure it's as specific as it could be. And it didn't account for overlap between religious categories, i.e., in multiple cases I was made to "choose" between two realities when I might use both. For instance: whether God is a personal or impersonal force; I find the definition useful in more than one way! This is more to say that the top couple couple results are probably more interchangeable than not. This post has been edited by monkman418: Jul 8 2009, 08:36 AM

QUOTE(Acid09 @ Jul 20 2009, 08:06 PM) Actually when you take personal inventory tests like the myer's-brigs type indicator they make you choose between to options intentionally. This makes you commit to one option or the other and allows asessors to look for consistency in your answers. So because this test follows along the same lines that is an indication that this test was put together by someone who knows at least a little bit about what they are doing.
Sorry, but this is incorrect reasoning. 1. The myers-briggs test is not considered to be a reliable or valid test. 2. The use of mutually exclusive answer choices is not enough to conclude that a test is good or made by someone who knows what they are doing. Nor are mutually exclusive answer choices an essential prerequisite for a good test. 3. Assessors do not "look for trends" while scoring a myers-briggs test, they add up how many introvert verses extrovert points you get and the majority wins; a person who is 52 percent introverted and a person who is 97 percent introverted will be put in the same "introverted" category, while a person who is 49 percent introverted will be labeled an "extrovert." In short, the mutually exclusive categories themselves are set up to be "scored." 4. My point was that the given test "forces" mutually exclusive categories, which may be convenient for establishing a hierarchy of scores, but also thereby detract from the ideal. As I see it, the ideal demonstrates the relative predisposition of multiple trends, not simply which trends are the greatest or "win." This post has been edited by monkman418: Jul 20 2009, 09:00 PM
