Help On Raziel, Need some specifics Options

Well, there is only so much one may accomplish studying books and whatnot, before one must finally get stuff together to pull something off, especially when it comes to magick.

I am saving up to buy genuine materials and tools so that I may proceed for my first true evocation. The subject of my evocation? The Archangel Raziel. I have some questions for him, ones which I wish to keep private for my own purposes, and wish to only share with him. (No offense to you guys, but think of this as the metaphysical equivalent of HIPAA!)

But, I am surfing the net for info, and require some information further for a successful evocation. For instance:

• What shall his symbol be inscribed on? Silver? Gold? Bronze? Brass? Tin? Zinc? I need to know!
• Are there any scents or incenses which are associated with him?
• Colors of candles to use, if they apply?
• Time of day he is most likely to respond?
• Astrological timings I need to know about?
• Any special attire which may appeal to him more, to prompt more ease of interchange of discourse, or something that prompts him to be more inclined to help me? Perhaps a sash of particular color, or other vestment which may decrease incidence of summoning something else?
• Anything else I may need to know about him?

I am open to information that will help. I am very serious about this work, and am taking everything I can into consideration to make sure this work goes properly. Any suggestions to help to make this work proceed more effectively would be welcomed!

Love the HIPPA reference! HAH!

You really need a copy of Crowley's "777," or a copy of Stephen Skinner's "The Complete Magician's Tables," or some other equivalent; that way, you can look these things up for yourself. And you really need to look them up yourself, too, because there are SEVENTY-some correspondences to Raziel in 777 alone, (I just counted)-- that's a lot of symbolic leeway to leave to the determination of some schmuck like me on the Internet. Plus, you'll have far greater control crafting your evocation by knowing what symbolism is available.

I'm really tempted to give you a set of answers to "get you started," but I wouldn't be respecting your seriousness or desire to make this go perfectly if I did so. Plus, this is your evocation, not mine, and so it needs to be your symbolism,

Fortunately, 777 is $13.57 on Amazon and Skinner's tables are $32.97; and you'll use such a reference book over and over again.

You may also finds books like "the Greater key of Solomon" useful for astrological attributions, also Regardie's book on making Talisman, and these just might be available on the Internet.

Ack! I printed out the key some years ago in my college library. Got more than a few strange looks for the sheets and sheets of odd pentacles coming through... But I will use my right to 1000 free pages of printout, damnit!

Raziel indeed corresponds to the life force, or Chiah.

But Raziel himself is actually listed in column XCIX line 2-- just to the left of "The Life Force."

Sorry I gave ya the wrong line to begin with...funny how that correspondence works out for you though!

Alright, I see it, but tell me how he corresponds to the life force? On what premise was this correspondence made? I am not asking out of skepticism, but sheer pursuit of knowledge. The relationship is a bit confusing:

First, note that the standard of comparison in 777 is the Hebrew Qabalah.

Thus, when 777 gives rows 0-10, these correspond to the Sephiroth (and Negative Veils of Existence) of the Qabalah.

0 - Ain, Ain Soph, Ain Soph Aur (the negative veils of existence)
1- Keter
2- Hochmah
3- Bina(h)
4- ©Hesed
5- Gebura(h)
6- Tiparet
7- Netzat
8- Hod
9- Yesod
10- Malkut

(Rows 11-31 correspond to the Hebrew Alphabet or Major Arcana of the tarot, which are the paths between the Sephiroth. For now, that doesn't matter.)

Since Raziel is listed on row 2, he is shown to correspond to Hochmah, or the second Sephirah, which is the All Father. Raziel is thus the Archangel of Hochmah.

One way of talking about Qabalah is to say that the Sephiroth correspond to four parts of the soul.

The life force, Crowley's english translation of "chiah," is one of the parts of the soul, which is in the domain of Hochmah, the 2nd Sephirah. The life force is the animating principle of God or Nature which gives existence to you and to all things.

As Raziel is the archangel in Hochmah, and Hochmah animates the life force of the soul, Raziel is in a commanding position regards that facet of reality.

The other parts of the soul: Neshamah, the intuition; Rauch, the intellect; and Nepesh, the animal soul. See how the Hebrew word is listed on column XCVII and the translation is listed on column XCVIII. Notice how numbers 2 and 3, Hochmah and Binah, correspond to Chiah and Neshamah, while Sephiroth 4-9 correspond to Rauch, and Nepesh is number 10.

You must have some good grounding in Qabalah. I used to get extremely confused and frustrated when people would launch into Qabalistic explanations, and so I was worried that this would be off-putting if you hadn't gotten around to studying QBL yet. Glad it was helpful to you.
