Ave I thought we were voting on who we thought was the most popular. I think Orobas has to be the most popular since most of the time, for a magician's first Goetic evocation, they pick Orobas, I don't know why, I was very tempted to evoke him too (IMG: style_emoticons/default/13.gif) He seems very "accessable". Not a bad thing in the demon world I supose (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Ad Scientiam

I don't understand why anyone considers these 72 spirits to be demons at all - saying this I have alerted the spoken verses, symbology, and preparation a lot over time The names are extrapolated from the geometry in Exodus - the names may be inversions of those Moses knew of in one form or another...
I've worked with Decarbia, Andrealphus, Phenex, Caim, and a few others, in the past - Decarbia appeared before me as a dodecahedron encrusted with honeycomb-like jewels while 'dribbling' technicolour sludge within a large red (very similar to the type of red you see when you close your eyes after looking into a bright light) pentagram. The numeral value of the restored hebrew for Decarbia is also very interesting, as it is reflective of the entire structure of the goetia - I see Decarbia as the circuitry which all the other spirits arise from. Decarbia gets my vote.
I know this goes against the hierarchy imposed on the system of goetia with it's multitude of kings, princes, dukes, and so forth - but if you ask me all that is rubbish! From my experience there are no kings, princes, etc - whoever wrote of this system was trying to classify the spirits for their own convenience or because of how they appeared to them, some spirits may seem kingly or they have a vast entourage, or they may even say "I'm the king of the jungle, hear me roar!" but it's all just a show, playing on our own hierarchical perception of the universe imo.
I feel that most folk will go for either Bael or Paimon - similar to how when you go into a fireworks shop you always go for the biggest, meanest firework you can find first - which is fun, but sparklers are fun too!

QUOTE(Zugzwang @ Feb 6 2007, 02:02 PM) I don't understand why anyone considers these 72 spirits to be demons at all - saying this I have alerted the spoken verses, symbology, and preparation a lot over time The names are extrapolated from the geometry in Exodus - the names may be inversions of those Moses knew of in one form or another... Ave While the Goetia does claim it's spirits to be the spirits of the Shemhamforesh, they are not. The angels of the Shemhamforesh all have five letter names, each one being three letters from three chapters in exodus and then adding Aleph and Lamed at the end, meaning essentially "of God" *which is the ending of most of the Hebrew angel's names*. Regardless, they do represent the adverse energies of the zodialogical regions, every 6 degrees. It is this that they are called Dukes, Princes, etc. because of their planetary energies in that sub-region of the zodiac. Their names were mostly of legends and bastardizations of ancient gods (and since it is a bastardization, it is NOT that God/Goddess, if anything a perverse charicature) but they are the names of demons none the less. If you want to work with Baal, work with Baal, not Bael it's demon charicature. If you want to work with Astarte, work with Astarte, not Astaroth, the same situation. Now, that I am am severely off topic, I will digress. Ad Scientiam This post has been edited by Lucian: Feb 7 2007, 08:58 PM

I would like to share something with you guys ..... Today i have voted for "Naberius" - After reading "spirit guide , Spirit communication" i have never evoked any spirit and i am new to this fourm ... so spirit guide and spirit communication was what attarcted me the most out from the list . My experience have always been diffrent "Clairvoyant" or an "Astral eye/sight" and some rarely visions .... I was going to sleep a while ago, and i saw this Shadow or a dark form moving around in my room .... i often see and feel this, this is how i see spirit ... when you people talk about evoking i wonder if you see a true form , or if you feel and hear them .... So i closed my eyes and tried to hear, sometimes i hear voices .. they are eaither too crowded and fast for me to understand or too short..... So i asked for a name so i can learn about the entity i am intresed in conjuring spirit lately and i am doing my part of research and reading ..... But i did not hear anything but sounds, a wind like sound and a little pressure on my ears and i know it sounds silly maybe its something i imagined or felt. But even though i did not get any name i started remembering my earlier post and the vote i did... and i was drown here to ask about "Naberius" IS it possible to be visited by a spirit after thinking or reading about them ? or wanting to work with them ? And have any of you worked or liked to discuss "Naberius" with me. I am very sorry for my earlier post, i would like everyone to ignore it and help me with a question i have. After that incident and my post the shadow dwelled in my room till I finally fell asleep or i was half asleep and i saw a large yellow cat (Cougar? , leopard? ) i'm not sure ... but i remember i was looking at it and it was laying down but the minute i stared into it's eyes ... the eyes turned redish/pink and it Roared and i woke up with the sound still being heard, can any one connect these 2 posts? give me some info, or tell me what they think ? I would really appreciate it. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/offtopic.gif) This thread is for which spirit you like best and why. Personal experience etc. is fine here but open discussion or asking questions. I would suggest that you post in a thread such as unidentified spirits etc. Please stay on topic and read the Forums guidelines. As you requested I have connected your two posts. Marbas, for reasons I have explained previously and elsewhere. Other than those, we mesh well. His personality is a lot like the smartass engineering students that I used to hang out with in my college days--and seeing as a lot of what would be labeled as engineering falls in his domain it's really not that surprising.
Not only is he great for health issues, he's great for IT (information technology) issues as well. Placing a properly charged PAPER (no metal ones for obvious reasons) sigil in the server room can work wonders, as well as say, working a copy of his sigil into your desktop wallpaper.

So far I'm loving Seere, he's very nice! Flauros is incredible for protection though, Astaroth is great for Love, Sitri for lust, Beleth seems to be nice so far, and Andras is pretty damn cool too (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Edit: I forgot Buer! He's great for quick healing! Damn, there's so many to choose from, hard to pick just one (IMG: style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) This post has been edited by altpath: Dec 18 2007, 06:26 PM
