time to wipe off the screen again

'the baptist head' lolololol

hmmmm, i wonder if i should open the link or not? - should i do a tarot divination, throw the bones, or just meditate and see what spirit has to say?

but how would any of those know what was in some stupid link? - or would it be a hint to my future reaction to whatever is presented in that link...

if i did a divination on opening it, and it was a virus, could the divination pick up the virus, or my future screaming because it was a virus?

so the way i present my question, like 'should i open this link or not' has a lot to do with the answer, right?

a better question would be 'what is my generalized future state of mind if i open this link'?

interesting...

probably far more interesting than the article, assuming i read it - we are all extraterrestrials if you believe the bible, created and placed on this planet as its caretakers, another colossal fail

hmmmm, let me guess (i didn't open the link):

oh no!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fie.gif) that ewww bad evil crowley, he was the BEAST (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yikes.gif), he was soooo bad he even used the upside down five point star of the DEMON BAPHOMET as his logo, and he was such a drug-abusing, ego driven schizophrenic that liked to beat people with cat's tails (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whip.gif) , he even tried to break time and let in the dreaded eviiiil non-christian aliens that want to do the anal probe (IMG:style_emoticons/default/visit_kr.gif) lolololololololololololol

was i right? - oh and i forgot 'cross-dressing' lol - oh that fetching animal print dress matches his eyes!

QUOTE(esoterica @ Jun 11 2010, 10:24 AM) *

was i right?

No. No you were not right. TBH I was thinking the same thing when I opened it, but that's not it at all. It's actually a valid historical article whose only sign of bias is an emphasis on Crowley's heroin use.

Anyway, I can't say I'm a Crowley expert, but for me the idea of contacting extraterrestrials (though, esoterica, I would point out we are - extraterrestrial is latin for not of the earth, and considering we hold ourselves so above the earth and find it appropriate to rape it constantly, i'd say we're pretty extraterrestrial) with whatever form of magick they're using is both unlikely and dangerous.

I say unlikely because it's unlikely that extraterrestrials would be attempting to contact us in a way that merged with how we were trying to contact them. Just saying, if I'm astral traveling across galaxies (UNLIKELY) then it's unlikely that an extraterrestrial who happened to be astral traveling at that same moment (UNLIKELY) would take the exact same route across space. That said, our minds would likely be so totally different that we would be unable to communicate. It's like trying to put a DVD in a Blu-Ray player... a DVD is the same size and shape as a Blu-Ray disc, serves the same purpose, but is encoded differently so that it can't be read. It's very likely that we would encounter a similar situation; I, for one, think in words. Therefore, my thoughts would be incomprehensible to another being if it didn't speak the same language, humans included. Between humans we could communicate emotions, but emotions may be so totally different between us and another species that we just can't read each other; I'm an empath, but when I'm sick I don't feel the disease dying when I'm getting better. I can't sync with a bacterium from our planet, why a complex being from across the galaxy?

Also, what if you used a spell to open a rift to their world and it developed into a singularity (worm hole, black hole, etc.) that sucked up and destroyed both worlds? It's dangerous. Additionally, whatever energy you use to open the rift may react badly to whatever type of energy pervades their world, so you could get something like a metaphysical chemical reaction.

To use an appropriate quote from Lord of the Rings... "Certainty of death! Small chance of success! What're we waitin' for?"

Regarding your example of a Blu-Ray player: most standard DVDs work just fine on Blu-Ray players. All current players are encoded to read standard DVDs. The only ones that can't are a couple of first-gen models that were discontinued a while ago.

They can read standard CDs, too, provided it's not a data CD.

Anyways...

I don't think Crowley opened a gate to talk to ET's. If there are extraterrestrials out there, chances are they inhabit the exact same three dimensional universe we do. They have better tech toys, though. Did he contact extra-dimensional entities? Maybe--he contacted spirits, and I don't presume to know where spirits are from or how they exist.

I didn't think so either. But I thought it would be funny to see what you people would say.

You guys would exclude females, which would technically be inaccurate, unless English is like the Romance languages, which it isn't--anymore.

I don't really care about the gender politics of your term choice.
It's just that I've come to associate the use of the words "you people" with lumping people together under a stereotype. Which, while not necessarily harmful, reflects the same basic logic as behind things like racism or sexism, so i try to avoid it.
anyway, don't mind my word associations. If you meant 'you guys' (but including girls) then I'm just off rambling on my own little tangent and being totally irrelevant.

It isn't about "gender politics". It's more about how language as a medium of communication is commonly used these days.

>>rambling on my own little tangent and being totally irrelevant

our rambling used to be called "freedom"

nowadays "freedom" is derailing and out of order, supplanted by societal ego (IMG:style_emoticons/default/kicking.gif) - lolololol

well, i suppose that if crowley did let in the et's, i'd love them too - that is the command, you know

oh sorry i am an inane rambler (mmm, dark blue, with a http://www.youtube.com/v/Ri2rQR49EtQ)

... question is whether you could regard extraterrestrials as being entities, as in the entities we're used to dealing with, "spirits". If one can invoke saturn and make room for communication with whatsowhowhatever entities from there then what do the guys next door need fancy UFO's for? Are they UFOs or the astral imaginings, astral veichles, of some Om chanting ET in an asana some billion light years away?

Anyway... the answer, if seen that way, could well be yes... perhaps Crowley did like to leave conjourings open and not banish thus leaving stargates, sorry ritual spaces around and about here and there enough for aliens... sorry, foriegn life forms... I mean, ummm, entities to come through rent free.

(Haven't read the link btw, just musing)

Err, did anyone read the article? It WAS pretty good and legit.

Only comment...to quote from the article itself:

"Why ignore that large body of work left to us by Crowley, which he considered of genuine spiritual import, to focus instead on an inconsequential drawing with a view to promoting an extraterrestrial fantasy?"

Ungrounded fantasy is the pornography and primary substance of the fat, stupid, ignorant beast that is the New Age movement. Wave my magical wand and open my sahasara chakra with the click of my heels, it all makes sense! Just like make-believe!

Crowley is legit. But letting aliens into our dimension? Did anyone say overactive, imaginative speculation? Possibly throwing in complete imaginative speculation and superstition?

Enough said.

Ever hear of the gender police? (certainly not on this post). I sometimes imagine the (insert dominant religion) police saying something like this...

Well, maybe. Straight from the horse's mouth, Crowley says: "The spirit is merely a recalcitrant part of one's own organism. To evoke him is therefore to become conscious of some part of one's own character; to command and constrain him is to bring that part into subjection." (ABA, pg 236).

So...maybe...that depends on whether you believe/think/imagine that spirits exist outside of one's organism or not...

I think it's confusing the planes to say they do.

Perhaps that something within me is arrogant but I don't see how it couldn't be, when astral travelling you aren't going anywhere except deeper into yourself again the whole internal/external idea has people reaching for something they should be digging for I don't see a stand alone theory that has yet to replace the emerald tablets Kemetic maxim, ''As above so below/within without''. I mean... how do people suppose to become one with a thing if any one part of it is external? It dosen't make sence.

Interesting article could it be assumed that he drew this while on heroin? I know from my own experiences that drugs such as this can make things diffrent. Do i think he opened up a door to contact ET's possibly i mean why would he not Crowley was a very brilliant man there is no telling what all he has experienced only he will no that. I believe that he most likely contacted aliens. Or if not aliens then something on the astral plane that was of abnormality...
