Greetings!

Recently I've read many articles on internet about self-attunement, not only to reiki healing system, but also several healing system...
But I wondered if that could really be done, because there are many people say that's impossible... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sweatdrop.gif)

So, how about your opinion? Please share with me...

Thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bigwink.gif)

No attunement is necessary for Reiki, or any other healing or occult practice. You are part of the universe and have the potential to access all aspects of it, as well as your own divine potential - and they are in reality synonymous.

That said, the attunement rituals are beneficial - every other person is a reflection of yourself, and visa versa; therefore do not think of it as another person attuning you to Reiki, think of it as another part of yourself which has already accessed Reiki expanding that access to include this part of yourself as well.

If you do not take attunements/initiation of Reiki, or any other kind, then understand that it takes your own dedication, faith, openness and surrender to achieve. If you do, be certain that your initiator can actually perform the initiation - specifically, if there is any doubt in your mind as to the authority that person has, then don't take your initiation from them.

Many paths.

Peace
V

The reiki attunement techniques are not unique to reiki, although they try to make people believe that they are. I've seen the same techniques in Qigong and Yoga, just under other names. At the time that I got my reiki 3rd, the attunement methods were kept secret, but when I was shown what was done, I immediately recognized it for what it was. To be honest, I was very disappointed. I thought I would learn something new rather than something that I'd known for years, just dressed in new clothes.
V is right. Anyone can attune themselves or others. But I'd say that it is more breath control and focus in doing the normal firedragon breath and hui yin position method.

As a Reiki Master, I'd completely agree that it's possible.

If I were you, and interested, I'd look into the style of Martial Arts the Usui was purported to practice. It bears a striking resemblance to some pretty well known Chi Kung / Taoist exercises. If you find the symbols online, and do a little work, there's no reason it shouldn't be possible. Attunements ARE a little more than just channel clearing and energy boosts - but dedication goes a long way in any system.

Usui was a master of what is now called Kiko, but had another name at the time. Its about the same as how Qigong used to be called Neigong. Actually the techniques were slightly different 100 years ago, but fairly close. And while I don't speak Japanese, but I think that Kiko has the same meaning in writing as Qigong. Usui was highly respected and recognized as a master even before he developed the reiki system. He was close friends with the founder of juijitsu and several other well known martial artists. He probably did practice an actual martial art alongside of his Kiko practice, but his main focus was on the energy work/Kiko. Kiko and Qigong are not martial arts in themselves, but are typically part of martial arts training. You might describe Kiko as a Japanese kind of yoga.
