Normally I only remember my dreams every few months or so. These dreams are about murder and serial killers. In these dreams I am never the killer or the victim. In fact I don't recognize anyone in these dreams. Sometimes the dream takes place in a news casting, reporting of the killer and the victims it has taken. Other times my dreams just show the killer committing the murder. I have been having dreams like this for a few years.
In dreams, the things we see can represent parts of our own mind interacting with other parts. These can all represent different emotions, desires, memories, core values and personal beliefs. When you dream of someone killing someone else in your dreams, really you are dreaming of a part of yourself, killing another part of yourself. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. But what it indicates is an inner conflict, particularly if this is a reoccuring theme for you.
I don't know about you personally, but when I have dreams of such slaugther, they tend to be very meloncholy, hellish and dark. Themes associated with depression or an inner conflict that makes people feel down. It might be that part of you simply disagrees with how you dress (or something that is not at all serious). But it might be more than that. Its possible your subconscious is trying to make you aware of an inner conflict that is potentially disturbing you. You might not even be aware of it, maybe you are.
Such inner conflicts can represent problems with how you relate to yourself or others, it can relate to bad habits, or patterns of behavior that you wish to correct, a conflict of your inner morals (which fits nicely with dreams on serial killings). And again, the depth of the conflict could be something superficial and not necessarily serious. Yet it might be more than just skin deep.
Really if you want to get to the bottom of the matter, you need to start writting your dreams down. I know you might not remember them very well but even a few lines is something. And if you record your dreams as soon as you wake, you may find that you remember more than you think. The point is that over time it'll be easier to recognize patterns that relate either literally or metaphorically to you, your past and your day to day life. Ultimately the only thing any dream interpreter can do is give you their impression. Only you know yourself, your history, your desires and so forth. I can sit hear and tell you what each symbol means based on my experience and eduaction, and some of it might hit. But most probably won't - because I cannot relate to you the same way you can to your self.
Still though I offer my dream interpretations for free. I don't garuntee I'll answer all of them or that my answers will ever be correct. But if you have something interesting and want some insight, I or someone else will probably ablidge.
One thing I keep telling people is that when ever they identify a symbol within their dreams, particularly people they see in them, I tell them to ask themselves "how are they like that person (or people)?" So maybe ask yourself questions like "how am I like a killer?" "how am I like a victim?" and maybe "how am I like a passive news reporter who sees the murder?" And do not ask yourself such questions in a literal sense. I'm sure you are not literally a "killer". But the concept of a killer may be taken metaphorically. A killer attacks, ends life, inflicts harm on others, is emotionally upset, or maybe the killer is acting out of justice taking the life of someone who diserves it. And similar ideas can be thought for other symbols in your dreams.
As far as identifying past lifes through dreams all I have to say is that unless it leads to some kind of paper trail or evidence that validates it, I would not take any such dreams with a grain of salt. The change in the theme of your dream may simply relate to a change in your mood or attitude. It might also relate to getting a new job, meeting new friends (or lovers), graduating and any other number of major life changes.

Last month I had a dream that was completely different in theme, so it took me by surprise. In this dream I am sitting with my sisters friend who interprets dreams for people. She tells me I am the reincarnation of a mans, Julianos, kite. When she tells me I get a sudden image of a man chasing a kite that's being blown away. I don't honestly think I was a kite in a past life. I just have no idea what the symbolism could mean.
Chasing a kite may indicate that you are going after something that is out of reach or that is futile to try to get. It could mean that you are wasting your time doing something unproductive. Or that you seek to find new ways to make yourself happy.
