An interrelated set of events about my personal haunting follows.

When I was younger, maybe ten or twelve, I used to sleep on a couch in the front room of my house. I woke one night, and there was a white square on the carpet, all the way across the room. Intrigued, I watched it for nearly two hours, during which it slowly made its way about halfway across the room towards me. I won't lie- the moment I noticed this, my heart began to throb like crazy, and I was so terribly mortified that I couldn't bring myself to move.

Terrified out of my mind, I tried to think of every rational reason that this could be happening- and the only thing I could think of was the moon. Except, had it been the moon, the light would have been coming in from the window behind me, and moving in the opposite direction.

For some reason, I was convinced that if I moved, the light would attack me. Similarly, if I screamed. It wasn't until the light was halfway across the room that I decided I must make a grab for the tv remote -for some reason I thought light would stop it. It was that, or it would be atop me soon. So, in perhaps the fastest move I've ever made, I snatched the remote and slammed the power button.

The half a second it took for the tv to turn on was petrifying.

And then the light came on, and the white square literally evaporated off our dark carpet. I sat there for easily ten minutes, simply trying to adjust my breathing. Finally, I decided to be brave and test the theory that this was light moving across the carpet, and that I'd scared myself for no reason. I turned the tv off. After all, if it were light moving through a window, the spot would come right back.

It did not reappear.

I could not sleep the rest of the night, and when I told my parents the next morning, they tried to assure me that it was simply a bad dream, or that I was imagining things. They refused to believe me.

However, this was not the first nor the last occurence. I would frequently feel a presence in the corner of the room, which was from then on dubbed (comically, by my parents) the ghost corner. Games that had been perfectly stacked would sometimes fall off the shelf on the wall on the other side of the corner. Dishes would clink in the sink for no reason. Curtains would move without any air or heating vents blowing them. My mom still refused to believe.

Then one night, about four or five years ago (I am now almost 21), I had a terrifying dream, which took place in my own house, wherein something tried to kill me. I ran from it, out of my house and into some strange alter-world dreamland, where it pursued me. It then chased me over a fence, into a yard, where it was thrown out of the dream by a younger boy. I started choking (because the thing which had tried to kill had done something to me, although I didn't know what). The boy came over, and removed a coin from my mouth, before I woke up. Every injury the monster had inflicted on me in my dream covered my arms, and I could barely breathe.

I realize very clearly that the boy was the ghost. From that moment on, I could not bear to bring myself to fear him. That full day after the dream, however, I had literally no energy, and my good friend, who has many books on the occult, believes it was a psychic vampire, or some derivation. It very well could have been.

The main thing, however, is that after this, within the next year, someone else finally saw something which proved the boy ghost's existence. I had recently gotten some birthday balloons, and for absolutely no reason at all, they began bouncing. They had been placed in the ghost corner. Frustrated by my insistence that it was the boy, my mom checked for breezes/currents, but there were none. She held the balloons down until they had stopped bouncing (they were moving quite a lot, not just barely swaying) but after she had gone back across the room, they began bouncing again. This freaked her out so much that she put the balloons in the closet, and would not answer me when asked if she believed me now.

So basically, I am wondering, is there anything in here that anyone can comment on? The haunting itself (which I've actually managed to work on) or the strange dream? Mostly the dream. It confuses and terrifies me. I believe I drug home something terrifying the night before, as my dad took me through three cities that day (I almost never travel) and we passed at least three graveyards that I do not normally go around, if not more, on both the going and return trips. And the symbolism of the coin is utterly lost on me. Completely and utterly. And if you need more details on the dream, or the haunting, or anything, I remember them all. Vividly.

Intresting, have had a similar experience... a patch of light making its way gradually up my bed until it lit my headboard. It was the moon in full on this occasion but it was followed by a visit... unsure who or what it was, wasn't menacing.

Can't say I can help you with your problem... have you tried a banishing?
