When i was younger i was quite empathic and clairsentient. I say quite as how does one classify what is strong or weak universally with regards to psychic ability? I was however very susceptible to being drained by those around me, particularly my best friend at the time. I think it was partly because of this, and maybe because of age and increasing cynicism that i tried to forget my skills (if you can call it that). Nowadays, although i'm still emotional and empathic, i don't get so heavily drained by those around me and i'm far more stable (thanks in great part to a grounding meditation i was taught by a reiki healer).

So with that background i wondered what your views would be on my recent dreams. In one i wasn't myself (but i rarely am in my dreams) and i followed a child up the stairs telling it not to go up there because i knew there was something not quite right about it. The child however, disobeyed. I followed and saw the child in front of something...however before i could fully realise what it was i had shoved the child out of the way and told it to go downstairs. I'm not sure how to explain this but it's like everything in the room had an aura of purple tinged with red on the edges. I felt paralysed and completely terrified. I couldn't move and became aware i was dreaming and tried to wake myself up but couldn't. The spirit, i can only describe it as, wooshed towards me and said I SEE YOU, before i finally managed to wake myself up. The worst part was that afterwards i felt like there was something in the room with me.

This reoccured the next day or so, however when i saw the purpley-red aura and felt the onset of complete terror i managed to kick my leg in order to wake myself up.

The other dream i had the other day which i can't remember quite as vividly. I basically felt like i was hovering above the world, yet could see everything in one go and FELT everything in one go. This then diminished to only the pain. I felt completely hollow and in agony as though i was feeling all the pain in one go. I woke up crying and completely exhausted.

Now, normally i would tend to think that most dreams have at least some elements of the day you've just lived, and that your brain is trying to make sense of it all. However never before have i had these dreams and needless to say they're becoming very unnerving. I just wondered if anyone else has experienced these kind of dreams before or can reccommend anything?(IMG:style_emoticons/default/hmm.gif)

Clairsentient IS a real word! Its synomous with psychometry. Psychic abilities may or may not be a factor in the dreaming process. While I think so there is just not enough data to really say for certain. IMO I think people who are natural psychics are prone to more vivid dreams, more lucid dreams, and more dreams that are premonitions. Thats about it.

Your friend was probably a psychic vampire or energy leech.

Children represent innocences and curiosity. They can also represent ourselves in a past tense kind of way. By traveling up the stairs, you were transitioning from one memory to another, you as a child were exploring some event, memory or respressed desire. I think this because you said the child was not suppose to go up the stairs or into the room. In a way you do not want to relive whatever it is inside that room. Purple and red are important colors but I don't think the conventional interpretation would fit you.

Feeling terrified, paralyzed and unable to wake indicates a loss of control. What this dream represents it is about something where you felt or were powerless and had no control over what was going.

Purple is generally associated with good things like compassion, health, soothing and peace. In history purple has been used to indicate royalty or being a roman emperor. Red can represent a whole slew of things ranging from agression, passion, lust to power. In your case I think it represents guilt or shame or pain of some kind.

Spirits are also interesting. In your case I think it is a manifestation of the thing that made you feel so horrible. Ghosts in general tend to represent fears of dying, things from the past, things that are superficial. They can also be considered guides. Some thing spirits in our dreams can see through us. We cannot hide from them. I would start a journal and try to see if this spirit or some other entity does not manifest again. It may be trying to give you an answer to some issue you are dealing with. It saying "I SEE YOU" is it trying to show you something that you have not yet recognized. Realize that while it is possible this entity could be a real entity separate from yourself, it is just as likely a product of your own mind.

Waking up thinking there is an entity is a deffence mechanism to deter you from realizing what the spirit was actually trying to point out. It means that what ever it represents is probably deeply repressed and probably not pleasant. But it could be anything from abuse, or the death of a family member, to being bullied or having a near death experience and just about every other bad expereince imaginable.

The world and the sensations you felt were overwhelming. You couldn't take it so you had to leave the world in order to attempt to get away. This you avoiding what the world means and its not working. In your case I would think the world represents emotional baggage as a whole in your life.

Being psychic may mean that you are channeling through to some entity. That is possible, however, it is also very important that you save that possibility for last. I would start a dream journal (if you haven't already) and really try to pin down as many details as possible about your dreams.

One thing I can tell you for certain is that in your dreams you are the master of your domain. Nothing within your dreams can hurt other than to try and scare you and well up negative emotions. If you have a dream where you know you are dreaming and in the presance of an entity take a second to calm down and try to confront it. Ask it what it to show you what it means. I know it'll be harder than it sounds but with time you'll learn to not fear your dreams. That doesn't mean you won't still feel pain, especially if you have endured your share of tough times.
