Well, its the time of year when many of us will be reflecting on the past year and celebrating the solistice or Christmas or some other thing and I thought it might be good as occultists to reflect on our most exciting magickal breakthroughs that have happened since we started on our paths (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Mine is obvious if you know me well, it is when I first saw my dragon open out his wings.

My photography friend and I were going from West London out to the East to Hyland Gardens for the day and as usual when we are driving along, we don't talk much as I am usually holding the map and we are concentrating on finding our way.

This left me with time to talk to my dragon, I expected him to be sat in the back seat since I was still at the stage of treating him either as a child or a pet since I have spent most of my life looking after children and animals, but I had an image of him in my head sat on my right shoulder peering out very fixedly at the road ahead and I sensed an air of excitement although I was puzzled because his body form had taken on a bird-like appearance and he kept hopping from one foot to another like a bird too.

We got onto the motorway and suddenly he opened out his wings in great excitement as we went faster and faster; it was one of my best magickal moments with my dragon as I had never ever seen them before.

Wow... that sounds awesome. Is your dragon an eggregore, or some kind of astral creature? How did you first come in contact with them? I'd love to be able to do that. Oh, sorry, straying from the topic.

Well, I think my most exciting magickal breakthrough was when I discovered magick. Ever since I was little, I always wished things like magick were real. I remember reading Harry Potter and wishing I could do all the things they did, and I used to spend the majority for my time pretending to. The day I found out that magic was real was probably the best day of my life. I spent the next week or so doing nothing but reading about magick.

I have never read Harry Potter, not even a single page, but I know it has inspired a few to take up magick.

Another of my breakthroughs was when I first found out for myself that unintended consequences were very real and often of the kind we would rather not have.

This particular one was when I was playing music one day, I got very focussed and played over something that had happened in my mind; to cut a long story short, I basically used the mental tools of magick without considering they might have an affect; in fact, it didn't even cross my mind but on the few occasions over the last few years that I have played that piece of music, the same unwanted result has always occurred, it was only on the fourth time that I was able to accept it since it was in effect an 'accident'.

Needless to say that I have now played the music again and changed my thoughts around it and also the situation around the event has changed, so the result is unlikely to happen again and many will be relieved.

To answer the dragon question on how I got to know him: http://www.sacred-magick.org/index.php?showtopic=235

i remember that time.
Most magical, when all possibilities are open, and the mind is ready to expect anything. When you actually believe in the possibility of doing great magickal things.

Then later the expectations are less, and realisms sets in. However at times..

Going to Shamballah for the first time ! A group of us sat in meditative trance using Dr.Stone's meditation;
http://au.msnusers.com/AuntClairsParlorSpi...urwebpage2.msnw
and we projected there and found ourselves spun out of our bodies into a group merkabah which we were able to clairvoyantly see. We were assembled in a semi circle and able to see each other in the Golden Chamber of Melchiezedek in the spirit realm of Shamballah. We bi located consciousness to give off what we saw and heard during the projection . The floor appeared like fairy floss or cotton candy . The Mahatma assembled in majesty . We saw the four principal archangels (IMG:style_emoticons/default/angel.gif) . The Chohans of the Ray assembled behind the altar (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mf_popeanim.gif) in an arc. Christ and Buddha appeared . (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blablabla.gif) It was so incredibel . I have gone several times and taken other mystics with me .It is a marvellous experience . (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bounce.gif) Greetings Radiant Star (and a rather belated Happy New Year (IMG:style_emoticons/default/black eye.gif) )

This is easy ....

Seeing my first non-terrestrial (alien) entities manifest in the room before me ....

A fantastic experience which occurred around a decade ago. Prior to this experience, I had been somewhat sceptical of other's claims of seeing 'aliens' (sceptical as I am always past, present and in the future) ..

I have documented this in various places in SM, but I cannot recall where! Thus a recap. I was fully conscious, but not long out of alpha state when five or six entities of around 3 - 4 feet in height being to appear in front of me. The manner of their appearance was very much like someone (or something) spray painting the very air itself .... one moment they were no presences and the next ... I had a group of translucent entities looking at me. They were dressed in Egyptian-like headress and bodice ... at the centre of their torso was a spinning like appendage .... a circular like device with a central structure spinning like a dynamo or fan wheel (to this day I have not been able to decide what the appendage was and NO it was not like a chakra before anyone suggests).

I gazed across at them for a moment or two; then turned on my side and went to sleep! They were obviously gone when I woke. I have not seen them since, but it did open the door for other entities to manifest before me in less dramatic fashion. Usually on the periphery of my vision before walking fully into my line of sight before disappearing onto a higher vibration.

Another 'exciting' breakthrough was to see my documented 'man with lizard eyes' in Auckland last year. It still is an active recollection in my mind whenever I wander to the top of Queen St. I recall I was crossing over to the harbour side when I short cropped blond haired male caught my attention amid the hustle and bustle of the pedestrians also crossing. I caught his stare ... and in that moment time slowed almost to a stand still and I witnessed his eyes change ... his normal human eyes replaced by reptile blue eyes complete with a vertical slit ... he then panicked as he knew I knew .. and made his way quickly out of sight! Stunning.

There are countless other magical breakthroughs which have been exciting ... but these two quickly spring to mind!

I recall a 'significant' firing of the kundalini when it was in my late 20's. It was at a close female friend of mine, Charlie's flat in Fleetwood UK. She was a Shamanic Healer, singer. I'd spent the evening listing to here soulful voice ... the raptures of which had lifted me into such an elated state that later back home, and with the accompaniment of Free's 'Be My Friend' and 'Soon I Will Be Gone' I deliberately lifted the Kundalini snake from its abode at the base of my spine ... right up to the crown. The firing was intense, emotional and very orgasmic ... I remember the vision at the time ... my room was enmeshed in a grid like structure ... everything was starry and bright .... intense emotions ... something else!!!

I believe mine was when i made my first potion and it actually worked the way i wanted it to. lol

I wanted to make a calming potion and a spell to go along with it because my grandmother was in the hospital and I needed to calm myself down so i could deal with things wisely. Well the potion turned out to be harder to make than i thought but when it was finally done and I took it.... IT WORKED I was like OMG It actually worked. I had figured that I had messed it all up and had convenced myself that I had no idea what I was doing and all the houres of work I had done was just a waste of time... till it worked. It made it all worth it. It gave me more confidance in myself.

I think my greatest breakthrough would be when I was able to have concsious dreams. It pretty much merged the astral realm with my dream scape and has lead to my abilities to impact reality from my dreams. I can also observe my dreams as like an omipotent entity. It has greatly improoved my invocation and evocation skills and has allowed me to really percieve myself, in a more tangible way, in various layers of consciousness.

Creating my first Tulpa (Servitor), although by this I mean visible to me. I have no doubt my unconscious created Tulpas in the past. This will sound particularly bizarre but I believe my pocket Thoth Tarot has become a Servitor, complete with personality. I suppose you can't work with a tarot deck so incredibly pregnant with symbolism from every magickal system pretty much known (east and west), day after day, night after night for decades without it taking on its own life.

The conscious visible manifestation of a Tulpa, though, is my big breakthrough. Unfortunately, I have not been able to make my Tulpas manifest for other people, the true test in Tibet of success with Servitors. Another breakthrough in future? Of course a Tibetan lama, guru or master would turn around and say "Congratulations on manifesting your tulpa to others," then he'd laugh and tell me it's all an illusion (the purpose of Tulpas in Tibet are to help initiates understand the unreality of reality and the reality of unreality.).

Good topic,
well its the time i was able to project visible energy out of my wand that i was able to see..
the energy is beautiful it is colored like a rainbow and moving like smoke out of the wand's crystal, and it was shaped like a fountain, and brightly colored.
It needed an exhausting concentration to make it actually visible for me and others as well (I was sweating).

Also the time when i was able to ascend to a very high astral realm, I and a voice speaking of a secret revelation about the universe and the laws governing it.
I saw a blinding white light and wisps flying peacfully around it. and i asked a spirit that looked like an old man with angel wings where i was,he told me we are in the infinate source below (the throne of God).
this was a very mystical experience, which i learned alot about our world and the worlds above.

My next step is the spheres below netzach (descending ).

mine would have to be the first time i made it to the void

that falling feeling where its like everything solid just falls away

and you see your real self and where you really are

i was told to tell myself, over and over, that all of everything is a lie

everything, period, is false data and a complete lie

what we experience as the physical world is a lie - a complete falsehood

then that luscious fall as reality drops away, but of course there is nothing to feel or anything, because there is nothing there

there is only me, and you, and a billion-billion others, radiating timelessly like suns into the blackness of the void

immensely cool!!!!!

the next best time was when i realized that the physical world is just a reflection of our own emittance off the sea of the void!

and to change the world, just change yourself

that was cool too, but without the void i would haven't seen it, so the void is still #1

with love, period

This isn't my most exciting but this was a fun and over the years had had a profound influence on me.

I have had the great opportunity to work with Max a genuine ancient crystal skull (also known as the talking rock or the Texas skull). He is starting to get more notice since the new Indy movie.

About 11 yrs ago, we were having our annual Max event locally. Before one of our group moved to Ca. there were functions between 2 houses on the same block. These houses are on acre + lots so 2 houses over was a bit of a walk. This year (year 2 of our event) there was a lot os moving Max back and forth between houses. At one point Joann handed me Max in his case (an old '50 - '60's style cosmetic case) and asked me to take the skull to the other house. Max is about 16 pounds. The case also has a strap to assure the case doesn't come open. About the only thing Max fears is being dropped. I was dumbfounded that she would let me take the skull unescorted out of her near vicinity. There aren't too many she would let do that. Anyway I took it to the other house. They did there ceremony a little late and it was past time for the skull to return to the other house for privet sessions. I packed him up but I did not pull the strap tight enough. As I picked up the case with Max in it I hear, "HEY!... my seat belt is not tight enough put me down". This was not the usual voice in the head this was almost like hearing a physical voice. I actually looked around to see whare it was coming from. I'm thinking yes it was tight as I could get it, I'm finally loosing it. I put it down to check, not many are allowed to carry him and I didn't want to be the one to drop him. Sure enough it was loose. I fixed the problem and started off. I took a short cut accrues a yard, as I was now late. He just kept talking like a nervous person on an airplane, jokes, comments on trees and other things. I really thought I had gone off. As I was crossing the drive way I hear "OooH look at all the ancestors" . I looked around to see what the heck he was talking about. At this point it was just like I was walking with a friend of many years and I was really thinking this can't be this is a rock making jokes and blabbing. No I have lost it. I looked down and noticed that the drive way was paved with fossil clams, most were whole. The drive was about 100 feet long as I walked down the drive the voice stopped except for one more "Ooooh lots of ancestors". As I was entering the street I hear "I want one". I was getting a bit frightened not of the rock I was caring but now I'm getting instructions. I didn't pay it any attention but picked up the pace a bit. Then he said louder "I WANT ONE". I said look "Max they are filthy..." "I WANT ONE". I picked up the last one before the street. "NO, not that one" Ok this is getting too weird. I dropped the one I picked up and said "Is this one good enough". "Yes, that is a nice one". I hurried with this sandy fossil in my hand.

I got back to the house, put him in the meditation room for the next private. Joann was sitting on the couch and I ploped next to her. She was talking so I sat not really wanting to announce that I had finally lost it. When she paused I held out my closed hand and said "Joann." She looked at me then my hand and saw I was holding something, she put out her hand, I dropped the clam into her hand. She looked a bit startled and puzzled. She looked at it as if a kid had just dropped something dirty (which it was) and disgusting into her hand. I said Max wants this, he was talking to me joking between bits of great information. She looked up, "Oh, yes he has me pick up stuff all the time, I have a basket full of his toys next to him when we are home." I was totally relieved.

That was the real start of a wonderful journey that is still on going. If you ever get a chance you should see him. Give him about an hour and he will change your life.

Note for those that might be interested in Max. There is a lot of crap out there about crystal skulls, there are a lot that are claiming to be Ancient and are carved in china. The official site was taken down after Nick died. I have a few pics of him in the gallery, if you come across a Max or crystal skull web site or event and the pictures of the skull don't look like the ones in the Gallery, it is not him. He is very unique in that there is no way he could have been carved. As Max gets better know the dubious sites will become more prolific. A friend of mine and Joann are trying to put together a book on what is known about Max.

I'm not going to get into detail here (you can read about it in my blog), but I performed a profound Enochian procedure that resulted in a total breakdown (both physical and mental). I've only recently recovered to the point of being able to write about it (like a phoenix rising from the ashes). I include this in this thread because it was, for me, the foremost defining point in my life (to date). It revealed to me my True Self and my True Path as nothing else has in my 30+ year magickal quest.

For a Peace Profound,

My First Connection with My Higher Self In The Astral Environment, I was led up to a great Height into a temple in the sky, it was incredable and extremely lucid. After This my whole perspective changed and suddenly everything in my environment and my perception has taken on a distinct Quality that reverberates esotericism in all things,....wonderful experience, deadful at times, yet wonderful.

I had two: Making a true psi-ball, and successfully astral projecting using a dream-state as a spring-board.

The psi-ball was during early 2005, I believe. My dad was in the other room... To this day, I don't know what posessed me to not go out there and share it's vibrations with him so that he would no longer raise an eyebrow to my pursuit of metaphysics.

The astral projection bit was quite nice. To this day, I don't know what to make of it. I rose through different states of being that were very... strange... to say the least, and I was brought to a reflective window. A woman with White/silver hair shaped like Cloud's haircut from Final Fantasy 7 appeared on the other side. She wore a red leather outfit with black complementary trim and accents. She remotely controlled my hand to tap at my chest, as if to say, "Ok, I brought you here, the rest is all on you." and I projected myself to the other side...to the biggest waterslide resort I've ever seen! I don't think such a place exists on earth, with waterslides so huge!

But, my awareness told me that I was suffocating in my pillow, so I had to phase out and back into mundus. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/oops.gif)

This year so far, my best magickal breakthrough has been successfully stepping back from automatically both abstracting the incoming stream of sense data and weaving it together to form the sensual tapestry, such that I can put perception on hold, then explore, refine, and re-associate the triggers for deeply instinctive responses - with complete consciousness.

I really do not know how adequately to explain the intensity, the impact, and the finesse that this achievement has enabled me to bring for directly and carefully working on my body's genetic predispostions. All I can say is that what I am talking about here transcends any sort of simple and typical trance, or other commonly taught and basically meditative, state.

QUOTE(Radiant Star @ Mar 2 2006, 04:52 AM) *

I have never read Harry Potter, not even a single page, but I know it has inspired a few to take up magick.

For me, it was "I Dream of Jeannie" (I always thought it was so cool to be able to blink one's eyes and have whatever you wanted appear magically before you.)

Anyhoo ... in terms of magickal breakthroughs, I don't quite know where to begin.

I got started in magick via "The Secret" (By the same token, I got started in TS as I was looking for an easier way to apply the teachings of Dr. Wayne Dyer.)

I was walking in the bookstore one day and I picked up a copy of Christopher Penczak's "Instant Magick." After noticing that HE uses affirmations (Just like "The Secret"), I decided to milk that technique for all it was worth! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Suffice to say, I've applied "The Secret" in ways that Rhonda Byrne could never have imagined! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol_2.gif)

My first magickal breakthrough was about 8 years ago, dealing with meditative concentration techniques plain and simple. The setting was just right, and after MANY unsuccessful attempts I finally had a good one, though very scary to me at the time.

I was sitting in my private study right around the bewitching hour, gazing at the one candle burning, shamanic drumming playing in the background, and holding the visualization of the red triangle in my mind's eye. I was taught the red triangle was best for this. I finally closed my eyes becoming sick of looking at the candle. The drum beat slowly intensified. The triangle got bigger with the drums speeding up ever so slowly.

Then the real mystical experience paid me a visit,(hard to fully describe as they so often are). I could feel a warmth slowly surging through my head, while an unexplainable feeling was going through my body. The red star had left me, and was now a blur of white stars flying through my minds eye unreasonably fast. It felt as if my consciousness was being sucked out of my head towards the cosmos, and that was all I could take. I seriously panicked, feeling as if I was going to be sucked out into the void, no control of myself which is a very helpless scary feeling,(especially at the time when not expecting it or understanding it).

That was it for me. With all my effort I sucked myself back in to regain control of my thoughts. I slaped myself, threw my glass of water on my face, reached over for the lights, hit the stereo off and got the hell outta dodge! There was another "method" or 2 used to attain my altered state of mind to have this intense of an experience, but nothing that I feel is relevant or would want to encourage those new to this art to try.

I was truly shaken up by this experience. I went outside pacing for an hour pacing trying to "sober up" so to speak. The one thing that stabbed my brain like a knife, was something my teacher used to always tell me, and I heard it in the most awesome voice like it was spoken right in my ear- "CONCENTRATION IS THE KEY TO EVERYTHING"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm telling this story in terms of how I understood things then.

My realization came to the front that day when I understood the awesome powers we all have inside us, lying dormant, waiting to be awoken, calling us to meet our true selves. The possibilities are endless in this endless universe. I wish you all the best in your endeavors, and hope you all find your small trodden path home. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I think the biggest thing in my book magickally speaking, is going to meet the Gods on the Astiral level. I've been doing astrial travel for five or more years now, it makes casting and ritual so much easier. But one of my favorites is going to meet the spirits, and Gods then reading in a book later that explains that God/dess with the exact attributes.

Well, first finding the Underworld on the astrail level really gave me quite the magickal revolution.
