Okay, last night I attempted my first evocation. I'm pretty sure that my prayers were a bit off and my rituals were anything but perfect. But I after I actually called out the initial evocation, I got an odd feeling. I felt as if if a warm breeze wafted over me, and like someone else was in the circle with me. Then my lamp (or, rather, it's a candle holder with a hole in the roof to let the light out) started flickering and the flame was behaving strangely. I'm not sure if that was just my mind messing with me, or was Lecabel (that's who I was calling) actually in the circle with me

lol - why do people always expect fireworks? - what did you expect them to do, throw you against the wall, or maybe stomp on your foot? - they are invisible entities that can't touch but can affect stuff

why on earth don't the books teach the things you need to know before doing this stuff?

we are constantly surrounded by invisible people (most call them entities) that ignore us because we ignore them - we finally get their attention by calling them, and then, nothing...cause we can't see them we ignore their presence and doubt that our call worked

this world is so about fireworks - feelings are dismissed as just being feelings, but feelings are everything in magic - it is the connection to the invisible world

understand that feelings are a language of sorts, and go again, but don't piss them off by ignoring them when they show up at your call

it is the occult moral in the children's story of the boy who cried wolf - when you call they come, period (unless you piss them off)

Well, I wasn't expecting anything big, but I was just wondering if he might not have came because I didn't do the ritual perfect.
Also, I notice we're in the same state. That's cool, I've never met another person in Alabama who is interested in the occult

"this world is so about fireworks - feelings are dismissed as just being feelings, but feelings are everything in magic - it is the connection to the invisible world"

well personally I don't care (actually I do but you get the point) how many years I have to wait until I feel I am ready for an evocation, but the day I do I personally fully expect "fireworks". That's my opinion. So my answer is if you wanted fireworks and didn't get them yes you did do something wrong. Really only you can work on that. I guess it would be your level of spiritual development. I don't like terming it that since it is a little cliche and vague but I still feel that is what it is.

"I got an odd feeling. I felt as if if a warm breeze wafted over me, and like someone else was in the circle with me" Better than nothing keep at it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (I don't say this from personal experience I have never evoked anything, but practicing seems like it would help)

Expect nothing, or you will get caught up in the future and not pay attention to the present. Just do the practice diligently, do it because you enjoy it, do it because you believe in it. Don't wait for results, don't wait for it to happen.

I'm actually with Tomber here; blame the carpenter, not his tools. My opinion (not that I've done anything more than read up on evocation) is that an evocation is supposed to bring an entity onto our side without limits; to make it a being of our world. I do think you brought the entity there and partway into our world, but not fully; the evocation was "incomplete," as it were.

Still, bottom line you DID summon Lecabel, if only partially, and that's something to be proud of. Keep working on it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I didn't get physical fireworks either when I summoned, though I kept an open mind about observing signs. The only indication I received of the presence of spirit was chills on the back of my neck and down my back and arms. I learned this in other practices. The real fireworks are when the changes you requested start to manifest. After all, to summon a demon is to do so for a specific purpose, to ask for its aid, to change something that would otherwise be difficult or impossible without spiritual intervention.

The one thing I am uncertain about, and I may end up creating a separate topic to ask this question, is how often should invocations be undertaken? Should you do your initial invocation and then just daily mediations thereafter toward the demon to emphasize your request until you see the changes and then follow through on offerings and payment? How long should you wait to do another complete invocation?

So you are saying there is no such thing as summoning a demon to physical form or appearance? in that case why would grimoires have descriptions of the appearance of each demon?...sounds like you among most other people here are thinking they are evoking spirits or demons but really just have a good imagination.
