Yes. It was today a long, long time ago at 4:37 AM. It was said that my mother (like Buddha's mom, heh heh) felt no pain during labor. A nurse screamed when I crowned as my mother lay on a gurney waiting to be taken to the maternity ward. The Medical Marvels at Astoria General Hospital then, in a frantic MASH-unit rush, anesthetized her. I was "delivered" although I think my very first emotion must have been annoyance. And frankly, in contemplation of my birthing process at the crack of dawn this morning, it dawned on me--after 50 years--that my very first reaction to it all probably was" WTF?" But I'm thinking that, for any given person ever born, "WTF?" isprobably the usual response.
