QUOTE(benrachor @ Jun 24 2006, 08:00 AM) Do you wear a black or white robe during your magical workings? Greetings benrachor, I have found Traditionally that when someone is a member of a Magickal Order the Color of the Robe depends on the Grade the Initiate has reached within the Order. For instance; The Outer Order of the Golden Dawn wears a Black Tau Robe, while the Inner Order ofthe Golden Dawn, or more correctly the R.R. et A.C. wears a White Robe. Then of course you have the Robes of the Officers, being Colors significant unto their Station. Respectfully, Helel (Joseph) (IMG: style_emoticons/default/egypt1.gif)

QUOTE Mostly white..... there have been occassions where the clothes have come off though No details please! *covers eyes* Actually happened to me at a group working, had just joined and was asked to wear all white, didn't have any trousers and so they gave me a robe, like they used to wear in egypt to cover my waist. Soooo glad one lady gave me a pair of tights, leggings, stockings? I'M NOT GAY! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/angry_pissed_off_emoticon.gif) Anyway, the robe thingy fell down and I didn't notice until a bit later, all the women were singing behind me and didn't even say. Twas lame. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Wear a pair of white trousers (bought a pair) for my rituals mainly cause I do banishings and stuff. Would like to get all the colour robes and use them for diffrent purposes, when working with diffrent dieties or elements and so on. Like Black and Gold though, all black would get a bit lame. Need that gold trim. Theres also these well cool robey thingys the muslems wear, not Dashikis but kinda similar... (IMG: http://www.24hourmuseum.org.uk/content/images/2005_5535.JPG) Not really the same, the ones I'm talking about are floor leangth, split down the middle and have like writing down the two sections. Well cool trust me. They look mystic but they're casual.

I was the same way. I had to drape my black cloak over me with the hood way down to focus. Now I wear what ever I want and usually pick a color connected with the occasion, especially if it is a seasonal festival. I'll dress up for initiations and other special ceremonies, otherwise I tend to have spontaneous rituals. Also, I realized it is far to dangerous to wear a robe when dealing with not so nice entities. I don't want to catch a hem or sleeve on fire while I've got Mr. or Mrs. Trouble cornered. QUOTE(Frater F.A.M.E. @ Aug 17 2006, 05:38 AM) I don't wear a robe, just my everyday clothes. The less prep, the better; though in the beginning, I needed and wanted a certain formality, so I had a "sacred jumpsuit", LOL!! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I also had a "Sacred T-Shirt", lol! Hell, I still came to know that I'm sacred, lol! Occasionally I might go sky clad during the summer (though I havn't done so since the summer before last). It feels gooooood, lol! -F.F.

Bathrobe? Are you doing rituals in the bathroom? (IMG: style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I'm joking and serious. Some of the most powerful spells I've done where while I was totally relaxed in a big tube with massage jets. Ahh ... let the mind go and the power flow. It is also a good place to stimulate the mind into thinking about the water element or water realm. Before going to an interview or important meeting the bathroom is my temple and I take the time for self-empowerment. I'm sure there are others here whose ritual garb was a towel at some point or another. QUOTE(Slayden @ Jul 11 2007, 10:28 PM) I'll play with the robe a bit at first but I'll more than likely toss it once I'm at least a little proficient at evocations. Honestly, I don't see any use in it, but I'll (somewhat) play by the rules at first, hence the bathrobe.

QUOTE(Darkmage @ Nov 12 2006, 11:17 AM) Neither. For me it's everyday street clothes. Since all of them are black, I suppose I'd fit into the 'black robe' camp on a technicality, but I don't think in mind they had knit turtlenecks, Gap jeans, and knee-high boots in mind when they wrote that. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Don't forget the black trenchcoat to finish it off, Dark...and maybe some wraparound shades. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/insane.gif) Quite seriously though, in a way that could be very appropriate for doing magick, and truthfully I used to envision myself wearing something similar when I was doing retrieval work. I assume, after all, that one of the aspects of the Great Work could definitely be considered, "freeing one's mind." (IMG: style_emoticons/default/gleam.gif)
