Actually...you didn't even need that...but why not? Some find it easier to use a black mirror whilst others have used a pool of ink in the palm of your hand. I, personally, like to 'objectify' the vision in a chunk of obsidian but have also used my minds eye in a pinch! You can use whatever suits your purposes or whatever helps you to achieve 'the mood'...
Mugwort infusion is often used when clearing a crystal/shew stone. Again, all this is window dressing but no shame in its use! Good Luck! (IMG:
