It depends on the circumstances and your sensitivty. For instance, it isnt hard to read someones energy while chatting with them on the phone. With a bit of effort, you could also do it while chatting-typing with someone on MSN or Yahoochat. Explain the details and perhaps we can give a more definite answer.
