Rethinking The Watchtowers Options

I wasn't sure whether to put this is sorcery or witchcraft, because it seems to kinda cater to magic as a general whole. Anyway, I found this article the other day which blew everything I've ever known about magical theory SKY HIGH. Not so much because someone suggested a new idea, but because their new idea made a lot of sense. So I'd be curious to know what everyone thinks of the article, and if anyone has gone by this funky practice before now. Audi

LOL! I've been using that formula for awhile now with some very positive results! I think that the system described has much merit...though I'm not as convinced that it was a deliberate blind. Having delved into some magic orders grades, most of them use the standard east=air symbolism. For many the 'old' system (east=air) will be the symbology of preference because this is what was hammered into them through mainstream media. Try using this with some hardcore elemental evocation and you will see!

Hey, thanks for your input. Two questions, though; One, if you don't believe the mainstream compass point associations were deliberately put there to be misguiding, than how to you think they found their way into common belief? Two, I noticed that you referred to most magical orders as using the current associations of air to the east. Was the word most just kinda there because it's a superfly word, or have you heard of orders that use the associations of air to the north and earth to the east? Sorry for all the questions:P, but questioning everything is kinda the way I roll. Thanks again

i'm one who feels things so for me the elements turn, literally - also there is the difference between the southern and northern hemispheres, unless you are working with the planet as a whole - i have never accepted anything printed as true, for the mere setting it down on paper with ink limits it, and we all have learned conditioning which changes the meaning of what we read to perhaps be something different than what the author intended

On the other hand, casting a circle is supposed to work as sort of a generator of magical energy. In a generator it varies from positive to negative points magnet-style, which would make sense that a circle should go passive-active-passive-active. Therefore, based on electromagnetic principals and such, would raise more energy than having the active elements together and the passive elements together.

If you look at the I-Ching pentagram of 5 elements it basically works that way. The elements follow each other around the pentagram. I've been experimenting with octograms using the elements at the corners of the circle, ie NE,SE,SW,NW rather than at the cardinal points. It gives good results and seems more logical although its harder balancing or off setting the circle depending on which focus you apply to the cardinals. The other problem is simultaneously raising and maintaining 8 focii. Its good practice though, and its pointed me in directions I hadnt considered before.
