Liber Angelus: First Uses, Experiences and thoughts Options

First of all, I want to mention that I couldn't have put this book together without brother Nero's help, and of course Aaron Leitch's book "Secrets of the magickal grimoires". It's a great book for the practicing magician, and brother Nero is hopefully going to put out a book as well on how to put together a practical grimoire based on his classes, so that's going to be great for us all.

Anyway, it took me aproximately 8 months to consecrate, write, draw, and finalize my book. I would basically work on it for a couple of months on and off, and eventually I reached a point where I was compelled to finish it, so I'm glad it finally happened because I'm a terrible procrastinator, lol.

My book is simply an angelic book, and the first angels I put in it are the 7 planetary angelic rulers. These are the angels you get when you add aleph-lamed to the end of the hebrew planetary name (see pg.270 in "secrets..."). I was told these are the angels one should go to for practical results in magic. Being young and always wanting more, I opted for these angels as my primary go-to guys (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif).

Not being particularly adept at astral senses and lacking natural psychic talent to perceive spirits, I was wary of investing so much time into this project, fearing I wouldn't obtain results, but I had the feeling it was best to continue, so finally I made it to the 7 day creation process that Nero described in his classes.

One thing I found was that during these days, one attunes themselves to the planetary energies deeply so be careful and ready for that "spicy" flavor of tuesday and sunday, lol. I suffer from a weak digestive system so eating spicy foods (or working with very hot planets) causes me lot's of pain at times, so this is to be expected at times. This is a good sign though.

After the book was finished, I noticed the energies around me changed in a very positive way. I won't go into this too much (for fear it will stop!), but good things are to be expected from investing lot's of time and energy into a project like this.

Again, to keep silent is best, but I will give an account of my first working with the book.

I worked with one of the angels hoping to get practical results. I was having a hard time in my life and although I had only just finished my book a week before, I decided that I should begin to plan for my first evocation with the book within the next two weeks.
I spent the first week with the work in mind constantly, then the next week in prayer, following strictly the last three days before the working the 2 prayers that are said many times a day (found in the greater key), never missing one prayer or one day, splashing holy water on myself each time I said the prayers.
I avoided social gatherings and even though I was forced to be in a party area (it just happened to be the yearly festival that same week for my town) I carried my bottle of holy water and my prayers that I printed out and I would sneak off somewhere to be alone to say my prayers.
Most importantly, I was abstinant for 8 days before the ritual, which I feel is very important and a key to great success.
Finally the night came to perform my evocation outdoors. The conditions would have been perfect had it not been a particularly hot night, and of course, being near lakes and streams I was constantly attacked by mosquitos during my conjurations, lol.
I only went through the first conjuration from the greater key, and the specific conjuration to the angel. I then pulled out a card that I had prepared for my request, written on consecrated parchment with a consecrated marker, I read it out loud and placed it within my book after following my instinct that the angel wanted it there. I felt no presence, I saw no visions, nothing. I don't blame myself for that though, because the conditions were not perfect. Plus I've never expected angels to manifest much, only induce visions.

The next morning, I obtained my results. In fact, checking the hours that I received them, I found that the results started only 30 minutes after I had finished my evocation. If I had kept my big mouth shut though, I would still be enjoying said results (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

That's a great lesson for us all. KEEP SILENT! Since then I've learned from my mistake, which leads me to believe that the energies of the angels is incredibly subtle. Powerful and capable of altering reality as we know it, but it's so subtle that even the tiniest change around it will cause it to dissipate. Therefore it's best to let the energies mature and work through long enough to be sure that they won't go away just because you told someone you evoked so-and-so.

In conclusion, I believe this is one of the best things I've done for myself magically, and even in my whole life, simply because I proved to myself that magic is real, and although I've had my doubts in the past, I now believe the gods don't hate me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I think I should mention that, whatever method you write down in your book to make initial contact with the spirits is absolutely necessary to follow for the first few times you evoke the spirits!
If you're given new ways to contact them (as Nero suggests), then use that, but until that happens it is best to use the FULL ritual outline that you lay out in your book, for the simple reason that the spirits won't come if you do anything less than that until they are more used to you and you to them (energetically speaking).

I am glad to hear the classes and material has been helpful. As I explained in the lessons this method is something I "invented", then later found historical precedents for it. Using aaron's material and the classic grimories I created mine. Continued use has allowed me to refine my methods as it is now my sole method of spirit work. Recently I stumbled across the information that the enochian angels instructed Dee to create a book that contained all the prayers and conjurations for use within the temple. I know very little about enochian so I am still researching the details but it is fascinating none the less. The spirit book seems to pop up over and over again.

Aaron recommends using the planetary intelligences and the angels of the days and hours. They are very helpful but I have found them sometimes difficult to gain a good contact with in operations. The planetary name angels have been very easy to contact, very friendly and easy to work with and seem closer to our plane so work rather well with mundane issues. They also figure prominently in Dee's work as well. He called them the "Seven Great Angels" and the "angels of the Seven Circles of Heaven" and are found upon his SIGILLVM DEI AEMETH. Which I was unaware of until recently.

The angels become a part of the book and the book becomes a part of you. It forms an interesting relationship that extends beyond the ritual operations. In time the angels become almost constant guides and teachers.
