OK, everyone, I could use your help and collective wisdom here.
Long story short: I have a crapload of autoimmune problems. For the most part they're firmly under control and well managed. However, my thyroid has crashed and me and my doc have NO idea what the hell is going on. He tested me for Addison's, it came up clean. I still have the Puffy Face to the point I can actually pull and wiggle the skin on my forehead (!), my mouth doesn't close completely because it's swollen, and I have to pull some of my eyelashes out lest they poke me in the eyes when I blink. EXCEEDINGLY IRRITATING. Add to that the general hypothyroid constellation of symptoms including headaches, mental fog, muscle/joint aches, and generally feeling like one has been hit by a very large truck going very fast, and you all can get the general idea. Normally I wouldn't ask except I can't concentrate on any one thing for more than about five minutes at a time right now and my head hurts like hell.
My question is this: How can I find a way to bring out the root cause of this problem and get it solved ASAP? *living* with one of these issues isn't hard once the cause is found as most endocrine AIs are pretty easy to treat--hormone replacement usually does the trick. The hard part is FINDING the damned thing as they often wax and wane over time and set in slowly, so by the time a diagnosis is clear the patient has usually, though not always, been suffering for quite a while. Since the Synthroid/Cytomel cocktail isn't working too well at present (he took me off Synthroid to better see what's going on), it's pretty clear something's running in the background.
I really want to dig this thing up and drag it kicking and screaming into the light of day so it can be fixed. I'm not sure if my old standby of a red/black candle would do the trick. Divination isn't working too well for me atm: see definition of 'mental fog.' Evocations are out for the same reason right now--I don't want to summon up something potentially hostile and forget why I called it in the first place as doing so is BAD. :/
Any ideas, suggestions, or rotten fruit you may have would be exceedingly helpful.
