The Lost Years of Jesus
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
by Elizabeth Clare Prophet

"Documentary evidence of Jesus' seventeen year journey to the east from age 13 to 29"

Here's what the back cover reads:

"Ancient texts reveal that Jesus spent seventeen years in the Orient. They say that from age thirteen to age twenty-nine he was both student and teacher. The events of his pilgrimage from Jerusalem to India were recorded by Buddhist historians. To this day he is known and loved throughout the East as Saint Issa.

For the first time, Elizabeth Clare Prophet brings together the testimony of four eye-witnesses of these remarkable documents. With the thoroughness of a determined disciple turned detective she tells the intriguing story of the international controversy that arose when the manuscripts were first discovered in 1887 by Nicolas Notovitch - how experts "proved" they did not exist, only to have them rediscovered in this century by Swami Abhedananda, Professor Nicholas Roerich, and Dr. Elisabeth Caspari.

Now you can read in one volume the chronicles and legends of what Jesus did and said in India, Nepal, Ladakh, and Tibet prior to his Palestinian mission - and the heartwarming personal accounts of those who made the trek to the Himalayas and brought back the most revolutionary message of our time."

Here's a link to an online book on the subject:

I own all four books in the series. The first one is head and shoulders above the rest of the books in terms of substance and thought provoking. The other three are okay but not nearly as good as the first book. Chapter 1: Removing the Mask Chapter 2: The Point of Origin Chapter 3: A Perfect Design
Chapter 4: Momentum. This is an old time favorite and I actually have some stuff highlighted, here's a quote from Chapter 3 under the heading of Christ Conciousness

It's because we feel so small. We look at the universe in awe and we say, "Ho, this great vast universe! I don't understand it. And what is important is that I brighten the corner where I am with my own personal glory." And we say this because we feel so small. We cheat ouselves. We defraud ourselves constantly. And we see others defrauding themselves and we say, "well, they do it too"-and we find solace in that. And is it really something that brings any degree of comfort to our hearts? Of course not.

All in all this first book is pretty good. Of course the all problem with it and pretty much all from the Prophets is the hideous, nearly unbearable piousness with which they write. Ugh, it's definitely worse that I've ever encountered, but if you can manage to see through such things you'll find some good knowledge.

It's interesting to note that Jesus was seemingly everywhere during these lost years, I've read books that reported Jesus traveling through Britain and the isles with great revelry. So this is just one of many insights into where Jesus has been reported to have been.

I do not know why - but all of Elizabeth Clare Prophet's stuff just rubs my fur the wrong way.

I have been trying to put my finger on the reason for that for years. For a while I thought it was merely because of her writing style. But each time I wrap my mind through the undulations of her paradigm, I find myself feeling like I once did after eating several bags of cotton candy, two big gulps, a coke slurpee, then riding the Tilt-A-Whirl twice in row at the visitng carnival.

When it comes to stories that go beyond the biblical gospel narrative for the Jesus story, I prefer the one offered in the Urantia Book. That is probably the best one that I have read so far.

However, I am curious to learn more about what others think about the teachings that Elizabeth and her group offer regarding those so-called "lost years".

I had come across some sources that said his eastern like answers were a result of time spent in the Orient. It is interesting to note that some of his sayings like the Golden Rule can also be found in Buddhist scriptures.

Thanks For the Link.
