In my dream, I'm being followed by a lion (Technically, it was a lioness).

This lioness is just getting into everything. It's getting into people's cars (my own included). It's invaded this restaurant. No one seems to have any inclination to capture the thing.

I've locked it in this one room of the restaurant (the door is barricaded by a couple of chairs), but the barricade doesn't hold. The lioness gets out.

You'd think someone would call animal control with such a dangerous animal on the loose. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused012.gif)

What unpleasant thing is going on in your life which you feel like you have no control over, and feel like others don't know about or take seriously?

Where do I begin?

The Economy:

I feel as if I'm living in a world turned upside-down.

I've been looking for work. What salary do I ask for?

I feel like I'm listed on Hell's eBay ("Do I hear $38,000? How about $35,000? ... $32,000? ... $31,000?")

I get the sense nowadays that the "ideal employee" is expected to be a martyr -- someone who is expected to give, give, give even as the company sucks them dry.

Don't get me wrong ... I like what I do (public relations). That said, passion alone won't pay the rent.

I used to get a lot of that sort of dream. for me it was always symbolic of a problem in my life that I felt powerless to address, and which others did not know about or did not understand or take seriously.
for me that resulted in a number of dreams where something was very wrong (being chased/stalked, being in a building on fire, etc) where I was the only one being chased or the only one who seemed to mind that the building was burning, etc.
all in all, fairly unpleasant dreams. You could train yourself to go lucid when you feel threatened in a dream. Or you could try to establish a sense of empowerment over the thing(s) which are bugging you.

The "ideal employee" incidentally, works for free, is on call to work whenever you need them, holidays etc, never gets sick, never takes vacations, doesn't want health benefits, doesn't mind working in hazardous conditions, gives you every ounce of their time, energy, and stamina, and drops dead the day before collecting any retirement.

Which is kinda why pure uncontrolled capitalism without unions or regulation is about as delightful as a totalitarian dictatorship.

Here I was looking for something else and I find this!

I too dreamt I was being chased by a lioness.
A car rushes at me to frighten me, driving me to fall against a tall chain link fence which was so weak that I just drop it.

All I can keep thinking is who on earth thinks it's a good idea to enclose a wild beast in a dog house like structure behind such a flimsy fence!

I run home and have to save a handful of kids I'm apparently taking care of. But they freeze, some cry and others scream- none try to run upstairs and lock themselves in. So I run behind them and yell at them to hurry and protect themselves. And stay until every child is safe, and I finally get up to hide when I carry up a child who was crying and froze in fear.

And given this helpful analysis by Kath.. this absolutely makes sense.
