I need a good team of three or four permanent writers for an occult zine. Only requirment is that you can formulate a sentence and meet deadlines. Knowing how to read for book reviews helps too.

Care Ashnook,

I've actually been considering doing a e-zine for a while now, but it never really came together.

Anyway, depending on how frequent you expect it to be published I might be interested.

Regards,
Nick

Formulate a sentence? That sounds like a challenge. Sign me up. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bicycle.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bicycle.gif)

Sounds fantastic! Any thoughts on the direction, angle? I'd love to get involved - I can formulate a sentance... but normally can't stop at once... like pringles. o_O

I need writers for an occult zine. Stories, book reviews, rituals, critics of rituals, instructions, etc. This will *NOT* be an "ezine" and will be published in actual paperback. I am hoping for one edition every two months. The name of it is "Sacred-Magick Ink." For all who have shown interest, your signed up. Now what I need are some topic ideas from each of you.

Thanks,
Ashnook

Very interesting. This bi-monthly magazine will be offered through the site or is there distribution included? Is there also the availability of becoming a contributing author through submissions or is this a one shot deal? I have done work with magazines and books. Too bad you don't need an artist, I'd gladly contribute that as well.

Writing is one of my talents, I would be glad to help. However I may lack the amount of experience you are looking for.

Off the top of my head, few topics might be:

Integrating the Occult into Life
Reviews of Occult Shops in various areas (where is this zine centered?)
Highlighting some of the more recent developements in the occult world (exploring recent 'energy therapies' maybe, comparing the old paradigms to the new)
Tracing some of the more popular grimoires through the last couple of decades
Maybe a piece exploring the importance/place of the occult in the new millenium

those are the first five things that came to mind.

I have no life to speak of, so i'm sure it's just the tip of the iceberg. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bounce.gif)

Hey,

So far ive only found two workable solutions to distribution. Either go through a company called LuLu publishing, or put the physical zine together myself and mail them off. The only zine specific printing company that I have found is based in the U.K. which with the exchange rate between the pound and the $, mezwell just go through LuLu. I am still looking though! While I welcome writers who only want to contribute a few articles here and there, I am looking for writers who are permanent so to speak. And if one gets a subscribtion and wishes to publish a story, that is certainly welcomed as well. And if you can do artwork, that's cool too!

Wonderful, I'd love to become a regular writer. (And contributing artist) When is the first submissions deadline?

Okay, so far Ive got Chorozon, Vagrant Dreamer, Angalor, Eyes of God, and Smasher as being permanent writers. (Phantom X, pls let me know if you want to be a permanent writer.) If I could get 2 articles written by Aug. 2 it would be a great help! To those who only want to contribute a few articles here and there, just send it my way when you get a chance. Basically just cover occult topics. By the second or third printing well go from there and ill start asking for a few specific topics to be covered.

For Angalor, after I get all of the articles in Ill pick one to be a "featured" article and base the cover artwork off of that. Ill send you the article and give you "free riegn" on what to come up with from there.

how do you want them sent to you, email?

Also, would you like some book reviews or overviews? Id be good at those too.

One more thing, any specifications on the length of the article?

Hey,

Email is best. [email protected] Book reviews and overviews are great, and no real specifications...I mean longer than a paragraph and less pages than a thesis lol but whatever you think does the article justice.

Hey,
I feel intimidated by other occultists when it comes to writing for a real zine but you can count me in as a contributing artist (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Just let me know what you need.

UPS decided to lose my portfolio (5 actual pieces and 24 slides) on its way home from AP testing so I'm a little screwed for examples of my work right now.

Would you be covering mesopotamia in general, or a specific culture, because i had been thinking of covering babylonian, assyrian or sumerian stuff

mesopotamia in general. Was thinking of writing about the ascent into the stars in mesopotamian ritual.

lol **backs away from mesopotamia** XD I was so on the same wave link, because you know first issue, mesopotamia being the first known ancient civilization and lol. I think go in another direction ^^ Perhaps I could do an article on ritual design, basic tool making, costumizing glyphs ect. which would you guys be more interstested in reading?
