Is feeling exhausted, headache, sleepy, dizzy a normal thing after conjuring spirits? Anyone of you have this feeling after your spiritual works?

Yes it is normal.

Generally you will have a "high" or "drunk" feeling. It wears off and you become very tired and out of it. These effects wear off after a few hours and at the most after a good night's sleep.

Sometimes the next day you will get the evocation hang over. Tired and moody and just sort of out of it. This too will pass after another good nights sleep.

As you advance the hang over lessens and finally doesn't happen anymore unless you perform something really strong, but the high and come down after a working generally never goes away after a major magical working.

It is a good sign, means you were successful. If it lasts more than a day or so then I would begin to worry.

Well i had a headache after my first invoaktion. After doing some meditation i only have a slight numb feeling in my third eye section. I really don't know why does it happen, it just does. but like Nero said it's a good thing.

Yesterday I conducted an evocation, before I conducted the evocation, I was thinking to create a servitor, but after the evocation, I became exhausted and decided not to create the servitor.

Usually when you perform an evocation, how does the spirits communicate with you? Through voices in your mind?

Well, I agree that it is normal, but the effects wearing off after a few hours?! I wish! Sometimes I would say that is the case, but with anything that is "heavy" I am not surprised if I feel the after effects for a few days afterwards.

I think a lot depends on one's physical state before doing the ritual, how much effort one has to put in, e.t.c. Still, If I am leading a ritual and really give it my all...and the rite is such that this involves really "charging up" my bio-energetic systems to do so, then I frequently feel tired for anything up to four days afterwards. I must admit though, that I didn't know I could push myself that hard until I had to!

I guess it is always going to be different strokes for different folks, but the sensible thing to do is to take it easy until you know your own limits and to keep a close eye on your mental well-being afterwards. I would consider that more important since the body is a machine, so provided you didn't blow something by going beyond your limits then it'll take care of itself. Post-ritual pampering is always a good idea though. Where possible I always like to have a nice cup of tea as soon as I leave the temple and then a slap-up meal shortly afterwards. Things like that really help to ground you out and recharge your batteries.

Edit: Syntax

When conjuring a spirit, one expends a great amount of spiritual, mental, and physical energy.

To be honest I do not think that is the whole story. When I do my initiations I get the high drunk feeling afterwards which some people refer to as being astrally drunk, a term that is a pretty close approximation of the experience. Complete with the later come down tired exhausted feeling. This feeling probably results from the interaction of the energies called forth and as you said the expenditure of energy.

But I do not get the next day hang overs from initiations, only from evocations. By hang overs I mean almost exactly that, the tired out of it feeling that lasts for about a day or two at the most. The hang over seems to only come with evocations. Also to be honest the hang overs have gotten less and less over the years. I am not sure if that means I am building a tolerance to it like one would with alcohol or if my aura has just gotten stronger or if it is just a result of better techniques on my part. I just don't know.

Take it as a sign that you are doing it right! In time you will no longer get the headaches. You may feel a bit drained only after heavy ritual. When experimenting with new systems other than the one you have become accustomed to expect the headaches and tiredness to return.

Peace!

I went through this a lot, still go through it when I am not thinking.

My recommendations are as follows.

After any major power use. Have plenty of sugars, preferably in the form of fruits and vegetables, but some sweets (brownies, cake, pie) is good too. Also a lot of liquids, lemon-aid or iced-tea is my personal choice.

Second…do some major grounding. This can be a ritual, rolling in the dirt, taking a cold shower, or doing some exercise after you are hydrated again. Even eating a large meal can help in this.

My opinions on why.

Here is the thing, any high use of power will use a lot of brain power, the brain is fueled by sugars. The more natural the fuel the better. The other thing going is possible dehydration, or lack of minerals in your blood. Dizziness is happens when not enough nutrients are reaching the normal areas of the brain.

At the very least, drink a large bottle of sports drink, 2 aspirins, and some cookies.

Depending on what you have done, if it no longer requires effort on your part (your casting is done!) you should do everything in your power to fall back into the mundane and rest mentally for a few hours. Preferably something physical not mental.
Do
Some light dusting
Take a walk
Ride a bike
Call or visit a friend
Go shopping
Cut coupons
Have a drink at a bar
Play real darts
Play real pool
Bake some brownies
Make a meal (not microwave)

Don’t
Read
Watch TV
Play video games
Talk about Magick, Politics, or anything that requires abstract thought.
Do Magick or divanation.
Browse the web
Take a nap (until after you have had a decent meal)

This is something not thought of in the Magickal communities much, but a solid healthy body can do nothing but improve your Magick. While in many cases you want to tax yourself to enter the correct frame of mind, a healthy body recovers faster, and allows you to recognize signals of fatigue for what they are. Allowing you to act accordingly when the time comes.

hope that helps

I never get headaches or feel tired anymore. I used to, but never do anymore. I guess I don't really put much effort into getting the spirit to manifest anymore, but I still feel fairly confident most of the time I made contact. I get results, so that's good enough for me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I do get heachaches when I switch to a different system though. Recently I have gotten into the Necronomicon, and at first caused me some exhaustion. Got over that, and I just got into necromancy to communicate with my ancestors, and that has caused me more headaches, but I recover quickly. I also put drops of van van oil on my third eye and temples. That really helps.

I'm the same, I feel energized and the natural high stays with me. I may have trouble sleeping, but I never crash or feel drained. I think part of the reason is I draw off energies rather than give them. Another reason is I guess I feel this great sense of accomplishment and it's invigorating.

I never had headaches during or afterwards. I get emotionally hyper sometimes. Some pressure on my 3rd eye. Most times I feel like I had a good nights sleep and have high energetic feeling. Consequently giving me insomnia as a result.
