I've been recently exploring chakra work and learning more about how energy works and moves about within the common human. After reading and understanding most of what this subject entails, I've related one internal problem I've been suffering from for quite a long time with an imbalance of energy within. This is my assumption since I feel as though this problem cannot be solved with normal medical procedures, but then again I could be wrong. Allow me to give a small analysis of this problem to further clarify the reason of this relation. All my life I've been very sensitive and susceptible to traumatic, nerve wrecking events and highly stressful situations have been naturally embedded within my being. This is how I feel anyway. I would be sitting at my computer screen without putting much thought into anything stressful one way or another and yet I would suddenly feel a slow, low feeling of nervous impact in the bottom of my stomach. This feeling will be accompanied by an even greater progression of this nervousness and a tighter groping of my insides until I get to the point of shaking and nausia. This leaves me very weak when the feeling eventually dies down, I can usually keep the nervous feeling at bay where it doesn't reach the point of intense shaking, but as you can imagine this is very uncomfortable. I have never been diagnosed with any real health inconsistencies that would lead me to understand this problem from a hospitals POV.

I was wondering if it's possible to have weirdly imbalanced chakra energies moreso than other's who don't consciously work at all with energies/chakras but that don't suffer from this sort of thing. If anyone can offer any solutions or ways to remedy this problem I'd be very grateful as it would help me be rid of this menace and potentially help me progress further in this sort of personal development.

you know, you could suffering from anxiety attacks. have you considered this? anxiety attacks are actually pretty common and should not be dismissed so easily. have you talked to a psychologist about your anxiety issues? Attacks can become worse or more persistent if you ignore them. And they also suggest other mental health problems. For example, two of my family members are bipolar...and both of them have acute anxiety attacks. For a two year period, i was chronically depressed and had anxiety problems myself.
If you are looking for an organic approach to treating your anxiety you should look to bach-flower essences or doctor-recommended dosages of herbal supplements (including but not limited to, St. John's Wart).
Please, stop drinking anything caffeinated and reduce your alcohol and cigarette intake. if you do any illegal drugs, they are probably messing with your moods. if you are taking any prescribed medications...these medications could be indirectly influencing/de-stabilizing/stabilizing your moods. Do not stop taking medications without asking a doctor first, there could be serious side-affects.

I hope this helped (even though i didnt really answer your chakra question).

Thank you very much for your response Valkyrie, your time and what you have to say is much appreciated =)
I have not been to any sort of doctor for a couple years now as I'm not to fond of visiting hospitals and have not had a large enough reason to go to one. I've had this same problem with anxiety since I was very young in age and have tried dealing with it all the ways I knew how. I have indeed learned over time and experience how ingesting anything caffeinated can severely worsen the condition and have reduced in this respect significantly. My family has no records of any mental health problems, which would leave me to believe the problem does not lie entirely as psychological or a chemical imbalance although it could be part of it. Depression is not a huge part of this problem as although I do get quite upset at some situations I find myself in, I try hard to negate the probability of becoming depressed. Maybe I *should* see a therapist (IMG:style_emoticons/default/black eye.gif) Thanks again for your suggestions :-)

I do agree with valkyrie that you might want to talk with a therapist about this. It does sound like some form of anxiety disorder. But you might in addition do meditation. Most likely a bit of focus on the third chakra area might be of additional help.

Don't worry. It'll only seem kinky the first time.

the other thing that i didn't mention is Post Traumatic Stress disorder. If you automatically connect these random moments of anxiety to certain traumatic or stressful life events...that says, to me, that you need to pay more attention to how you react to your problems; you shouldn't HAVE to try to "negate the probability of becoming depressed" and doing just that...causes a LOT of physical problems, including a whole host of mental (and psychic!) problems (which aren't limited to the more serious ones). The fact that you needed to talk to someone about it ONLINE just tells me that you do want to remedy the problem but you don't know how to find support elsewhere. Meditation and healing yourself is great...but without the necessary changes to you lifestyle...the problem will not go away. The worst you can do is go and sit down with a professional, see what recommendations they have...and then decide
F*@$#! it, you don't need their help after all.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/rule.gif) daily affirmations are good too.

I have a great deal of background in chakra and kundalini work and phenomenology. You are not describing some kind of chakra-oriented thing except in the context that a chakra is a psychological complex. You are, as other have suggested, probably experiencing an anxiety or stress disorder, which can take many forms and has little to do with whether you have a family history of mood disorders or psychiatric illnesses (most people with problems go undiagnosed anyway). It's best to get a handle on intense mood states BEFORE getting involved in esoteric kinds of chakra work because certain types of practices will make it all come out like very nasty Pandora's Box. There are prelimiinary conditioning exercises that can be done before you get into the more intense practices.

I hear what you're saying, as I went through something very similar.

One technique that I have found to be a godsend when it comes to anxiety is EFT - emotional freedom technique. Do a quick google search and there are plenty of videos and articles that show you how to do it for free. It's based on the ancient chinese theory that there are meridians running through our body circulating chi. Chi follows intent, and EFT works by focusing on an uncomfortable sensation or memory, and then tapping on meridian points to release blockages - the theory being that traumatising events or negative emotions cause disruptions in our energy flow, often leading to neuroses or illnesses if the blockages are severe enough. I was a bit skeptic at first because it seemed a bit too 'fluffy' and New Age-y for me, but I strongly urge you to try it as it has worked wonders for my anxiety and depression. One issue with it is that if your anxiety is based on a multitude of causes, it may be a little tricky finding out what the core cause is - I didn't get significant headway until I started going to see an energy therapist who is very intuitive and taught me the art of getting down to the core issue. But even using it on your own, you should be able to find relief for anxiety with a bit of persistance.

By the way, my anxiety was exactly as you describe yours, just this horrible nervous feeling in my stomach, for no discernible reason. I got a lot of relief using EFT directly on the anxiety, but it didn't really go away until I worked with my therapist on energy blockages resulting from childhood issues to do with an alcoholic father, a difficult separation between my parents, and the death of my father a few years later. I had no idea that these childhood traumas had anything to do with my anxiety, and I thought I had pretty much neutralised the memories from those events already. Well, as soon as my therapist did EFT on me regarding those memories, my anxiety levels were drastically reduced, have continued to be reduced after three months, and when I do have anxiety I can usually point it to a cause in my life that is stressing me out, and I can use the technique on myself to get rid of it.

Just like you, I intuitively sensed that my anxiety wasn't going to go away through conventional means. A close friend of mine has the same anxiety, and has been put on an anti-anxiety medicine, which she swears by. I am skeptic, since medication for anxiety, in my opinion, is only a treatment of the symptoms and not the cause, and should only really be used as a band-aid to take the edge off while using other means - professional therapy or self-therapy - to remove the roots of anxiety. I've tried to convince her to go the same route as me, without avail, and as much as I think it's a shame, each to their own, I can't live her life for her and nor should I want to. I dabbled with the idea of getting meds, and actually went to the doctor at one point, it was just after a break-up with my ex and my anxiety was unbearable. She put me on some antidepressant which I took for two days, it completely zombified me and I threw the rest in the bin.

By the way, an excellent book that covers energy healing, including meridians, chakras and the like, is "Energy Medicine" by Donna Eden. I learnt a chakra balancing procedure which I described in the 'working with energies' thread from that book, you could try that procedure as well. Although I suspect its more of a cumulative effect, while EFT produces more instant relief. But doing both would probably be even better. Also, the book I mentioned has many other techniques which balance the energies in our bodies.

I applaud you for taking time to look into energy balancing techniques before turning to medication to cover up the symptoms. If only conventional science would take a hint from Traditional Chinese Medicine and realise that so many illnesses, psychological and physical, have everything to do with how the energy is running in our bodies. In the EFT circles, it is generally agreed that 80% of physical diseases, if not more, are caused because of emotions that disrupt our chi flow. I can readily believe this, having cleared a chronic illness that I've had for five years by using EFT. It wasn't a serious illness, but uncomfortable and annoying (female business, I won't go into the details out of consideration for you guys! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blush2.gif) ). Doctors couldn't help me, nor could conventional medicine. As it turned out, after doing EFT on myself, it was actually caused by negative emotions regarding an event that occured about a month before I got the illness. And now, simply by rebalancing my energy system, its gone!!!

Anyway, I apologise for going on and on about EFT, my friends think I've become a bit of a nut because I'm so enthusiastic about it (I managed to convince one of them to try it yesterday, he said he felt an amazing tingling in the whole of his body), but after how much it has helped me, its impossible not to be! EFT is supposed to be a very good tool and often solution...

What came to my mind when I read your post was, that you consciously or not create a block, when energy floods your body.
I would say it is definitely connected to chakras and specifically blocked solar plexus.
To be you I would try solar plexus exercises together with opening your heart chakra as well and great deal of grounding.
When you will feel again the influx the energy, try to relax into it, like into a bath tube full of hot water.
Relax into it.
Feel it.
aaah....
Let it go into you and around you, relax...relax...

Let me know, if something happened, ok?
