Good day
My name is Damjan and I am 18 years old. My mother is engaged in magic since before I was born, mostly tarot and talismans. I also use tarot but that's about it. I would like to further my education and skill in magic. One particular magic is wand magic. I would like to know if spell casting is possible. The spell casting in a way of incantation with 1 or 2 words and a certain wand motion. I believe by a certain logic that, wands are used to focus energy and launch it in a beam but I don't know if that is true. I would also like to know if such a beam, if can be cast, can be seen. This may sound a bit stupid. I am well aware that Harry Potter is unrealistic and I agree. Although, I heard the author of the book, J.K. Rowling, that she took all material for movie, including spells, wands and other things from real witches and wizards who really wrote these books and they exist. Naturally, these books couldn't be found because she changed their name and the names of authors so they wouldn't be misused. Now, I would love to know if spell casting can be done with usage of wand and where could I buy one, custom made, or how can I make one.
Thank you

Ave, I've always been of the opinion that one should make their own tools, whether they be wands, blades, talismans, etc. That said, however, not everyone agrees. And not everyone has the skill, tools, space or means to do so. Please regard this as my opinion only and not any sort of Truth. So let's take an overview - I believe that a wand, like any other tool of the Art, is a focus, that the user is more important than the wand. Others would say that the wand itself is more important than the user. Some believe that the wood or metal or crystal (or whatever) from which the wand is made has properties that make the wand more useful for certain things (look up magical properties of wood, for example). And some practices of the Art do require specific wand materials (such as bone for certain things and wood for others). One wand described by Eliphas Levi would be impossible for most people to construct, and according to the good Eliphas, loses its power if anyone but the maker even sees it. Different practices of the Art sometimes require different types of wands (such as the forked "blasting rod" of Goetic lore versus the ceremonial wand of Levi versus the Phoenix Rod of the Golden Dawn). Some would also say that the day and hour in which a wand is made has a lot of impact on the wand (look up ceremonial magic). So I guess it first comes down to "What do you want to do with your wand? What type of 'magic' do you want to accomplish?" Then you have to decide if you believe strongly that you should make the wand yourself or if it would be okay for someone else to make it. Either way, my opinion is that you still need to exorcise, consecrate, fumigate/cense and properly store the wand - this helps "lock" the idea or symbol of the wand into your mind, I think, meaning if you work with the wand, you feel more strongly about the wand, and it will be more useful to you. I know wands can be found online at any number of websites, but I don't know how well they would be made or how useful they would be. Maybe there's a thread on the forum about online sources for materials. So, as an example, if you believe that the user is more important than the wand, and that you should make your own, then find a "wand" that feels comfortable to you. If you like it, you'll be better able to focus with it. Otherwise, you could look online with a search engine and find a wand that appeals to you and take that route. Custom wands, like anything else, will be more expensive, but that's not always a bad thing if you can afford it and get what you want. I'm not sure either way is better or worse. All I know is what works for me. Maybe some of the specialists here would have more specific information. I hope this helps. Best regards, Hermetic668

QUOTE(Damian1001 @ Jul 26 2009, 09:20 AM) I suppose you are right about what you believe is what is real. And also about making the wand.
Now I will need someone professional to answer to the 1st part of my question. Most importantly, I need to know if such spellcasting is possible and in which books will I find instructions and what books should I search for. So in conclusion, what I want is to be able to cast spells with some visible effect, or invisible, with the use of wand, incantation (I guess in Latin) and wand motions.
Ebony is a good wood, sturdy and solid - I am told it is associated with all the elements, positive luck, and protection, but these are from a European perspective. I don't know about other perspectives. I have not heard it is associated with "evil" however. Ebony used to be a very popular wood for making furniture and musical instruments until it became expensive. Most people will say the wand should be between one and three feet long (18" is about average). As a wood worker, I advise to make sure the wood is dry before you work with it. It's annoying to smooth out and carve wood only to have it bend later because it is still "curing"/drying. Yes, using a wand in the Arts is possible. The power is coming from you, and the wand allows you to focus your energy. I am not aware of any Path that does what you describe, but others may believe differently. Since you don't seem to have decided on a Path or Paths to study, I suggest asking here: http://www.sacred-magick.org/index.php?showforum=89 Best, Hermetic668 This post has been edited by Hermetic668: Jul 26 2009, 09:56 AM

Again thank you for answer. I thought ebony would be great wood and since I am musician and play double bass, I thought when I can to get myself a double bass made out of ebony.
The reason why I haven't chosen a Path is because I don't know much about what Paths there are and what they do, what risk is and so on. I know one thing that I will certainly never engage in Dark Arts because(black magic or necromancy), despite the negative karma I am attracting and the darkness I am awaking in my soul, the monster it turns you to, I am strong christian and I don't want to be engaged in anything that goes against God and Nature. For now, I only have my mothers experience and few books that I can find in city library. I am not interested in Crowley because my mother had him and nor she and nor I do see anything useful in it, quite the opposite, negative. For now, we both study the New Age and Kabbalah. Honestly, I don't know which book to take first to get to know the Arts and Paths.
I have chosen this particular style of magic and spell casting because it is certain, straight forward and you know what you get. So a wand, 1 or 2 words and wand motion, point and spell is cast. I have always had this, attraction and hunger toward magic. I first want to know as much as possible about something before I even consider doing it or working with it. I also don't like to experiment. I know experiments may end up wrong so I just go with what already exists and is well known.

http://www.sacred-magick.org/index.php?act...ype=post&id=868and http://www.sacred-magick.org/index.php?act...ype=post&id=871sorry, been busy! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/blush2.gif) edit: NOTE: these are pdf files of stories, you should see them when you pull up the link >>So a wand, 1 or 2 words and wand motion, point and spell is cast. lol - depends on the words (and the wand)...i can think of 2 or maybe even 3 real times (featuring a hierophant no less), but for this thread most of the words i am thinking of rhyme with either "effic pail" or "gooooal" - forgive me if i see what isn't there really, though, its no worse than empowering a booger and flicking it for delivery!!!!!!!!!!! <splat!> This post has been edited by esoterica: Jul 27 2009, 07:43 AM

For anyone who reads this thread... Just a (overly cautious, I know, I know) note for anyone who wants to make their own wands, rods, staves, etc. - some wood can be toxic. If you're not sure abou the properties of the wood with which you are working, do a bit of homework first. And always wear a dust mask or at least a cloth over your mouth and nose and eye protection.. Last thing you want to do is find the PERFECT piece of wood for a wand and find out too late it's azalea or sumac or something like that. Also keep in mind there's a practical reason for not leaving the tools of your Art lying around the house for all to see - what may not be poisonous to you may be quite poisonous to a child, dog or cat. Or toxic to individuals who may be severly allergic and just not know it. In the case of ebony, the first few times you may not have a problem, but prolonged exposure can cause sensitivity with symptoms a lot like asthma. Same rules for blacksmithing or polishing stones - protect your lungs and your eyes. Make sure you have plenty of ventilation. So, not to make anyone worry overmuch, but take care of yourselves lest ye find thyself in dire straights. I've never met a spirit that would consistently dial 911 for anybody. I always use my fingire for LBRP ect but I have a steel rod that i cut to size and magnitize with a magnent to good effect. seems to feel nice with a small instrament like a metal rod for me. but what about bone, you could use animal bones that are shaped like a wand aswell. I use 4 bones for divinition from African tradiotin instead of tarot. it is so much more accurate. Natural things you will find have there own power inherited within it, things that were living have a kind of life force within you can use. sometimes a type of branch will feel more alive than a gemstone this is a part of nature magic and herbalism root work stuff. But for me I just o for what feels right. I would love to get my hands on some willow oneday. I love the color and the association with the moon and with the dead it just calls to me (IMG: style_emoticons/default/13.gif) ps I am a Necromancer and practice the dark arts. This is the oldest and rawest forms of magic and I want to awaken the darkness in my soul. i wanna bring the monster out to play. there can be no light without dark. how can you follow the ligh by denying the darkness. how can you call yourself complete and not actually master your darker side that is the hidden and unknown side. the side were magic is born and lives. in the light of the day you can only see shadows of the glory of the night. Christianity is so much apart of out soiciety that it is a part of our make up. magic is breaking the bonds of organized religion and coming back to our roots. If you new the true nature of Christianity and the history etc maybe you would not be so proud to support it. It has made us civilized but we are still animals fleash and blood. bwhahahaha fear insanity and fear yourself.
