Greetings!
There have been any number of threads dealing with the HGA, the latest go-around was mentioned in the Sacres Magic(k) of Abramelin the Mage where it was discussed as to wether or not an innocent was used to help scry the HGA or through devotional prayers/ritual the aspirant was 'granted' conversation. There are quite a few views regarding this...depending upon your source material and your belief system. Kath has experience in dealing with a spiritual entity that could be said to closely reflect that image (though, if I have it correctly, in her case it is not an HGA, per se... Am I out to lunch on this Kath? Please set me straight as I tend to over-generalize things or, sometimes, am just WRONG! *grin* (mistakes often follow stupidity...)
To even contemplate the idea of summoning an angel one should have a fairly good grasp on their belief system. Note that I did NOT say 'have a Judeo-Christian belief system! IMHO, I follow the idea of the HGA as being a synthesis between yourself and the Collective Unconcious representing a higher conciousness than your mundane awareness, your HGA being more closely associated with a devic form. (Helena Blavatsky would be proud! ) Throw in a blurb of Zos Kia Kultus and you're there! (read some AOSpare)...another good article is Stealing the Fire from Heaven by (my mind is on hold...old=soggy)EDIT NOTE: Stephen Mace!
Summoning an Angel (Michael, Uriel, Raphael, etc. was considered gauche. Invocation, OK but Evocation, pressing your luck! LOL! I suppose it all depends on that pesky belief system...
Magicians have been bandying about angelic names and god names for millenia. The 'bad' guys on the other hand CAN be reliquated to a summoning...I wonder why that is? *chuckle*
I'd go for the higher-self model. It will depend on your use of your own energy and your surroundings/vibrations. It's alot of intense subjective work...involving keying up your emotive energy and your innate creativity. Again, ad nauseum, KNOW THYSELF! (IMG:
