Does anyone else believe in a sort of concept of home? Not a physical home, but a spiritual one. I'd be glad to explain this more in depth for anyone who's interested, I just don't want to ramble on in the first post and look like an idiot.

Do you mean an astral temple? Please clarify.

I believe I know what you mean, but for the record, don't worry about looking foolish for sharing your perspectives and ideas with us. This is by and large an accepting community, and the majority of serious members here welcome insights from other regardless - or especially, even - how foreign they may be. Not only that, but starting out a thread with a bit of a focused ramble, can stimulate more response, and thus, conversation, and on a discussion forum, this is how things work - and more generally, it is how people effectively trade views and grow from one another's experiences and perspectives. So please, ramble on!

In any case, I believe the spiritual home is a transitory thing - it's something that will change several times over a person's lifetime. To me the spiritual home is the place where you belong currently in your life. It's the place that will nurture you in the stage that you are in, and the base from which you will operate as you follow that part of your path into the lessons and insights that will shape and prepare you for the next stage.

My spiritual home, for instance, was in a small place in the woods when I was a child. Later, it was the home of a childhood friend. For a time then I had no spiritual home, and I felt a little lost, but I found it again with my two companions who I have now lived with for several years. Lately I have the sense that I will find a new spiritual home soon, as they also are going through changes which seem to indicate they are making a new one for themselves together.

A spiritual home isn't always a physical place, I think, sometimes it's a religion ideal, sometimes a particular person or group of people, eventually I think it must settle within somewhere.

Please, though, give us your own thoughts and opinions. Nothing is without value.

peace

For me a spiritual home is a sacred space. It can be somewhere in the real world that I go to in order to relax or it can be a place in my dreams, a place I might use as a grounding point for pathworking rituals. It can also be a place on the astral plains. A sort of command center where I can come to and go to travel the astral plains.

I appreciate the encouragement. I'm still too unsure of myself, I think. ^^;;

You made a good point in bringing up the fact that a spiritual home can be a physical place. It's something I didn't think about myself; my own spiritual home is not a physical one and it didn't occur to me that it could be.

The concept of spiritual home and the home itself for me is a place-- I'm not sure if it would be called astral or mental-- that only the one whose special place it is can reach. Of course, just the way guests can be invited in a physical home, one can invite guests/others to live with him or her (personally, home is not home for me without the girl I love, who stays with me at all times), but it's a place that is safe from outside invasions, and where the person who inhabits it is safe as well. A spiritual home to me is the one place, above all others, where an individual can belong with no question.

To + Kinjo -, depending on the person it could be a temple, I suppose, but that wasn't the concept as it appears from my perspective.
