A New Student, i usually dislike getting up and introducing myself Options

i usually dislike introductions but the longer theyre put off, the less time we have together.

i like these forums. ive been a member for about 3 weeks now(after lurking around for a month before that), and ive already seen and learned quite a bit of interesting and useful posts. i became interested in Ceremonial Magic about two years ago. i attempted to begin a practice(about 3 months of very lax LBRP performance), but couldnt stay with it. i recently started up again and feel much better about it now, considering ive taken more preparation and a better pace. the book i found most appealing about magic, Israel Regardie's The Tree of Life, kinda layed out what i expect from my magical experience. i enjoy human psychology and find it a very rich subject. my original interest was in the Golden Dawn system, which i think i can learn a lot from. but all ive learned about magic so far tells me that magic should be tailored as a personal practice, so the GD seems a bit too confining for me as a start. this brings me to an interest in Chaos Magic, but for some reason i just cant fully understand the motivation behind it. ive yet to read anything on it, so i should hold any judgements i have until i do. yet i still cant help wondering why it appears so sinister to me. at the moment, i have no interest in Black Magic or anything that will manipulate or harm another. as of now i would just like to learn Ceremonial Magic so as not to harm myself either. ive been using DM Kraig's Modern Magick and Regardie's The Middle Pillar as guidelines. i work in a metaphysical bookstore so i have many titles at my disposal(i like to read in case anyone wants to suggest any authors or titles). my other related interests are Tarot(for Divination & Meditation), Yoga & Meditation, Dreams(which include Interpretation, Lucid Dreaming, & Astral Projection) all of which i have some practical background; and I Ching, Sigil Magic & Magical Tool Making of which ive yet to scratch the surface on. im sure this list lacks in some way, but for now it will have to do. thanks for the great forums and all the helpful information.

I can relate to the issue concerning the LBRP as it is a ritual that needs to be developed quietly and with much appreciation over time. I myself worked very had in adapting to the LBRP and I do believe there is more to this ritual than meets the eye. For one thing, it does develop your astral vision quite intensely and you begin to see "more" than what you previously thought. Many faculties are also awaken and your perception of the world does take a turn.

Anyway, welcome and should you need any help in anything just write.
