Hi All. So, I have recently had a kind of breakthrough experience and realized that I want to move to Portland, where my closest spiritual family is, because of them and for other reasons relating to wanting to continue to explore rather than settle my feet in the red Georgia clay.

I have, in this endeavor, begun to plan my trip which will begin approximately August 31st.

On the way, I have a particularly ambitious project in mind.

Last summer, I buried a crystal at a place of power, an ancient ceremonial site that is still cared for and maintained in north georgia. I spent time meditating there, and I linked the crystals on the fly, as it were. Very crudely, and the link is very weak, but I do get the same vibe by placing my awareness into the linked crystal during meditation. I dowsed with a pendulum for the appropriate burial point.

Well, it got me thinking about making a much stronger link by carving seven crystals - six with the same sigil on each of six faces, and a seventh with one face bearing a sigil from each of the others. I've done something like this with other applications before, creating sympathetic links between two things in a variety of ways. These I'll carve and then blood, much like carving runes. Then I'd like to take each of the six crystals to places of power across the US and bury them there, making the seventh into a kind of link/receptacle through which those energies can be accessed.

So far the one linked crystal I have created has a tendency to simply take me into the solemn reverie that I felt at the mounds in north GA. Very quiet, but also a sensation of... biding, I guess, waiting for something. A kind of calm anticipation that, in terms of utility, I have found is an excellent precursor state to ritual work. Going into that state using the crystal is extremely easy. Just closing my eyes and kind of moving into and through it along the philotic line is like getting warm by stepping into hot water - your mind just goes there, your energy makes a natural shift.

So I want to do the same thing with much greater places of power. However, finding a decent list of them is proving to be kind of difficult. I wonder if anyone has put any significant study into the subject of North American Places of Power, vortexes, etc., and if you'd mind helping me with either links or suggestions. I'm going to try and take a route that at least goes through new mexico, because there are some sites in general there that I've always wanted to see. I will also, I think, swing by the grand canyon because, I mean, it's a cross country tour. Why not?

I have the freedom to take a winding path from one corner to the other, and plan on taking my time and enjoying the journey as well as creating links to six of these places.

The purpose, is to have access to those places and their states remotely and easily in a talismanic sense, and to be able to use the same sigils for the creation of sympathetic links to other talismans as well.

I am looking currently, and will continue to. But my main difficulty is that although there are some lists of places, there is very little discussion on the actual nature of the places. That is to say, on the tone of the power there.

Well I know of only few which are famous, active, and powerful. If your are looking particularly for maintained sacred places it might be a little hard to find them. Sedona, which has four vortexes is a big miss mash of happenings. The Buddhist temple I work at has a sister site there and I have herd that the Lama considers it highly useful to Buddhist practices and her work that involves manipulation of karma.

Weavers peak in the Superstition mountains has a lot of goofy lore around it, but I can think of few places that have better wood chi - good for Jupiter workings.

There are places in to Pocono mountains where the geological formations have gathered chi in one place for as long as anyone would care to postulate. I do not know where they are but it might be a help to know they exist.

Mt. Shasta and panther meadows, a smaller vortex in a larger one, have been considered a ‘soft spot’ so to speak, a place where the bounds between planes are not so thick or do not exist. The springs are supposed to be very potent and healing.

Looking glass rock, NC. Used for vision quests for thousands of years.

Wizard island is supposedly an active ceremonial site with very intense but calming power. Said to be a little like a white Tara practice.

Black Hills in SD have many places of power but most are parks now and trampled with tourists. It is also, very yin in nature as indicated by its geography. The chaotic miss mash of rock types, formations and the many protruding spires and round rocks would make this places energy rich in shaqi, bad if you live there yet, very conducive to magick related to big, blow it up and start over type magick and cursing.

Old Man Mountain in rocky mountain national park was and is used for vision quests, but this article makes references to other uses and even to it being a geniuslocus, which would make it rather unpleasant to work with casually.

That's about all I know of; if you where looking for dragon veins in the US then I would be more help.

That is a very helpful list, I may visit the temple in Sedona when I am there.

Do you happen to have a map of the dragon veins (different than ley lines?) in the us? Or knowledge of where they run in the southern half of the country?

I never had a good grasp of what a Ley Line was, but a mountain dragon’s lairs (misremembered the name before) is a spot in a formation of mountains or hills that collects earthly qi. The highest peak of a mountainous or hilly formation is Dragon's head, the main line of hills or mountains represents the spine, the branch ranges extending from the main trunk represent the legs, and smaller spurs and escarpments extending from the branch ranges represent claws. From the head follow the ridge until it ends in either flat ground, another dragon, or large body of water. That distance is the dragon. The most concentrated spot of earth energy is the lair. You can find them in any mountain or hill chain, though some or better than others. I played around with google maps a few years back and found promising sites rather quickly, they just involved a lot of hiking. I will see if I can remember or find the big ones again for you. The lower part of the Rockies had one near Aspen, Co I think, also Missouri but it has been a while. The following is for your amusement, it is all the criteria I could remember or find about mountain dragon’s and their lairs.

High ranges with jagged peaks and steep rocky slopes are the most powerful dragons but wild and restless. Medium ranges with rounded but defined peaks and gentle forested slopes are modest of energy, stable and nourishing. Low ranges with small peaks and eroded slopes should be avoided. A formation where the peaks get higher and higher, one after the other, as they recede into the background; it will have strongest type of Qi. When it has an undulating landscape is auspicious, but not as powerful, providing it still has abundant in trees or grass, access to water, and are magnificent in appearance. The mountains or hills that decrease in progression, contain grotesque shapes, have scattered formations, or appear skinny and lean to one side, that are barren, dry, or sandy are the most undesirable type of mountain formation. Mountains are flat of the same height, barren, lack color, or ugly are inauspicious too. Mountainous regions that contain steep ragged ridges or fast moving water or jagged rock formations are inauspicious.

You find the places with the highest concentration of energy on dragons the same way you locate a dragon by looking for a place that is either "at odds with the flow" of energy in areas that are largely "moving with the flow" of energy, or vice versa. Auspicious sites are ones that are a well-protected, such as a hollow, or be surrounded by green mountains with lush foliage, relatively large and flat in other wise mountainous terrain containing a protrusion of earth, ideally, high in the mountains with lots of sunlight and near curving or still water, surrounded by ridges or hills on three sides; or flat land in front as viewed from the north looking south, with some type of protrusion in the back and mountains positioned on both sides of the site for protection; or where a longer "embracing" mountain range on both sides of the site; or hidden between two tall mountain peaks.

Every range has its own power site but there is only one “trunk site” that commands all the others for many miles around and in therefore the most desirable. A Trunk Site usually exists only within a long primary mountain range that has many branches, and has travelled over several hundred miles from its place of origin. A group of mountains that look like a "pair of scissors," generally exposes the Trunk Site. It will be located between the inner most pair of scissor "legs," near the vertex. A group of branch mountains that form into the image of a "pair of scissors," generally tell you its a Branch
Site.

Fascinating! I cross a couple of mountain ranges on my way and intend to camp at least a couple of nights during the trip.

Ley Lines are specifically the lines along which sacred sites are built, from ancient locales to more modern churches, etc., although the tradition of building on them hasn't been practiced popularly for some time. I believe it realistically began when there were very few such places, but smaller temples, etc., would be build on a line between two others; often natural landmarks were used for these things, and it might have even been primarily a matter of navigation from one place to another using visible landmarks rather than relying on ye olde GPS in the skye.

There are some more new age theories about how ley lines are currents of mystical energy... but if such things occur I believe it is more from the cumulative intention to travel between two places than from any natural occurrence. However, it is one aspect of a general study regarding the paths of the earth's 'nervous system' as it were, and it is generally believed that where these lines converge or cross, are places where this power gathers.

You have my gratitude.

peace

Whoa, Whoa, hey take a deep breath... those crystals are a VISION it doesn't mean what it means! Relax... The power flows through the temple, the temple at the height will teach you one true flight. Don't fly away into a misery of wonder. My friend, my vagrant brother don't let your journey be marred by magick, let your journey be a flight of your soul. OK, OK, OK, I'll read the rest of the thread after your first post and respond again.

I've had to think about it, but I believe I understand you. Magic isn't the purpose of the journey, except in that it becomes a kind of magical process in and of itself... but the crystals are a magic of opportunity within a greater context. In a way, the journey itself is a ritual of change, evolution, and... I won't say banishing so much as... integration, or digestion. Chewing the cud, spitting out the stones and sticks, to digest what is pure. And in context, the crystals represent not a specific state, but a collective current. To gather not the static energy of the place, but the dynamic interaction between my own current and the standing states that it passes through. It becomes a spiritual reminder of how my current can be directed when I intentionally choose my destiny rather than allow it to unfold in a direction I don't care for.

Because that is the state that I want to exist in - I want to never 'allow' myself to let life be handed to me and accept the cards that I'm given. I am a Magus - I stack the deck and deal the cards myself. This journey is high magic, transformation, ascension; not hoodoo.

I won't let myself be distracted by the lesser process, though. Thank you for making me aware.

peace

The issues with Dragons in the south is that one of the main criteria for being a useful dragon is that it must have lots of lush growth and a relatively large clearing. The south has a few big dragons but they are all barren, rocky, snow covered, without a clearing, or simply old and therefore associated with decay. I had to take a few liberties with the word "south" when compiling these. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

1) Lewis & Clark National Forest, Cascade, Mt (47.04299,-110.969009), and several other Branch lairs that look mature are in the Helena National Forest Helena, Mt. within 5miles of Slategoat Mt.

2) There is a favorable line of mature dragons running from Roanoke VA. to Black Mt. NC. Which has a many potential layers (36.892664,-80.19556; 37.124534,-80.064855 for example)

3) There is a small dragon that houses two branch lairs near Robbert’s Cave State Part in Oklahoma (35.075386,-94.981613; 35.026482;-95.179396) In fact that whole 20 mile chain has a lot of potential lairs.

4) Several small sites in Lincoln National Forest NM. One near eagle lake (33.387414,-105.746591), one near glencoe just off highway 70 (33.397411,-105.487304) and one more rather promising lair in the middle of nowhere (33.147038,-105.602846) about a mile from the Indian Forest Service Road 28.

5) Aspin Colorado looks to be located north-east what I think is the only trunk site (39.168134,-106.96804) in the southern half of the country. It is also the most powerful type of dragon so the energy is going to be hard to control.

6) Also from pictures it looks like Panther Meadows might also be a lair, but it is in a very confusing chain of mountains. Long – all the way up to B.C. but I am not skilled enough to determine if it is a lair or not using maps.

I am afraid you will have to gamble a bit on anyone of these sites, I have not been to them and first hand observation is worth 1000 times speculation. Yet these will help you make an informed decision.

Incandescently, the nice people at Sacred Land Film Project (bit.ly/am1vFq) have a partial map of Indian sacred sites.

Best of luck my friend.

I've wondered sometimes about Ley Lines or Dragon's veins. There are maps of ley lines in Britain but I have never seen any maps that encompass North America. I've googled using different wording at different times but haven't ever found much. I'm not even sure how much I believe in the ley line theory, but I do believe that some areas are much richer in energy/qi than others and it seems to be due to the geographical land formations. I know that the energy is much more abundant at the bottom of the escarpment I live near to. And different parts of the country have different feeling energy. I tend to rely on my feelings for a lot of things even though feelings are subjective. The Chinese explanations for this are part of feng shui theory and I think are valid. But I don't think that anyone has drawn maps of North America, however if anyone comes across something like that, post a link.

Good luck on the cross country move. I don't envy you starting up a new practice somewhere new. I've been in a couple of clinic startups and generally it is a lot of prep work and not much money at first--unless you pay out megabucks for prominent and eye catching advertising. But if you are a two income family it will make it a lot easier.

Well, I picked up additional work with California Psychics - I read for Psychic Source a while back but couldn't keep up their minimum hours while working 60-70 at the office and trying to be available for clients there. I'm starting that in the next few days, and will hopefully be making decent call volume by the time I get to Portland. I'm in contact with a few locations in the area as well to do readings, reiki, and possibly hypnosis as well. So I'm going to start out kind of travelling around first, being social, passing out cards, etc. When it looks like there's enough interest, I'll open up a very small office, or rent an loft apartment in the city (an office is less expensive!) and start taking clients there. But I don't know that I'll want to open up a clinic on the scale that I did here. I'll more than likely simply work on my own for the foreseeable future. However, being that I will no longer be in the southeast US buckle-of-the-bible-belt, I'm also going to start offering classes on tarot and psychic development, selfcare and holistic wellness, massage for couples and homecare, etc. And there's a possibility I may actually pick up a teaching job at a massage therapy school there as well. The goal ultimately, though, is to open private practice.

I've looked at the coordinates Fatherjhon gave, and I believe I understand basically how to identify the dragon's veins and dragon lairs. I found some relevant resources discussing the form school feng shui as well. This was very helpful, Fatherjhon, thank you!

peace
