Greetings All,

Last Spring my Lady who practices Green Magick and Herbology grew some of the main ingredients reputed to have been in the Traditional Witches Flying Ointment.

She grew Beladonna and Skull Cap. In August we harvested the Leaves and Stems from these two Herbs. We then mixed it with some of the Virgin Olive Oil and let it infuse until just recently.

I realize that Beladonna can be used as a Tincture and ingested in extremeely small amounts, and also Skull Cap for relaxation, yet the purpose for our experiement was to determine if the Traditiona of a Flying Ointment which caused Out-of-The-Body like Experiences was legitamate.

I used some of the Ointment earlier today and smeared it on one arm. I smeared it thickly so it would absorb through the skin. Approximately 5 minutes later I started to feel as if all sounds from the Radio and from my Lady speaking with me were coming from a great distance. Approximately 15 minutes and I was questioning whether or not I was thinking responses or speaking them when giving replies.

Since I was unsure of the proper amount of the Oil to use and feared harmful results the first experiment I used it lightly only on one arm. I plan to do some more experimentation with this Oil and smear it on my Abdomen and Solar Plexus area. The reason for this is this area is where I generally feel my Astral Body Disassociate with my Physical Body during Out of the Body Experiences.

I was wondering has anyone else used such a Potion of Flying Ointment, and if so, what results did you have.

Respectfully,
Helel (Joseph)

Greetings!
I've used similar ointments in the past with mixed results. My ointment contained Aconite, Belladonna, Jimsonweed and Henbane with Poplar buds (Balm of Gilead), Wormwood and vegetable shortning. I couldn't bring myself to use animal fat but that's just me... I also smeared the ointment on my wrists, the inside elbow joints and the armpits and crotch. All these areas have blood vessels near the surface of the skin.
There was a numbing and distancing affect and then a dreamy lassitude, followed by some fairly wierd lucid dreaming. Note: I did this whilst in good health and in my twenties (decades ago). These substances are poisonous and can kill you! Try placing a number of drops of Belladonna decoction in your eyes...to simulate the ancient formula for making your eyes like 'limpid pools' (ie your pupils get super dilated...hence the naming of the plant Bella (good/beautiful) donna (woman) named so for their deep black eyes...) LOL! I'm certainly NOT a beautiful woman but it was worth the experiment...everything got very blurry and I couldn't see straight for days....and the f-ing migraine from too much eyestraining light made for this a one time try!
Muscarine is an atropine antagonist though call your Poison Control Center if things get out of hand! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/witch.gif)

I have used a witches flying oil with great success. This is easily absorbed by the skin and does not leave a weal.

If animal fats are repulsive use aquaeous cream as your fundimental substance, to which you must add wormwood, flea and peppermint oils, powdered stool of didelphys, thinlie, and (I found this a very good substitute for Jimsonweed), tea leaves. Rub it on your feet, particularly heels and back of ankles, and in the small of your back (just above your crack (IMG:style_emoticons/default/i_triangle.gif)

As usual with any herb or concontion you are unsure of, start slowly and ramp up the dose only after the first is gone.

We have found some old escaped belladonna in the garden and intend to make belladonna wine if it blooms. Any thoughts?

Amounts, recipes?

PLEASE- ABSOLUTELY DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS.

I have years of experience with using psychedelics and other drugs, including true dissociatives like Ketamine, Memantine and maybe some others, I forget.

Anyone who attempts this is putting themselves in great danger. A 1000 years ago we didn't know about alkaloids and the way these plants worked.

Just about every plant you guys are talking about contains varying- and sometimes very strong- concentrations of what are known as the "Belladonna Alkaloids"- they include atropine and scopolamine. These are drugs commonly administered during life saving procedures and routine eye dilation for optometric purposes.

These plants are frequent killers of children, and even in adults, 10mg can kill humans. More commonly it'll take triple that, but it's not the sort of thing worth dying over.

How much plant material does it take to get 30mg? You'd be surprised. Not much at all- especially if you use the roots or berries. Alkaloid content on a by-weight basis will come to anywhere from .25mg/g to 1mg/g. But that's wet weight- not dried. Dried material will be significantly stronger.

The belladonna alkaloids are about as likely to put you in contact with the spiritual as smoking crack or huffing paint. It's an acetylcholine inhibitor and an antimuscarinic compound. Acetylcholine is responsible for regulating unconscious activities- like breathing, heart rate.

Psychoactive doses will cause you to sweat like a cow and your heart to think it is on crack.

It is known as a delirient- the hallucinations it causes are nothing like LSD or mushrooms. It will cause a state that can't be discriminated from Schizophrenia or Amphetamine Psychosis. I've surveyed 200 instances of people using it for spiritual or recreational purposes and not one was happy with their choice. Many cases ended up in the ER, and a few ended up with long term stays in the psychiatric ward. The psychosis it induces may last from a day, or months. I managed to track down the close friend of one man in texas who tried it and two weeks later was in the same state as he was the day after he took it- and on that day two weeks later, he decided to shoot down the "black helicoptors" hovering over his house. He was arrested and put on a 72 hour hold. It took a long time before anyone found out that his state was the result of a drug, but the antipsychotic drugs helped him a lot. 12 years later he's still quite "altered" and will likely never been the same.

I don't have an anti-drug bent. There are just plenty drugs available that'll do the sorts of things you're looking for. Because it was done historically doesn't mean it's a good idea. And aconite does not reverse the toxic effects; i'm not exactly sure where Kulkin came up with the idea that it blocked the effects of atropine.

Aconite is the more likely drug to cause death, and it's a very potent toxin, but IT'S *toxic* effects are blocked by atropine, though strychine is generally preferred.

So, while Aconite's toxic effects may be blocked by Atropine, Atropines effects *are not* blocked by aconite.

Because it was used in history doesn't mean that it was smart, safe or even reasonable.

If you want to "fly"- try Ketamine, Nitrous or PCP even.

If you want to talk to God, try LSD, Mushrooms or (even better) DMT- a very safe psychedelic (most are) that has been used for shamanic journeying in the Amazon for longer than Christ has been worshipped. It's incredibly powerful. Look up Ayahuasca once, or check out some reports of it being smoked @ Erowid.org

Even Cannabis is more spiritual than Atropine.

Atropine will have you hosting dinner parties for dead relatives, and you won't realize that it's strange.

It basically works the same way Benadryl does. And Benadryl is a hell of a lot safer.

Surely an alchemical plant stone would have the same effect, if not better....?

Alchemical products can, yes, but they're more purposeful than that... elevating the state of plant/mineral/metal as matter to achive higher states of awareness.

Hamilton mentioned this but I will too. Check out erowid.org if you need to find out info for drugs, they have a huge variety of scientific info on these sort of this so you can safely do whatever you want to do.

Expect nothing, or you will get caught up in the future and not pay attention to the present. Just do the practice diligently, do it because you enjoy it, do it because you believe in it. Don't wait for results, don't wait for it to happen.

Hamilton's also correct that a good amount of diphenhydramine will (fairly) safely induce delirium, but it probably won't be fun.
