Hey board members,

I'm not sure if this is the correct board to put this in ... but with that being said i was wondering who here has had experience with weather magick.

I have had some experience in my studies with effecting the weather in minor ways. For example, fueling wind to blow clouds over, strenghening/weakening storms, more sun ... etc...

Its something i have been working with a lot lately and i have had some success. Therefore, i was wondering if anyone here had also had some success with it, so that i could compare notes, techniques, gain further understanding.

Peace and Light,

Velarius the White

It isn't something I've had a whole lot of experience with, but it is something I am interested in. Could you possibly tell us some of your experiences with this, or methods you've experimented with?

I know that there are complicated and valuable ritualistic ways of going about weather magick. With that being said, as i usually only desire a minor weather change my practices usually involves a few simple steps:

1) Acclimating my energy to the weather at hand ... in other words if its dark and rainy, making sure that i am in tune with nature in this way.

2) Minor Ritual Components (optional): Use of my wand crystal, candles, sigilization etc...

3) Intention and Spellcasting - use of magickal energy channeled through a short intention, mantra, or spellword, or even through a thought on a VERY specific way i would like the weather to change ... in other words if i want a quick storm to pass over now rather than later, i will call upon wind to blow it over ... or focusing on the sun breaking through the clouds in one very small area. So far this has has great success, at one point i was able to call the wind to blow a storm over before a parade, so that it was able to go on as scheduled. Additionally, i have used weather magick in concert with magick of protection to protect buildings i am residing in from selected weather events.

I would be interested in ways that others work on weather magick, especially as i mentioned more complicated rituals that i could use for even greater effect.

i did some weather magick once... made it rain so i could stop working on the roof. what sucked was my dad had us just wait it out. i made it last as long as possible by angling the wind so it keep pouring in our area.... i didnt do any ritual or anything. whenever i do anything like that i just call out to the spirits of the elements. no particular names or anything. just a basic "oh great wind spirit..." that kinda stuff. i used to praise them a lot and thank them everyday for smiling upon me. i suppose thats why it worked so well. also i didn't JUST have them do it. i agreed to give as much of my own energy as possible and they would finish it out. they seem to be really nice. also say white rabbit three times and the wind will change direction. dont know why.

I'm a sorcerer, I do not use tools except for in my seperate religious practices. Weather changing comes down to whether the weather respects you or not. If the clouds think your a berk they'll laugh at you - as a sorcerer you command respect from the clouds and the ocean, the two elements of the weather. To do this, when introducing yourself to them, (by simply staring at them with bright eyes - asin a glare to say I can see you) be EXPRESSIONLESS. Stand with the knowledge that your inner being created all of existence, it did - sorcerers wisdom. Once you tune into the creator power which you are born with (as a male) you then have their respect. Secondly, the weathers greatest friend is the hills and open land - consider farmers and animals in weather change otherwise you will only get minor results - also consider erosion and the effect of the rain, sun or snow in that area, only by knowing and appreciating a workers work will you inspire him to do as you request. Once you have sparked this, do what you originally did to weather change. Remember, every situation has an appropriate hand position. Sun for instance - rub the inner side of your middle fingers together rapidly to create heat - saying the word Sun repeatedly clarifies your request. Also, the alder tree leaves and twigs will enhance weather changing ability. Keep some in your pocket, don't take it from the tree, find some on the ground.

As I'm not your teacher, I'll just give your hand cut(position) guidelines. thumb = ethereal, index = air, middle = fire, soft finger/ring finger = water, pinky = earth. Left hand = intake, right hand = outtake. From this use your own intiative and intuition. Align these elements with all their corresponding seasons, family members, months, years, body organs and psychological concepts and write it down so you don't forget it.

weather magick is what i've worked most with, mostly rain and such, it's always been ridiculously easy for me. My first successful spell workings were with rain (IMG:style_emoticons/default/13.gif)
its kinda a simple process the way i've done it, i just meditate and go into trance and allow myself to get in touch with the world surrounding me, allow myself to become a part of all the energy in my surroundings instead of an individual.
Then i just shape it towards what i want the weather to be like, usually rain. im not the best at explaining but i can do it with barely thinking about it now, elemental and weather magicks have always gone well with me.

LOL! I take it that this was blatant sarcasm or are you just advertizing? In the case of sarcasm you'd be justified in that opinion as alot of what is said here can be fairly ............ (IMG:style_emoticons/default/horse.gif)

I had the privilege of listening to an elder Shaman whom I highly respect
relate his personal experience with Weather manipulation.

He confessed to being very successful with it in his youth until he got cocky...
and then it was gone. Period.

His tips:

1. It either works or it doesn't. Snap. Just like that.
2. Don't feel too damn good about yourself.

Hello Valerius. I have achieved this in two ways(as in even rain in the middle of summer which in israel is very extreme and unheard of. Being a very hot country with a very short winter):
1. I would find or create(infiltrate it) this situation in the collective reality and make it the dominant one weather wise. Since even if we all occasionaly think about the weather usualy little is done to actually menifest changes in it(at least in this small country with little population compared to the rest of the world). Resulting in the weather of choice(possible to the extremes of the location) few days later.
2. I would request on a certain time preiod(say around my birthday) from various elemntal spirits the cold\warm\sunny but cool weather i wish for as a favor for my birthday. xD Being on good terms with them they might do so and if not communicate the reason for it.

Didnt really delve into it beyond that, wasnt very interested. Hope this helps anyway.

Best of luck! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Shimi.

I understand your issue, they really need an elemental magick forum. So, I live in DC and I was a proponent of our snowpocalypse. A few students at my school and I worked for the storm, expanding it and making it grow. Needless to say, it worked. The second storm was even better (it went from five to twelve inches with our help). Well, I like to incorporate a bit on science into my practice - we were supposed to get less because there was a current of wind going around us that would stave off most of the storm. What we did was to, with my partner and I assigned to separate things, stop the wind current and pull in the storm to us. It worked, the amount of snow we got was more than double the forecast. I'm not entirely sure what my partner did, but I have this ability to release myself from my body and fly wherever I want - it's like astral projection, only it happens in this world. The only downside is that since I am totally consumed by nature when I do it, i can see people but nothing manmade, so sometimes it's hard for me to figure out where exactly I am when I take a random trip. Anyway, as I fly I'm completely aware of the wind conditions, of the atmosphere and the ground below (although sometimes the ground fades when I'm focusing on another element). And, since I'm totally boundless as an unchained soul, I just decide how the wind should change and what the clouds should do. However, my mood affects the atmosphere around me - if I travel while I'm angry thunderclouds gather and when I'm sad, fog and rainclouds appear. I have to be really careful to meditate before I go anywhere.

Greetings!
Ah....you sound like you have an affinity for elemental energies. By working your weather magic, did you stop to think about the ramifications of the destructive
power unleashed? The deaths that it caused? The disruption in others lives? With great power comes great responsibility. This is not a game. By redirecting the
elemental 'flow' you may have caused the upcoming drought in the Shenandoah Valley this summer, or the mouse pandemic that will kill millions of mice in the fall of 2012.
Astral travel is also not limited to traveling up the 'planes' but also in the 'middle' world...hence the reason why so many people are so keen to develop this ability.
That you have such complete and masterful control at your young age is a marvel...but then, marvels can and do happen. Most of the members here (myself included)
would be absolutely thrilled to so casually manipulate the weather. Moving clouds is one thing but reigning in the awesome forces involved in a storm of that size is incredible!
One more thing before I toddle off to bed...weather lows (barometric pressure lows) cause me incredible pain. Weeping, crying, screaming PAIN! If I ever catch you or your friend
mucking about in my neighborhood again with strong weather lows I will find you and give you some of this pain BACK and see how you like it!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/badmood.gif)

Well, thanks for the praise! I happen to think that my ability comes from my ancestry (especially where storms are concerned - I'm descended from vikings who were exiled from Sweden for reputedly sinking boats with witchcraft).

In any event, I was unaware about the Shenandoah (although we're getting enough rain now to make up for it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ), but I'll do what I can to help starting now (and see if my cohorts will join in). I don't happen to think that snow created a new disease... I leave that to the scientists, although if I saw a sick mouse I would certainly do my best to help. As for your pain, I'm sincerely sorry, and I hope you feel better, but I only enhanced the second storm really, which I heard didn't make it up to where you are (Connecticut, correct?). I held the initial snowstorm over DC for a few hours longer and made it dump a little more snow, but I only really intensified the second one.

In any event, you've given me a lot to think about. I'll be sure to consider what ways I can help people in the future without hurting others. I'm actually working on empowering the storm but only when it's near my energy - that is, it would intensify, say, over my house but then diminish to its regular strength afterwards.

I'm really sorry again about your pain, is it RA? In any case, hopefully you can go from (IMG:style_emoticons/default/badmood.gif) to (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye.gif) in the near future (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Greetings!
*sigh* Yes...RA is crippling my hands, knees and feet, etc. ad nauseum. Thank goodness that this last 'nor'easterner' has left. We've had them stacked up in a row and when
that barometric pressure drops, so do I. Weather manipulation is a very on again-off again thing for most. There are many stories telling of calling up storms with or without extra-human agencies.
Messing about with Enochian elementals can provide such actions...though this isn't the rule. Some people seem to be born with it, others it comes with some difficulty whilst the majority
(thank goodness) can't...at all! Wind is something that I seem to have a slight affinity with but for the most part it is spotty now that I'm older. (that may be an interesting thread topic or, at least, something
to be looked into). When one interupts the natural flow of energies of a storm there is the potential for causing a 'butterfly' effect. The Shenandoah River Valley drought will happen due to a large thermal shift in the jet stream which caused a certain amount of water to be dropped in another place, outside its normal flow. This is not cast in concrete. A small deviation with an errant front off the Carolinas can be brought far enough inland to
right the situation. The window of opportunity is still fairly large. The mouse 'pandemic' is caused by the drought, causing a large tract of land to dry up and die, thereby causing the amassing movement of large rodent populations to move northwards and to the se. The insects affected will feed the mice and various plants causing the now larger population to grow. Overly large population leads to disease breakout and ...hence, the mouse pandemic which will have a further ripple effect. Again, this is not cast in concrete but it will be unless the drought is averted. Granted, I'm sticking my neck out and proclaiming "Madman, this way!" But I've been called
worse before and will be again...*sigh* Hopefully this illustrates what I was ranting like a buggered lunatic about. (lucky you) This chunk of rock is my home and I like it very much! As an old hippie I try to honor the Earth
and its manifestations. It's the closest thing to religion that I will attest to. So....call up a storm but try to look down the probability trail(s) to see that you're not messing something important up! This sounds harsh and, I guess, it is...when I was your age I didn't think about most of this stuff as I was too stuck on being 14 and we all know that our universes tend to be rather close at that age! (I was not an exception!) When we are blessed with
strong native abilities we must, sooner or later, come to grips with all the responsibility that goes with it! (Yes...I talk too much!) And on that note, I'll tiptoe quietly out the door as to not wake you(all) up! *grin* (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blablabla.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/horse.gif)
btw, yes, I live on the SE shoreline...the storm made it up here!...and stalled....ow.

Weather magick is kinda a misnomer for me.

Its a, lets implore the aether, which doesn't actually have a human value system to do something, while attempting to energetically shift the tides of the metaphorical ocean with a teaspoon. Most of the time, my guess is that the aether is like "what the *^*%^ is that brat doing. Fine. RAIN IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT? LEAVE ME BE YOU STUPID FOOL." or something like that

For inevitable precipitation, its kind of easier to 'reason' and coax it to come over and stuff.

I still think its hilarious at moments that we think that our agency makes any difference to the aether.

Could you clarify on what you mean by "aether?" It is generally used to describe an as yet undiscovered fluid that serves as a transmission medium for life force, but you talk about it like it's the force controlling the universe.

I've come to habit of calling what I think might be the universal bond and life force/energy between stuff as the aether. I perceive it as a viscous substance.
