Different spellings of Masloth, Variations for a purpose>>?? Options

I recently wrote out the hebrew that is contained within the circle of the Ars Goetia(Mathers/Crowley) edition.

The second line is IAH CHOKMAH RATZIEL AUPHANIM MASLOTH S.S.F.

In the drawing of the circle itself MASLOTH is spelled

מסלות

while in every other reference (Golden Dawn, Kaballah Unveiled) MAZLOTH is spelled as

מזלות

the only difference being the use of Zayin instead of Samekh.

I have heard although I cannot site a source that it was originally spelled MASLOTH rather than MAZLOTH in order to keep it from being confused with the idea of MEZLA by Qabalists.

Does anyone know the reason for the differences in spelling?

A simiple mistake? Purposefully changed? Neither?

in spoken hebrew it is מזלות but i only hebrew from the street and never heard מסלות

Interesting question. I don't have an answer or solution, as such. From what I can tell with the various manuscripts is that it may be a translating 'error' whilst betwixt grrek and hebrew. It refers to the Firmament (of Stars). I seen it spelled Masloth, Mazloth, mazzaloth and Mezzaloth. The next step would be to compare dates of translations and their subsets. The word in question was said to have been used in the circle where a translator was copying the text and the copy, unfortunately, had a crease so the word was blurred... I'm sure that the stories abound. Unless you are needing to pin down the gematrial meaning/correspondance then does it make a difference? I've always used 'Masloth' but that is because that is where this spelling is found, in old Goetic scripts. The Mazloth is found mostly in Hebraic texts. Actually it does make a difference, Masloth and Mazloth are two different words.
The former being the plural of orbits and the other the Zodiac(or Firmament of the stars)

I'll just be patient and perhaps the Doc will stop by.

That's cool, I had actually read the lucky mojo/heidrick posts but I felt that it some ways it was a rationale to explain Crowley's mistaken use of masloth in 777. Thanks! I ended up getting a hold of DocHolliday with this question and along with his advice and my own judgement I have come to the conclusion that it is merely a mispelling on the original manuscript rather than some deeper meaning.
